Sammy Osmo – Schaduw Horizon [NW017]

Digital re-issue coinciding with the tape release of this 2007 Strange Life CDR DX7 drenched cult spywave album. Very much influenced by real locations in the vicinity of the The Hague dune studio where this was recorded – this imaginary soundtrack scores a hypothetical story of a Cold War animal parapsychologist living in an abandoned zoo.

Franz Falckenhaus – Tupolev System LP [GDLP008]

Danny Wolfers AKA Legowelt AKA the maestro Franz Falckenhaus presents the next Giallo Disco. The obscure, previously CDR only side project Franz Falckenhaus has stood out for many of us as one of Mr Wolfer’s most accomplished works. Full on VHS grained Cold War paranoia. Like if Fulci directed a Bond movie starring Udo Keir and Edwige Fenech. Shades of Fabio Frizzi, Minimal Synth and Aphex Twin, all combine for this cinematic masterpiece. Culled from the three CDs originally released on Strange Life Records, it is with immense pride that we provide this collection for the first time on vinyl, lovingly remastered with exceptional new art by the one and only Eric A. Lee.

Heinrich Dressel – Mons Testaceum [MNQ075]

DRESSEL, Heinrich - Mons Testaceum

Originally released by Legowelt’s Strange Life on a CD-r back in 2007, Mons Testaceum was the debut album from MinimalRome co-founder Heinrich Dressel and the onset of a trilogy dedicated to Monte Testaccio, an artificial mound in Rome composed almost entirely of ‘testae’, fragments of broken amphorae dating from the time of the Roman Empire. Notable for the prominent usage of Elka Synthex, a legendary Roman synthesizer, Mons Testaceum remains a wonderful curio of the Dressel discography and fans of the Italian’s work will delight at the chance to own it on vinyl thanks to MNQ!

Legowelt – Dark Days 1992-1997 [BAKKDD001]

Those familiar with the Strange Life label operated by Danny Wolfers will know it’s rife with CDr material worthy of the vinyl format. Whilst our personal favourite (the bizarre Portopia by Wolfers alias Satomi Taniyama) remains looked over by labels, Berceuse Heroique were responsible for a quite sumptuous double LP edition of Smackos album The Age Of Candy Candy earlier this year. Now local Den Haag crew BAKK have got their hands on 2004 Strange Life album Dark Days for an equally classy triple LP edition. Wolfers fans not familiar with this album will immediately fall in love with Dark Days, thanks to the signature blend of goofy track titles (“Lego Resistance”, “An Obnoxious Affair On Tape”) and music that veers from soaring, synth vistas to grotty techno via cold, primitive electronics and more.

Smackos – The Age Of Candy Candy [BH018]

Smackos is one of Danny ‘Legowelt’ Wolfers lesser-known aliases. It was first used in 2004 for The Age of Candy Candy, a suitably eccentric experimental electronica full-length that was only ever released on CD in limited quantities. Here that album finally appears on vinyl thanks to the efforts of Berceuse Heroique, and it’s every bit as weird, wonderful and out-there as you’d expect, with Wolfers pursuing his passion for spacey, weightless electronics, far-out soundscapes, occasional skuzzy rhythms and dystopian synthesizer workouts. It’s previously been something of a hidden gem in his vast discography, and should be an essential purchase.

F. Mavelli – Special Brigade [B4003]

The Special Brigade – one of Legowelt’s best fictitious classic-italian-late-’70’s-police-horror-cult-movie electronic techno music soundscape. Florenza Mavelli’s Special Brigade soundtrack (aka Uomini Brigata Specialle) an obscure italian tv-series tells the story of an elite special government police unit formed to counter terrorism and organized crime. It first surfaced on the legendary CBS blog late 2007, only to fade into obscurity again after the old CBS’s foreclosure. In 2009 it was remastered from vintage reel to reel tape and released on Danny’s Strange Life label on a CD album. Now Bunker brings it back! It’s great to taste six of those dramatic cuts on vinyl finally.

Words coming from Danny Wolfers aka Legowelt:

“Ok people here it is the new Legowelt album which is free to download for u all Its got a hella lot deep tape saturated forest-techno tracks on it and when I say Techno i dont mean that boooooooooooring contemporary shit they call techno nowadays with overrated tallentless pretentious douchebag cunt DJs playing a few halfassed dumb mongo beats and being all arty fartsy about it.

F*ck that, I am talking about: Raw as fuck autistic Star Trek 1987- Misty Forests- X-FILES,- DETROIT unicorn futurism made on cheap ass digital & analog crap synthesizers recorded in a ragtag bedroom studio on a TEAC VHX cassettedeck in DOLBY C with an unintelligible yet soulfull vivacity.

if you like it you can donate some $ or Euros, Any donation small or large is appreciated u can paypal to: wolfers@xs4all.nl so I can buy more crap synthesizers to make stuff like this and repair my Roland Juno 106 which stopped working  during the recording of this album…probably cause this shit is tooo deep and it just couldn’t handle it…. doesnt matter, the bottom line question is CAN U HANDLE IT???”

The Psychic Stewardess – Spiritual Foundation CD [SLR037]

Strange Life has just announced the release of Spiritual Foundation, a collection of “woolly and smudgey Detroit electronics”, credited to The Psychic Stewardess. Though we’re told that it’s the work of a “part-time stewardess and psychic from the Californian desert town of Palm Springs”, it’s got Danny  Wolfers’ (aka Legowelt) fingerprints all over it, and features his previously available re-rub of the Shinobi video game theme.
