Terrence Dixon vs Population One – Concrete Environments EP [MODULARZ020]

This time, Dixon returns under his own name and under his most successful alias, Population One, on one split EP for Developer’s Modularz label. “Code Of Conduct” and “Concrete Playground” represent the Population One side, the first tune being a subdued kick filled with cavernous space above it while the latter is more classic Population One thanks to those bizarre melodic twists. Dixon serves up “Touching Bass” and “The Beholder” on the flip, two jazzy techno sculptures that are instantly recognizable as his own.

Nautil – Canopee [FUR052]

Parisian artist Nautil is a music student specialising in acoustics, signal processing, and informatics. His debut single, Canopée, utilises analog synths, sampling and personal recordings to emphasize the geometrics of nature and music. On the A-side the lead track, Canopée, is a cavernous, pulsing, low-frequency techno colossus destined to hypnotise dark warehouse spaces. On the reverse Galdae is a propulsive tecnoid tweaker while Mue is designed for head rolling after hours with mesmeric synth drones suspended over a brain melting sub-bass pulse.

Lanthan.audio, the newest label from Christian Gerlach, makes it’s debut EP featuring an original mix from UK’s Edit-Select and spotlights remixes from two hypnotic troopers, Claudio PRC and Mike Parker. By combining music with both architecture and photography the goal is to not lose sight of all three art forms. Born out of the desire to deliver a diverse package, the label will feature innovative, indestructible, and powerful remixes from some of his most respected producers.

Sleeparchive – Senza Titolo EP [MORD018]

Fashions and trends may come and go, but Roger Semstroth aka Sleeparchive’s adherence to hypnotic underground techno remains a constant. The intense flurry of bleeps, blips and grimy pulses of “Senza Titolo 1” flow through the speakers. It’s followed by the second “Titolo”, where Semsroth brings up the tempo and adds in some hammering drums. The third instalment marks a divergence of sorts with its blasts of noise and visceral rhythm bearing echoes of Rob Hood, but it’s only a temporary divergence and the fourth track is locked-on techno purism at its finest.

Orbe – Music Of The Sphere [ORB003]

A NASA satellite has confirmed the ancestral tradition of the -music of the spheres-, that celestial bodies emit harmonic sounds. Although the music of the spheres has led first to the notion of universal harmony and then symmetry, it has now been discovered that the Sun s atmosphere actually emits ultrasonic sounds and interprets a score formed by waves that are about 300 times more severe than tones that can be captured the human ear. This time, ORBE represents these sounds.

Jeff Mills – Exhibitionist 2 (Part 1) [AX067]

The first installment of 12″ EP from “Exhibitionist 2” DVD+CD due out in September 2015. In Jeff’s words: “Expanding the art forms in Dance Music has always been an agenda that needs constant monitoring because it has the ability to evolve and develop each and every idea. At angles that are not easy to see or understanding for most of the listening and dancing audiences, I’ve always felt that Dance music would make more sense to the people if they were allowed chances to understand how the music is being programmed and made – to witness this process from beginning.”

Abstract Division – Metropolis [DREF025]

ABSTRACT DIVISION - Metropolis EP

To Abstract Division, the city of Detroit and its artists are a major source of inspiration. As such, they decided their newest Metropolis EP was to be a homage, a means of giving back. This special package includes an original track that keeps close to the spirit of melodic, rhythmic, minimalism Detroit is known for. It also features three very special remixes by close friends Oscar Mulero – under his Trolley Route alias – Function, who ups the darker ante and Marcel Fengler who infuses it with his trademark Berlin funk.

Psyk – Human [MOTE043]

Spanish producer Psyk (a.k.a. Maan or Manuel Anós) is an audio technician who makes good on his name; each of his new releases acting like a steely sonic probe to be launched into the as-of-yet uncharted depths of the psyche. His newest release for the Mote-Evolver label is solid and elemental techno as ever: it fits neatly into the label’s stylistic template of mesmerizing precision yet never forsakes individuality in order to do so. Like Psyk’s other offerings for this label, the new EP works its magic on the central nervous system with a perfectly interwoven blend of up-front anxious sequences and mysterious luminous undercurrents, making for an experience whose energizing effect lasts well after the record has stopped spinning.

Population One – Time Will Tell EP [30DEXO001]

Population One, the legendary project of the Detroit Techno legend, Terrence Dixon, arrives at 30drop to present his new work and unveils the 30drop guest artists release series under the name of: 30drop ExoPlanets. “Time Will Tell” is a conceptual work that exceeds standards. The hypnotic and elegant minimalism of “3.26.2013@11.40pm” harmonic complexity and surrealism jazz of “11.18.2013@1:41am” and “5.26.2012@5.59pm” and the sonic and spatial reverie “12.1.2008@5.48pm” are the four tracks of the EP. Deliciously transgressor, imaginative and ambitious, the work gets into an unexplored territory to the delight of the most avant-garde dance floor.

Steve O’Sullivan – Interchangeable Patterns Part II [SUSH034]

This record sees O’Sullivan inject a little more flavour than what was heard on the Interchangeable Patterns Part 1 release, and he kicks it off with a linear A1 cut that sounds like a reduced Sandwell District production boiled down to suite both the house and techno listener. The A-side’s second track pitches rapid tonal bleeps against phased out percussive snaps, while the B1 delves into deeper, Detroit inspired techno. B2 cut stays in Detroit, while adding some tribal elements to mark an EP that may be the first transmission of change in O’Sullivan’s trademark Mosaic and Bluetrain sound.
