Takaaki Itoh / Adriana Lopez – Grey Report 04 [GR004V]
Spanish techno outpost Grey Report welcomes Takaaki Itoh to join the fold and share some vinyl space with the Adriana Lopez. Itoh’s tracks adorn the A side, dealing in appropriately monochromatic workouts that keep the synths icy and cold and the rhythms ever snaking forwards, dodging the pitfall of becoming sluggish while laying down an appropriate amount of weight at the same time. Lopez meanwhile has a touch more colour going on with “Between Thoughts” and “Metodo” while adhering to the demands of cyclical techno.
MFO – Future City Traffic Part 2 [DKMNTL019]
After making their debut on Dekmantel not so long ago, Italian duo Dario Di Pace and Massimo Di Lena, together known as Mephisto Frequency Oscillator (MFO) now serve up part two of the Future City Traffic EP. Across four new tracks they continue to explore grainy, dirty house that is variously soulful, funky or cosmic in nature.

Unstoppable youngster Innershades comes with a new limited four tracker on the Pinkman imprint. The Belgium based talent shows hes definitely not a one trick pony and continues to explore his sound even further. This time by releasing two phat old school electro inspired bangers, and two synthesizer (nu)disco tracks which already proved to be fully effective on the floor.
Versalife – Collision With The Past I [FR029]
Sometimes people from different environmental backgrounds cross paths with one another through similar interests, and they notice that they have more in common then a certain taste in music alone. Boris Bunnik (aka Conforce) is hailing from the small scenic Dutch island Terschelling, that can be seen as the complete opposite environmental background as the dirty streets of Rotterdams South Side that drew the first guidelines for Frustrated Funk’s watchword: Mad Drama From Everyday Life. Although the background is opposite, the drama and struggle of daily life seem to have more similarities then one would expect. Struggling creative minds searching for correct paths, fighting to keep focused with daily routines, burning ships, moving forward, trying to bend negativity into something positive, writing music as an outlet for their compulsive need to create. This is our game. No hits, no hype, no bullshit, just the real deal, bringing timeless techno from the heart that will always stay untouched. So here’s FR029, experimental techno from the young master mind thats Versalife.
Caron – Dualism EP [TRSD-W001]
Transcendent starts a white label (hand stamped) series besides the regular label output. The first release is by Leeuwardens finest electronic music veteran Marcel Caron, hailing from the North of the Netherlands. He presents two carefully crafted dark haunting uncompromising ambient techno tracks. Prepare for an ultimate dystopia of dark hardware electronics. Including two Hexagon (aka Conforce) remixes for the different hours.
Volkan Akaalp – Baskin OST [GD006]
Giallo Disco journeys further east with the release of Baskin. Our first original soundtrack written by Turkish composer Volkan Akaalp for the short film by enfant terrible Can Evranol (To My Mother And Father). Baskin tells the story of four cops discovering a nightmare of Lovecraftian proportions during a routine investigation. This incredible soundtrack is an eastern twist on the works of Fabio Frizzi, industrially corroded by early 90s R&S Records. Shot independently in Istanbul, Turkey, during the height of the Gezi riots Baskin has been described as ”Disgusting. Disorienting. Brilliant” by Horror director Eli Roth. Comes with a full colour sleeve and two exclusive remixes on the b-side by Giallo Disco heads Vercetti Technicolor and Antoni Maiovvi.

From the dystopian future of 1997 the legendary warrior unit known as Unit Black Flight, is now a lone survivor in a world gone mad. ‘Tracks From The Trailer’ is the sound of one man’s weapons upgrade montage as he prepares to escape Indianapolis and heads ol’ Californy-Way to the beat of a LinnDrum. Giallo Disco Records are proud to present the incredible Unit Black Flight, who’s previous releases on Bunker, Strange Life and Seed have never been too far from our DJ Bags. The ‘Tracks From The Trailer’ EP comprises of remastered cuts from the 2012 digital only release, plus a special remix from Minimal Rome’s Heinrich Dressel. This is Horror Disco at its finest.

