2020 is definitely not a good year for artists, clubs, festivals or arts in general. Because of the lock-down generated by the Covid-19 pandemic clubs are closed and festivals are canceled every week. Sadly, two of the most interesting electronic music festivals had last year their last edition, Nachtdigital near Leipnitz and Strange Sounds From Beyond in Amsterdam. But, here are the electronic music festivals that we recommend this year in Europe. Hopefully the lock-down will not close this summer and some of these festivals will go on.
We were very excited when, somewhere between July/August, we heard about Ombra festival and soon after we bought the tickets for the festival.
This was actually the first extended edition of the festival, since last year they just had a party in a club with 500 people, so we must consider ourselves really lucky for taking part in this.
At the end of this month we will be heading to Barcelona for one of the most interesting electronic music festivals. Ombra is a project born from the hand of agency WeareWe and label Oraculo Records with the aim of creating a meeting place for lovers of analogue and avant-garde sounds that do not fit in the current cultural offer.
Oráculo Records presents “Ombra Festival Unusual Sounds Gathering Volume 1”, a vinyl compilation created to celebrate the very upcoming second edition of Ombra Festival, that will take place next November 29th and 30th in different spots of Barcelona. Released in a one-off limited edition of 300 copies it includes unreleased material by some of the artists that joined Ombra Festival project and that majorly will be part of the scheduled Ombra Festival live shows. Featuring new music by The Present Moment, Celldöd, Psyche, RNXRX and We Are Not Brothers, “Ombra Festival Unusual Sounds Gathering Volume 1 Limited Edition EP” will be fully unveiled and shipped out next september 27th, coinciding with the press presentation of Ombra Festival 2019.
