An anthem on 1000s of mixes, tapes and shows on the likes of influential radio stations like Chicago’s infamous WBMX where it helped pave the way to the sound and styles of numerous early house pioneers such as Frankie Knuckles (the track was a major inspiration for ‘Your Love’) and Lil Louis. Amsterdam, 1982. Smoke fills the streets, squatters clash violently with the police, uprising is in the air. In this disorderly mess, the worlds of activism, art, fashion, and nightlife converged into an explosion of creativity. Amidst all of this Electric Party, the brainchild of René van Rijn, released the ‘Work’ tape on Amsterdam label Fetisj, now a cult cassette for the few who remember. Forty years ago they created this unique blend of no wave, mutant disco, funk, and experimental music. This record consists of 3 of the best tracks from the ‘Work’ tape and 6 unreleased tracks from forgotten cassette tapes, all remastered and restored where necessary. Among them the unreleased anthem ‘Caribe’, which was recorded in Spain as the opening track for a Spanish discotheque in 1987.

Oscillating between melodic industrial and shaky psychedelic music, Mr. de Sie overcomes his first 3 tracks with a static approach of electronic low drifts – in that sense, we decided to call it a soundtrack “to schuss”, in dedication to all our skiing friends from here and there. For his 1st release, Marcel de Sie is joined by Greek producer Anatolian Weapons and Belgian’s Victor de Roo for the remixes.

O Yuki Conjugate return to Utter for the vinyl version of their most recent album. ‘Sleepwalker’ documents O Yuki Conjugate’s 2017-2019 live shows but also doubles as the soundtrack to a film of the same name by founder member Andrew Hulme. The music and images were conceived together and the resulting album comprises 10 tracks taken from 24 live performances in nine countries across Europe. ‘Sleepwalker’ captures OYC’s current musical direction, a blend of plangent keyboards, abstract guitars and electronic rhythms, presented in OYC’s inimical style.

Heerd / Noah Skelton – Stomping Grounds 006 EP [SG006]
The Romanian label Stomping Grounds is putting together their first split EP. The release shareds graciously between Romanian duo Heerd and Irelands Noah Skelton. Starting off with the acid-edged peak timer “Hellrot”, going through the atmospheric depth and hypnoticism of “Kamaals Groove” and “Persistence”, the EP is neatly finished with a healthy “Balance” of rolling hats and percussion.
Kaidi Tatham – An Insight To All Minds [FW228]
First Word Records presents a brand new album from Kaidi Tatham. On ‘An Insight To All Minds’, Kaidi says it’s ”not about a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going. Nothing in this world can torment you as much as your own thoughts… We are all going through it. We can all feel what the next person is feeling, believe it or not. It’s learning how to tap into it”. The album is comprised of an assortment of Kaidi’s unique flavours – uptempo jazz-funk bruk, laced with rhodes, flutes, live bass and delicious percussion. Using that blueprint he moves effortlessly through latin and samba, half-step, deep afro house and a sprinkle of curveballs, all presented in Kaidi’s inimitable way.

After a long lockdown break, Delights label returns with a 7inch debut by Sapria – a spontaneous meeting of creative minds from Berlin and Jerusalem: Sun Ra Bullock (X.A. Cute/Edelfaul Records) and Markey Funk (Group Modular/Delights) – on keys, Itai Anker (Hynom/Andarta/Raash Records) – on bass, and Yadin Katz (The Turbans/YMKA) – on drums. Captured in their only studio session back in late 2018 – and finalized by Markey Funk two years later, the collective’s first release is an edgy drum-heavy horror-funk double-sider, largely inspired by classic late 70’s video nasties.

Anthony Rother links up with Detroit heavyweights Keith Tucker and DJ Di’jital for a deep exploration of psionic robot engineering and extrasensory electro styles. Truly extending the work of Kraftwerk and others, Anthony, Keith and Lamont came to define electro in the late 90s and tirelessly continue to develop their sound to this day, culminating in the Psi Robotics EP – a cold scan of the minds of future machines and their hypnotic influence.