Legendary release from Rago & Farina finally remastered and repressed on Fred Ventura’s own imprint. A fantastic Italo-disco bomb with all the ingredients and hallmarks of a true dance floor gem of its era (male vocal, female sensual vocal in foreign language, driving bassline, space aged synth and hard energy).
Starion – Mindbender EP [RL009]
Serious Italo authenticity from Manchester, Starion (a man who seems to be wholly motivated by sci-fi and synths) lays down a blisteringly slick synthetic serenade in the form of “Hypnoto Roboto”. Reminiscent of the work of Riccardo Cioni but with added automaton frontage, it’s a fine flashback to the early 80s by way of contemporary production oomph. Remix-wise Kid Machine adds a dubbier, almost Chicken Lips style flex. Further on Starion gets his synth boogie on with “Mindbender” while “Moonbase Alpha” is another journey through time and space that touches on classic electro as well as Italo. Laced with heady melodies, you can almost smell the emotion.
Pye Corner Audio / Not Waving – Intercepts [ELP006LP]
Intercepts is a split album between Pye Corner Audio and Not Waving. Drawing inspiration from the shadowy world of espionage both producers embark on a voyage of forward thinking yet backwards compatible, cosmic tinged, techno excursions. Pye Corner Audio leads off with ‘Perfect Secrecy Forever’, centering on a progressive, doddering synth pattern paired against muted thuds whereas Not Waving opts for something a little more direct with ‘Protecting The Revolution’ oozing with dark, italo disco vibes owing to it’s dominating, feral arpeggio. The clandestine spirits permeate these eight tracks of dreamlike industrial techno, impressionist synth burbles, fragmented post-modern ambient and cosmic sci-fi adventure.
Das Ding – Sequencer [DHF002]
Danny Bosten is back with brand new material as his Das Ding pseudo. Don’t expect this guy to ruminate on his eighties material though. This is about moving forward. ‘Sequencer’ contains four stoned, late night, modular synth explorations. With a far out, heavy dub feel for ”space”, this tape will find fans of Aphex Twins’ SAW 85-92, drooling all over it.
Opera Multi Steel – Opera Multi Steel EP [DE067]
Opera Multi Steel was born during the winter of 1983 in Bourges, a city in the center of France. The band started off as a trio with Franck Lopez (Vocals, Keyboards, Guitars), his brother Patrick L. Robin (Vocals, Percussion) and Catherine M. Marie (Keyboards, Vocals). They began to record demos utilizing a Elex Keyboard, Casio VL-Tone, Roland TR-606 drum machine, guitars and pedals. Layering organ-like keyboards over drum machine snares and a woodwind recorder, they created a unique style of Medieval or Baroque synth pop. The result was a 4-song debut, eponymous EP, released in 1984 on their own label Orcadia Machina. The songs range from fast and bright, New Wave influenced by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark’s “Electricity” and slower, brooding Darkwave ballads like “17 Seconds” “Faith” era Cure. All songs were sung in French with lyrics about feeling of nihilism, disgust with life and escaping to a botanical garden in search of redemption. It was a pre-cursor to their darker and classic French coldwave sounds of their debut album “Catherdrale” released the following year.

The first release by Worn Pop Records, independent label from Kiev, Ukraine, curated by Nikita Mekalin. Tracks by Ukrainian acts Cold Comfort, Aircraft, Geuxx, Londoners Sundaze and Neiv from Italy.
Simoncino – Abele Dance [LIES053]
The impressively prolific Nick Anthony Simoncino returns to L.I.E.S, some two years on from his last outing for Ron Morelli’s acclaimed imprint. Simoncino rarely strays from his tried-and-tested blueprint – think vintage synths, crusty drum machines, and tracks influenced by classic Chicago house, proto-house, acid and Detroit techno – and Able Dance is no different. Its expansive melodies, sweaty rhythms, spacious chords and darting electronics are, though, particularly appealing. The heady positivity of “Io Rhythm” is probably our pick, though the spooky atmosphere and bongo-laden groove of “Able Dance” is similarly impressive. Despite its’ ghostly nature, it still feels strangely exotic.
MD III – Acid Chaser EP [MAMSW009]
Three previously unreleased Mike Dunn recordings taken from sessions recorded between 1989-91, recorded under his MD III alias. Drum machines, 303s and a few crusty synths is, by the sounds of it, what created Mike Dunn’s Acid Chaser EP for Sheffield label MoreaboutMusic. It’s the Chicago legend’s first release as MDIII since 1993 and, production-wise, not much seems to have changed in those 21 years. Acid. Drums. Grit. It’s all here, beginning with the clap-heavy and bouncing squelch-line of “No Chaser”. The B-side provides two tracks with the beat down drums of “Acid Feet” sounding as big a Maurice Fulton production, while the 303 bleep of “Club Music World” will draw whoops and cheers from dancers and DJs alike.
