Arttu – UFO Funkin’ / Passing Out Privileges [ROYAL020]

Arttu is back with two tight tracks in his trademark raw jacking house sound. Chicago rooted house music drenched in a heavy dose of interstellar boogie. A-side is the shuffling bassline driven UFO-funkin’ that goes all crazy. AA side is Arttu featuring Detroit’s Jerry The Cat. Both tracks comes in vocal and instrumental version. Instrumentals take things back to the bare essential and are total basement workouts.

Tief is well know in London and beyond as being a clubnight where it resides at Corsica Studios, showcasing house and techno of only the highest quality, a standard that is now to be transferred to a record label Tief Music releasing music that we truly love from artists who have a connection with us or what we do. Tief001 comes from two close friends of Tief who are releasing music for the first time under the guise ‘Sisterhood’. The 2 original tracks capture the atmospheres, moods and energy that fits so well with Tief’s ethos and demonstrates a real skill for using analogue instruments to hair-raising effect. On remix duties we find Arttu and Juju & Jordash.

Clone Royal Oak and Chicken Lips present Randee Jean. A new project by Dean Meredith and Andrew Meecham (Chicken Lips, Bizarre Inc) delivering some classic jazzy rhodes driven UK house vibes! Classy production and some fine recorded instruments and vocals on the original mix. Dexter & Awanto3 teamed up for the occasion and deliver two fresh and sharp remixes. Arttu, the Finnish boy wonder played around with the recordings too and came up with a heavy 4/4 thump with layers of samples that let the funk out.

Arttu – Tune In [ROYAL015]

Arttu is back on Royal Oak after his critically acclaimed Nuclear Funk / Get Up Of It release late 2011. Another split single featuring two Detroit Jazz and Funk vocalists. The female poet Diamondancer on Tune In and the his buddy from Jerry The Cat on Move! Arttu smoothly blends his roots in the best house traditions with contemporary influences on these two tracks.

Arttu – Set You Free [4LUX1204]

Cover art - Arttu: Set You Free

Arttu returns on 4lux and he returns on form with two new cuts. Summin Bout Drums is a dirty and sleazy house affair. The Finnish producer now residing in Berlin comes with two fat versions of his own while Basic Soul Unit provides for a frantic remix with a crazy acid vibe. Set You Free is a bumping track with hard hitting drums cut up vocals and harsh synth elements.

Arttu – Soul Stream [4LUX1201]

Arttu comes with his first single for 4lux. “Attic House” is a filthy club banger with heavy bassline and cut up vocal bits. Gerd re-arranges the track and adds more drama to the strings coming in halfway throughout the track. “Soul Stream” is a deeper Detroit-ish nugget with nostalgic feel. Yet again Arttu’s trademark of slamming beats & bass combined with cut-up vocals snippets profide for an insane jackin’ track. Last but not least Snuff Crew comes with a heavy re-work on “Attic House”.

Arttu – Transfiguration [PHP057]

ARTTU - Transfiguration (Front Cover)

Lisbon-based producer Arttu Sellman release the second two-tracker for Philpot.  Both the title track and flipside “Upwards” bear the aural hallmarks and raw drum machine sounds of early house and techno. While the latter is a driving fusion of drifting vocal samples, fuzzy beats and brain-melting acid bass, it still retains the analogue swing and evocative feel of the immaculate title track. While neither track could be described as revolutionary, both offer an attractive package of spellbinding grooves and intoxicating analogue riffs.

Arttu ft. Jerry the Cat – Nuclear Funk [ROYAL011]

Arttu aka Lump would be jamming in his Lisbon studio with Detroit’s Jerry the Cat! These tracks are the perfect first collaboration between Arttu, Jerry the Cat and Clone records!! Playful and funky old schoolish house tracks with the joyfull vocals of Mr Cat all recorded during some live sessions in Lisbon where they both reside. Arttu went back to some intuitive drum programming for these live sessions and made simple funky drum machine patterns around nice hypnotic basslines. Vocals and additional percussion still have some of that live feel after the tracks have been arranged and mixed.

Gerd & Elbee Bad – H.O.U.S.E. [4LUX1104]

Track artwork

Gerd is delivering a massive chicago influenced track called H.O.U.S.E. featuring the voice of L.B. Bad, The Prince Of Dance Music. This track was originally penned in 1994 when Gerd had Elbee over to tour the Benelux. The track was released on an obscure limited edition white label only back then, but here a new rework of these old recordings. 2011 sees the track remixed by Gerd himself and he takes the tune into rough & uncompromising analogue territory with filthy synth bassline and relentless TR808 action. Jakob Korn, Arttu and Neville Watson are on remix duty and deliver some fresh remix that complete this record.
