Ricardo Miranda – Black Acid [HHYR008]
We’re going back to the roots again! Chicago producer Ricardo Miranda kicks it raw with this acid burner. This steady club track already caught the ears of Rick Wilhite, who will include Ricardo Miranda in his upcoming Vibes Compilation album. On the b-side we have Chicago head Legowelt doing a remix, which is a tribute to the late 80s Chicago era. Deep and moody. Essential house stuff!
Jared Wilson – Ghettoblaster [7777002]
Jared Wilson is keeping the acid alive in Detroit. ”Ghettoblaster” is Jared’s second release on his label 7777. ”This Love,” is a slower deep track with haunting 303 bassllines and a a voice chanting This Love. The title track, ”Ghettoblaster” is an jacking stomper for the floor. ”Last Two,” is a very nice Chicago influence acid beat track. Our favorite is the intens This Love with amazing 303 which sounds like Aphex Twin doing chicago house.
Tevo Howard – Crystal Republic [HHYR7]
Tevo Howard is the new unsung hero of Chicago house music! After his debut 12” for Hour House Is Your Rush “Move”, Tevo now delivers a six track double pack. All six tracks are warm, emotional, raw, hypnotic, long and deep tracks and take us back to the original vibe of Chicago house music. Though his tracks are heavily inspired on the early days, his productions sound very crisp and ‘today’.
Garcon Taupe / Legowelt – Split LP Series #4 [NM039]
With smashing contributions by electro lord Legowelt from dirty brown The Hague and bleep addict Garçon Taupe from the bourgeois slums of Amsterdam, Narrominded presents the fourth installment in its renowned Split LP Series. Both sides of this Split LP comprise a whole EP in length, and the contributions have in common that they are both deeply rooted in electro music. Side one brings Garçon Taupe – wittenburg ep with some Commodore, amiga influenced electonica with a touch of acid. Split side is for Legowelt – land rovers in astrophysics ep. 4 tracks in the well known Legowelt style… West Coast disco, electro jack shizzle.

Four track EP by label owner Aroy Dee. The first track Once U Loved, is warm and emotional, with slowly evolving strings topped with mysterious whispering vocals, reminding to older Blake Baxter material. 2nd track, Tears is a fierce and sexy Chicago-house influenced dancetrack, with a solid baseline, steady beats and lush keys. First track on the B-side is Lift Me High, a downtempo dreamlike analogue house classic with haunting strings and vocals of miss Salvador, merging Larry Heard and G-Strings with an Italo-disco kind of atmosphere. Last on this EP is Soul Spark, an atmospheric techno track with the raw energy of early Relief-releases and the psychedelia of Dance Mania.

After his “A Prescription of Love EP” which was heavily charted by more than 50 high profile DJs & artists such as Prosumer to Panorama Bar DJs in Berlin to the writers at Fact UK etc, Marcello Napoletano returns with his debut album “The Space Voodoo”. Napoletano pulls influences from a wide range of sources – from the electronic sounds of Brian Eno, the experimental values of Miles Davis, classic Chicago house by Larry Heard, jazz by Monk, Todd Edwards garage to the deep St. Germain. T&K is the duo of DJ KAOS and TIAGO. The music is piano and guitar filled house music that takes us back to Chicago circa 1991 with mellow vibes that build and build.
Disco Nihilist & Daetron Vargas – Love What You Feel EP [CP01]
Hot on the heels of his debut 12inch on Love What You Feel, Disco Nihilist teams up with Daetron Vargas to kick-start another brand new US label called Construction Paper. Disco Nihilists lo-fi rhythms are augmented with Daetron Vargas melodic sensibilities on the A1 cut that locks listeners into its hypnotic groove. The collaboration continues on the B1 with a low down acid track that strips the groove down to the bone. Ruthless hardware minimalism is also the philosophy here, with swung 707 beats and tweaked 303 that are only slightly augmented with delay to deliver a driving dancefloor joint. In true old-school style, the Drum Mix of A1 completes the B side, sure to please all the jocks who fiend for more new rhythm trax. Rounding out the release is a stunning solo jam by Daetron Vargas, in the A2 position, whose bare-bones production belies its considerable emotional qualities. Daetrons track sounds like a lost first-wave Detroit gem that has spent the last 20 years decaying on a basement shelf. The primitive fidelity gives the track a raw edge that cannot be duplicated in-the-box with >vintage< plug-ins. This release is yet another step in the establishment of the new deep house and techno underground in the United States that combines old equipment and production techniques with modern ideas to take the sounds forward.
Tevo Howard – Move [HHYR5]
More Chicago tracks find its way on the HHYR label. This time the talented Tevo Howard (of Beautiful Granville Records fame) debuts on the label with a classic sounding track “Move”. Tevo blesses us with two versions of this jacking track. “Move” comes as original and an even rawer acid mix. With this release Tevo confirms that he is one of the most prominent Chicago house producers today.
