DarkateK – Evil Machines [NYH391]

DarkateK was born in Lisbon in 1980 and raised in the midst of the golden era of techno. For many years his most beloved genres and go to styles were breaks and broken techno with some electro and classic techno thrown in for good measure. Now he makes his NYH debut with 4 deep electro cuts. Evenly divided slices of funk and futurism come together in these cuts, that show a developed producer at the top of his game. From the 8 minute opener to the title track, the moods change from time to time from driving and energetic to moody and gloomy. Superbly produced electro that is steeped in the past but has its eye clearly on the future.

PRZ – Beyond The Void [MTRON044]

Marking his first full EP on Mechatronica, PRZ unveils Beyond the Void – a sharp-edged fusion of driving electro and techno pressure. VA – Transcendental Movements Vol. 2 [IDO007]

IDO returns with the second chapter of Transcendental Movements – a series dedicated to active meditation and deep listening. Active meditation is a practice of fully inhabiting the movement of sound. Instead of seeking absolute silence, it invites you to dive into textures, to be carried by frequencies, to follow oscillations like a breath. Every vibration becomes an anchor point, every resonance a gateway inward. In a world saturated with noise and anxiety, this approach offers a space to refocus the body and calm the mind. Here, listening is not passive: it’s an awakened trance where tensions shift and dissolve, leaving only a pure sense of presence. For this second volume, Valentino Mora has gathered a new ensemble of artists exploring the frontier between intimate perception and sonic landscape. The compositions – slow and organic – unfold like micro-universes, at times ethereal, at times dense, designed to guide the listener on a sensory journey that transforms anxiety into movement, and movement into inner peace. Transcendental Movements Vol. 2 is an invitation to listen differently: not to escape, but to return to yourself.

Ozobby Horn – Born to Move [AF1012]

Ozobby Horn was a very obscure band from Nigeria composed of three musicians that only released one and only very hard to find cult album that has finally been reissued by Afrodelic. “Born To Move On” is an absolutely killer album that sums up the best of 1970s Nigerian sound. Heavy wicked psychedelic Afro-funk; phat drums and hefty, chunky bass with shredding fuzz guitar insertions on a bed of analogic keys.

Articulat – Harap-Alb LP [ART001]

Harap-Alb is the first full-length album by Articulat, following a trilogy of EPs (two released on vinyl) and previous appearances on Rotterdam’s Afrobotic Musicology label. This new project deepens Articulat’s commitment to narrative-rich electronic music – blending structure, rhythm, and texture to evoke both dancefloor tension and cinematic storytelling.

“This album is a personal exploration – an attempt to deconstruct and reimagine, through sound, a story that has been familiar to me since childhood. I first encountered Harap Alb as a crackling, timeworn radio play on vinyl, and its atmosphere has lingered with me ever since. This is my way of keeping that story alive, not by preserving it in amber but by passing it forward in a different form.
Perhaps, years from now, someone will discover this record the same way I found the original. And in doing so, they too will add their own craft and love to the tale.”

Tom Bolas – DB12 018 [DB12018]

Berlin-based Tom Bolas has long been one of the most reliable re-editors on the Duca Bianca roster, regularly delivering inspired reworks of Balearic obscurities, flea market record finds and under-appreciated gems. Predictably, there’s a similar sonic aesthetic to his latest collection of re-cuts, his first for four years. Four groovers of Cosmic, Disco and Italo adventures for all.

Ivan – Fotonovela [DR-015]

Official reissue of one of the most enduring anthems of Spanish synthpop with a respectful Luisen remix of Ivan’s classic ‘Fotonovela’. Instead of reinventing the piece, he works directly from the original stems – preserving its neon-soaked melodies and romantic vocal while subtly enhancing the framework with crisp new drum programming with synth flourishes and light tempo corrections.

Mick Harris – Culvert Dub Sessions Four LP [LIES-218]

The Birmingham master, Mick Harris, arrives with his first vinyl installment of his “Culvert Dub Sessions” series. Mick has taken to the studio desk with his live hands on mixing approach and conjured up 8 tracks of classic, deep, slow rolling dub techno in the traditions of the greats. Think heavy nautical dub outs, windswept delays, low ends to make you seasick, high freqs cutting through the scenery, this is Harris at his finest. No holds barred, sincere electronics from the gut in pure form. A perfect soundtrack for a chilly fall sunset on the river bank.

Etceteral – Kimatika LP [GB175LP]

Kimatika, the 3rd album by the Slovenian audio-visual trio Etceteral, is a visceral plunge into the raw undercurrents of futuristic jazz, motoric propulsion, free improv and elastic compositions. A growling baritone sax weaves through pulsating electronics and restless drums; the bass frequencies dense and cavernous. It is an arresting and thick tapestry of texture and tension, where noise and polyrhythms collide with urgent, melodic riffs.

J.E. Movement – Ma Dea Luv [AFS057]

J.E. Movement’s groundbreaking ‘Ma Dea Luv’. Toward the end of the 1980s South Africa’s recording industry was booming. Searching for a sound that could cross over to all in the country’s segregated society while also eyeing international success, a new duo emerged that quickly rendered its ‘bubblegum’ predecessors obsolete. Drawing on international trends and crafting lyrics for local ears, J.E. Movement – a duo made up of James Nyingwa and Elliot Faku – exploded onto the local scene with their debut album, ‘Ma Dea Luv’. The future had arrived. The six tracks on J.E. Movement’s 1988 debut give firm nods to UK Street Soul, New Jack Swing and Stock Aitken Waterman’s ‘Hit Factory’ sound and infuse them with an African rhythmic flair and homegrown lyrical sentiment.
