Echologist – Good Vibrations EP [ECHOCORDCOLOUR034]

Brendon Moeller dons the notorious Echologist moniker again for some superbly executed dub techno experiments and finds a rather fitting home on Kenneth Christiansen’s Echocord imprint. The slo-mo, sci-fi dub of “Bent” is so vivid and smoked out that you can almost hear the lighter going off in the background; some serious darkside bass therapy on this one. “Repeat Rate” is more straight ahead on this stomping yet hypnotic techno track with some immaculate dub chords. Finally on “Good Vibrations” he works those resonators and dub delays like a true master in a wonderful exercise in restraint that’s perfect to build the vibe or equally transition out of the peak time with style.

Techno in his pure form! New amazing Planete Rouge by Brendon Moeller aka Echologist. Four trippy and dark techno athems. Brendon Moeller – Passage To Obscurity [AS002]

Atrophic Society welcomes Brendon Moeller for it s second release, delivering 2 deeply textured and emotive technoscapes. Wielding a warbled bassline and synthetic bleeps with a masters touch, the title track meanders within a natural landscape, fuzzing and washing around descending chirps and following the call of a distant foghorn, leading us through the Passage to Obscurity.Vohkinne takes the delicacies of the original and hammers them into submission, where the original meanders the remix charges, bringing the distant foghorn into focus as a challenging and stubborn lead. Closing out the EP, Contents Under Pressure surges forward with an insistent Bleep, purging and cleansing itself through gnarling bass, never questioning its purpose as it takes you to a higher state.

Echologist – Storming Heaven [PRGLP005]

Beat Pharmacy man Brendon Moeller delivers his fourth full-length, his first since 2011. In typical fashion, there’s a twisted, druggy intensity to the music, which flits between psychedelic electronica (see opener “The Frequency of Love” and vaguely tropical “Stepping Out”), tough, acid-tinged techno beatscapes (“Guilty Pleasure”), dub-influenced sludge (the excellent title track), and dubstep-influenced industrial spookiness (“Deep Fried”). For all the murkiness on display, there are moments of startling beauty and almost alarming clarity, with the samba shuffle and sun-flecked melodies of “Tricks of the Shade”, and picturesque, humid “Lost” standing out.

Brendon Moeller – Reconcile [POM035]

Pomelo’s newest outing is delivered by the NYC based producer extraordinaire Brendon Moeller, a real master in the field of techno and dub. The EP’s title track promises a subtle fusion of house and techno through a loosly swinging techno groove, and duly delivers with echoing chord cascades and spluttering sound effects. Machiavellian impulse picks up the intensity with a more direct, pounding beat, to which stuttering, spacious stabs add an element of deepness and dub. Loudness Sustain Decay finally has a whole side to itself, starting out as a lofty house mover, with a pulsing wild pitch synths slowly adding tension until the track’s wild finale.

Echologist – Geographic [MRECLTDGS006]

Cover art - Echologist: Geographic

Subtlety and class are what ultimately set apart certain techno releases from the multitude of records coming out each week. With this new four track EP on M_REC Ltd. Grey Series, Echologist (aka Brendon Moeller) skillfully incorporates a wide range of ideas, delivering an affective and fascinating piece of unconventional far out techno. ‘Impossibility’, the opening track, stands at the crossroad of dub techno and so-called mutant house, with its mean bass drum carrying a smooth analog melody through a field filled with sharp and trippy sounds, in a journey that is dark and sexy at the same time. ‘Geographica’ is more experimental, with its proggy and psychedelic sounds laid on a set of mutating beats traveling through rawness and distortion. Stuff that can only come out of real machines. On the flip side, ‘Too Far Gong’ is an oppressive and haunting track: dark spaced out electro. The closing track, ‘Drug Company’ remains on the same trajectory, but pusher things farther on an heavier dubby drumscape, taking advantage of the brain-liquifying properties of piercing sounds. Meant to belong in every dark and uncompromising set.

Jeff Derringer – Situational Ethics [MRECLTD014]

Jeff Derringer fashions hypnotic loops into deep and darkly charged techno. Now comes Situational Ethics, Jeff’s first full three-track EP. Over “Ambition”, “Compassion” and “Shame” Jeff Derringer masterfully builds tension with shamanic cyclical rhythms and punishing basslines, weaved here into potent and intoxicating concoctions from haunted beginning, viper-laden middle to heavyweight end. Electric Deluxe bedfellow Brendon Moeller then concludes the EP with a rework of “Shame” plied with signature Moeller-crafted sounds over a punchy, turbulent beat that only just about lifts Jeff Derringer’s powerful spell.

Eshu – Timeless EP [ESHU003]

The Eshu people return on their own imprint with the ‘Timeless ep’, a trippy and funky techno release for the after hours. The A-side gives us MM, a 10 minute long funk experience full of summery vibes. A slowbuilding beat gently moves on while beautiful chords start to grow and evolve out of nothing. The ‘Echologist Dub’ by Brendon Moeller takes the original and adds some thought out drum patterns, lush chord stabs and tight percussion. ‘Timeless’ is all about getting in the right mood. All it takes is a steady beat, some sharp hats and a couple of hypnotic layered tones and chords to do the work, this is one is for the afterhours.

Joachim Spieth – Sensualized [AFFIN108]

Joachim Spieth returns on Affin with a superb remix ep of his successful tune „Sensual“ from the label‘s 100th release. Therefore Spieth included Brendon Moeller, Reggy Van Oers & Jamal Moulay. Brendon Moeller comes up with flowing fx lines, fat stabs, nice added chords, just a massive reshape. Reggy Van Oers version is more on the chords. So this one tends to be a straight but very clear sounding techno trip you won‘t forget. Jamal Moulay shows a different insight on it. A fat kick, layered chords and some nice acid extracts on a base that seems to develop constantely.

Echologist – Subterranean [SFV10CD]

https://i2.wp.com/images.junostatic.com/300/CS422172-01A-MED.jpg

Brendon Moeller, aka Echologist and Beat Pharmacy, will release his seventh full length album. “Subterranean” is a deeply narcotic listening experience. Subtly evolving atmospheres, hypnotic sub-basslines, reverb-soaked drones and lush vibrating textures abound. All elements possess their own pulse and cadence, but stay in sync to create an otherworldly sub-aquatic experience. The album gently ebbs and flows as exquisite modulations and articulations create a mesmerizing ambience that is at times as propulsive as it is passive.
