FIT Siegel – Formula EP [FIT-025]

After five years of on-off collaborations and side projects, Aaron ‘FIT’ Siegel has finally got round to making a new solo record. The A-side “Exist On” delivers a brilliant blend of breakbeat-driven turn of the ’90s grooves, chunky bass, ultra-dreamy chords and the kind of bleeping top-end melodies. Title track “Formula” moves even further towards bleep techno territory via deep space chords, thumping techno beats, Kraftwerkian lead lines and the kind of distorted analogue bass found on LIES releases, while “Wayne County Stomp” sounds like a mutated, mind-altering cover of Steve Poindexter’s “Computer Madness”. Dedicated to those who find transcendence through music.

Unknown – Unknown [EST83-04]

A lost relic from the 80’s Detroit underground. This ”demo” recording is from a cassette found in a dusty box of donations left at a second hand shop. There is no info as to who, when or where this was recorded. What is it? Post Punk? Disco (Not) Disco? Sleaze Wave? or Mutant Surf? It doesn’t matter because its fucking incredible whatever you want to call it! A glimpse into what could/should have been a very important band had they gone further than this one track demo. 7” with original mix and an edit from FIT on the flip. Artwork by Stallone The Reducer. Made in collaboration with Lo and Behold Records in Hamtramck, MI. 200 copies for the world.

Fit Siegel – Carmine / First Found [FIT012]

A moody techno classic perfect for the lonely season. Subtle, low-key and thumping, the title track revolves around a bittersweet piano lead, elegiac 303 and Blade Runner string swells. It’s a high-tech driving song in the tradition of Model 500’s low-key classic ”Pick Up The Flow” and FIT sounds more assured than ever. ”First Found” is Mills-ian jigsaw puzzle techno imbued with breathy and addictive humanity. Stacatto, free-jazz informed piano solos lock into ping-pong synths — eventually, a female vocal emerges over a bed of arpeggiated bass. Loose yet robotic, ”First Found” is first-rate Detroit techno mysticism.

For his follow up to certified underground hits “Tonite” and “Enter the Fog”, Fit Siegel retains a firm embrace of both melody and rhythm. “Cocomo” is Siegel’s most delicate, and beautiful track to date. While, “Seedbed” snaps the listener back to the dancefloor with a syncopated acid earworm. For his label’s tenth release, Fit presents two fully-realized, divergent sounds, obviously able to harness the energy of his unpredictable DJ sets in the studio. This marks the return of one of Detroit’s most exciting young producers and further establishes Fit Sound as a hotbed of fearless dance music.

Two previously unreleased mixes of “Tonite” by Aaron “FIT” Siegel, with vocals by L’Renee. The O.G. mix is a version Fit started working on to be a dub version of “Tonite- Original Mix”, but morphed into something a bit more epic, and due to time constraints could not make it on the initial release. The D.D. version, is based on the original demo track Fit wrote before any vocals were recorded, then edited and dubbed out by Omar-S. If you liked the original release on FXHE, be sure to have this one as well and if you don’t have the original release then you better get that one too.
