Veronica Vasicka – Minimal Wave Label Mix For UO
Leda – Welcome To Joyland [369.004]

Re-press of a secret masterpiece by Peter Baumann (under the alias Hacoon Mail) and Hans Brandeis. Music that lies somewhere between Space Disco and Minimal Wave. Beautiful synth structures with Leda’s mesmerizing vocals on top.
Momentform – Hartzine Mixtape
Momentform – Momentform [WT007]

Wt Records takes another expected turn by releasing a mini LP of new wave tracks from Momentform. The first track, ‘Momentform is Fake,’ spans the gap between new wave and house with 707 rhythmic patterns and raw, unedited bass lines. ‘Selected Works’ with its melancholic vocals and juno arpeggio has a way of finding its way into your brain and staying there. 6 tracks of excellent melodies and melancholy angst make this a great record for listening from start to finish.
Bakterielle Infektion – In Grief [GEN035]
Horrid Red – Celestial Joy LP [HOL044]

Celestial Joy has been recorded by Edmund Xavier at Video West in San Francisco in occasion of Horrid Red first West Coast tour and first ever live appearances. As from the title, Celestial Joy is a step away from the depressive synth punk of their first releases. Instead, there is some sort of light cleaved through this album, though only a weak light can filter to the depth of the dark environment we are moving in. The recording session saw the newly established core trio of Edmund Xavier, Bunker Wolf and Clay Ruby (Burial Hex) in charge, with further assistance by Nathaniel Ritter, Tim Berresheim, Carly Flies, Catholic Pat and Christine Boepple.

Intergalatic Gary – Dark Entries Mix (HNY122)
Ruth – Polaroid / Roman / Photo [ARC078]

Originally released on Paris Records in 1985 Ruth’s LP sold just 50 copies and was relegated to obscurity until the track “Polaroïd/Roman/Photo” started appearing on bootlegs and compilations in the early 00’s, slowly becoming the cult synth pop classic it is nowadays. An original copy goes for upwards of £300 on ebay and Ruth are a shining light from an oft forgotten music scene that is becoming increasingly influential today.
VA – Ongaku 80 – Alternative Waves From Japan [HLP103]

Collection of no-wave and minimal synth acts from the Japanese post-punk scene. Most of the tracks presented here are reissued for the first time.
Horrid Red – Silent Party [SAB047]

Edmund Xavier’s dark minimal wave project Horrid Red new EP on Soft Abuse. “Silent Party” features the group’s signature style of combining gloomy creepiness with an overall very danceable rhythm pattern, adding up to strangely irresistible party tunes, new wave & post-punk.
Forma – Forma [SP003]

Spectrum Spools present the debut album by Brooklyn’s minimal synth trio Forma. This is a self-styled tribute – and testament – to the enduring power of kosmische. Sumptuously melodic, with flights of improvisational fancy nicely anchored by taut, repetitive drum structures, it’s hard not to fall in love with this record. What really distinguishes Forma from the million devotees of German electronic music is their bold and often unorthodox use of rhythm, at times tending towards metronomic Kraftwerkian synth-pop, at others towards something even more viscous and otherworldly. kraut-influenced analogue electronics.
Martial Canterel & Tobias Bernstrup – Strange Land [MNQ017]

New single on Mannequin Label featuring a real collaboration between Tobias Bernstrup and Martial Canterel, in a sense that Tobias sings on the Martial Canterel-tracks and vice versa.
Modern Art – Circuit Lights (1982-1986) [DOM01L]

Domestica produce a selection which gathers up and represents part of the original work during the most experimental era of Gary Ramon’s music career. The songs that Gary Ramon edited during the Modern Art era (from approximately 1982 to 1989) were basically from cassettes; most of his music didn’t take off outside of the English ‘Underground’ scene in the 80’s.
Xeno & Oaklander – The Staircase [VR022]

First single to be lifted off Xeno & Oaklander’s forthcoming new album ‘Sets and Lights’. Baroque electronic arpeggios and fast celebratory beats drive the surrealist scenario of ‘The Staircase’ in which a staircase continually leads to dead ends. The delicate ghostly female vocals mirror this eternal motion forwards and backwards and up and down. This dark tale takes flight into warm noise ornaments and glistening synth flourishes and comes right back to its core: minimal electronics. ‘Not Afraid’ is a more haunted and dark waltz which takes you to a private enchanted universe of silk, flowers, leather and lace, sheltered away from turbulence and doom.
