Ike Release – Geospatial EP [MSN026]
It’s Ike Velez aka Ike Release on the jack attack: three super heavy house bombs that have been shutting down our dance for a minute. Chicago born and raised but now living in New York, this is Ike’s first official release for The Mister (though we did put his amazing tune ‘Phazzled’ on our Weekends and Beginnings mix and sampler a couple summers ago).
To the North
From Wednesday until Sunday, we will be wondering on the cold streets of the beautiful Scandinavian city of Stockholm. If you are around don’t hesitate to give us a message!
Gunnar Haslam – Margareten EP [MSN014]
Gunnar Haslam returns to dancefloor pastures with this follow-up for the esteemed NYC Mister Saturday Night imprint. Opener “Poshlost” is trippy and melancholic, with dusty, dub techno-influenced chords ricocheting around a delay-laden sound-space, underpinned by a simple-but-effective rhythm. “Margareten” ups the intensity, with ragged acid lines and a relentless techno groove providing contrast to the deepness of his chords. Finally, “Replacement” sits somewhere between the two tracks, with rolling techno chords, fuzzy textures, gently building melodies and fizzing percussion creating a rush-inducing mood.
Melja – Steady Mobbin’ EP [MSN011]
For this release the New York label has exhumed from Melja three cuts of bottom-end heavy, lo-fi and distorted techno music that will beef up a house set or nestle into a rhythm section of a long haul techno session. “I Won’t Forget” is the heaviest, industrial track on this 12″ while “Steady Mobbin” is body rhythmic, but with out the slam and assault you might hear from say.
Gunnar Haslam – Let a Hundred Flowers Bloom [MSNTEN001]
Gunnar Haslam is a long-time regular at The Mister. By day he’s a scholar of particle physics and signal processing, and by night he makes very heady music, some of which has made its way onto our very first ten-inch release.
Lumigraph – Yacht Cruiser [MSN007]
Lumigraph is Gareth Smyth, a young Dubliner who spent the summer of 2012 living in New York City. He filled his time recording sounds of the streets, making music in a small apartment and going out to parties, which is how he met the Mister Saturday Night guys. The songs on the Yacht Cruiser EP were all recorded in Brooklyn, and they are his first tracks ever to be pressed on vinyl.
Hank Jackson – Deposit EP [MSN006]
Hank Jackson is from Southern California, but he calls Brooklyn home. This is his debute release for Mister Saturday Night, raw jacking and raging Chicago rooted techno tracks.
Dark Sky – In Brackets EP [MSN005]
Mister Saturday Night back with their fifth release this time with the UK’s Dark Sky exploring some cosmic deep house territory.
Anthony Naples – Moscato EP [MSN003]
Second release from Anthony Naples on Mister Saturday Night Records and this one is a beast of a techno track. On his second 12″ he brings two mixes of this tune with the A-side holding down a sweet deep house mix while the flip bangs out a relentless techno mix.
Anthony Naples – Mad Disrespect EP [MSN001]
A new record label from Justin and Eamon, of NYC’s Mister Saturday Night Parties. All the music is lovingly picked by Justin and Eamon, and so far all the records are from new Brooklyn-based artists that they’ve met through the party. The first release is from Anthony Naples. Passion, musicality, restraint, groove: it’s all there. And, crazy factoid, after he was signed, we found out that these were the very first tracks he ever made.
