2024 Best Tracks part 9 (of 10)

We start presenting our favorite tracks from 2024. More or less in a chronological order we present here the ninth set of tracks.

Detroit house maverick and FXHE boss man Omar S is back on this recap with his second track, ‘Glass’ is for lovers of lo-fi sounds of the sort that this man has made his signature. Searching synths circle the dusty analogue drums and coarse claps add some raw texture.

We stay in Detroit for this new Cybotron release on Tresor Records. ‘Parallel Shift’ is a new classic from the the Detroit electro master.

From Wrong Era comes ‘Devon Expressway‘ by Bristol-based producer Señor Chugger, with it’s unique blend of euphoric synth lines and sophisticated, arcane themes. A tweeting synthline clambers over the augmented low-end hinting at the central theme to come. Haunting choral synths chant and swathes of pads sweep through the arrangement.

The second in the list by the Duch master Legowelt is ‘Come and See Your Misery‘, out of his new album released on Clone Jack For Daze series.

Rado-Keno‘ is a cosmic disco instrumental with thick drums and synth magic, a German disco experiment from 1982 by Herbert Hildebrandt-Winhauer and Peter Hesslein. This here is a high-energy reimagining of Rado-Keno by Italian producer, Trent for Neptune’s Child.

Going back to Tresor for ‘Multiply Your Absurdities’ by Helena Hauff, her long-awaited 12-inch debut on the Berlin label.

Clone Jack For Daze again, this time with ‘Analysis‘ by prolific house producer Tom Carruthers, with his third track from this list. One of the most house producers of the moment, Tom shows a keen ear for details and a deep appreciation for retro-futuristic influences that made the genre.

Nicolas Balmer is an integral part of the underground alternative music scene in Zürich and forms the band Konstant, wtih Angelo Repetto. ‘Konvention‘ was released on Lux Rec.

Aroy Dee and Miss Jagroe are back on Bordello a Parigi with their project Army Of God. With ‘Fear The Night (Dark Version)‘ the duo turns to darker shades, as a throbbing bass is inked by off-kilter keys, clusters of claps are piercing the thicket of static and chilling chorus and analogue warmth is sliced by surgical synth stabs and bittersweet strings.

Phases‘ by Hayter of the Dog Balls and Westlake & Hayter fame is the third track from KRI that makes it into the 2024 recap. Great string of releases by the Slovenian label.

Last one still to come. Stay tuned.
