Robert Crash – Edonism [DIN012]

Dog in the Night staple Robert Crash gets back at it with a new EP of house madness. The Italian producer once again shows us why he’s the boss, clocking in with another four tracks of acid fueled beaters. Off kilter beat tracks that are sure to get the tweakers in a frenzy, this is what house is and should be.

Michael Ferragosto – Kill All Criminals [DIN011]

Michael Ferragosto is back on Italy’s own Dog in the Night label with four new twisted psychedelic house cuts. As usual we hear the artist taking the traditional blueprints of Chicago House and putting his own signature chops to it resulting in a bizzare mix up of jacking madness that will get the floor going wild.

Marcello Napoletano Presents Ra Toth and the Brigantes Orchestra – Introspettivo EP [BH025]

The last time that Marcello Napoletano flew this far off the radar was on Jamal Moss Mathematics label back in 2012. Now the follow up release comes on another outsider label, Berceuse Heorique and again, Napoletano treats the listener to another freeform selection. While the Italian producer’s house grooves have always been unconventional, going all the way back to Listen In Dreaming, this is in a whole different realm of weirdness. “Introspettivo” kick starts the release with doubled up beats and mad percussive whirrs and clicks and deranged cowbells. “New Old Think” goes in a jazzy direction with sax squalls fused with Patrick Pulsinger-style atmospherics and “Sunplasemood” ends the release with dubbed out beats and space invader bleeps.

Michael Ferragosto – Pissing On Your Head [DIN008]

Robert Crash’s IFM partner Marcello Napoletano returns to his Michael Ferragosto alias who has seen prior releases on Steve Pointdexter’s Muzique Records with a new five track EP. As with all of the other Dog in The Night releases, this 12 is food for the working dj. True to form beating Chicago jack tracks, twisted acid cut ups, and slam dancing warehouse grooves that will get the pit started at your next jam.

VA – Strings Of Love [KSR011]

Kinda Soul Recordings is back with a 3 track ep featuring Chet, Mnks (a project by M.Napoletano & Ksoul), Isoul8 & K.Tatham. “Strings of love” by Chet is an obscure sexy house track done in Dresden. “Collapsing Machines” by Ksoul & M.Napoletano is a sinister jazzy industrial track produced live in one take only at Marcello’s studio a couple of years ago trying to explore many sides of our musical taste. The b-side feature an awesome unreleased track by the reverend Isoul8 & Kaidi Tatham on keys.

Michael Ferragosto – Synthdrome At The Disco [MUZIQUE011]

Marcello Napoletano presents Michael Ferragosto’s “Synthdrome at the disco” a banging four track EP starting with “Amore jacking per 77” & followed by “Risque Intentions”. On the flip, “V2021” and the title track continue with the raw Chicago influenced warehouse vibe, old drum machines & synths. Some deep acid trax.

Jack Curtu – Senza Via D’Uscita [LXRC009]

In Italy’s deepest south, where summer sun is harsh and burns you at midday, sweat is real. You can smell, taste and feel it. It’s cold sweat. From constant fear, that haunts people in the dusty streets like shadows. Some say, it’s only paranoia. But you can’t deny the kidnappings, the stick-ups and the killings. Police is doomed to watch, hands cuffed, since the power lays in the hands of others. Who are they? They are invisible. You can only see the bloodshed and the tears. And like everywhere else in the world: violence is always calling for more violence. This is the life of Jack Curtu. And his music takes you there. Three slices, each unique in style, yet united by human rage, misery and desperation. Senza via d’uscita – there’s no way out!

Marcello Napoletano pres. Ra Thout / The Brigante’s Orchestra – Born Free In The Land Of Nobody [MATH058]

NAPOLETANO, Marcello presents RA THOUT/THE BRIGANTE'S ORCHESTRA - Born Free In The Land Of Nobody EP (Front Cover)

Hot stuff Macello Napoletano dons his new guise as Ra Thout & The Brigante’s Orchestra but keeps loyal to his firm and releases on Mathematics. Anyway, Ra Thout is a totally different animal, frantic and aggressive, littered with raw electronics and tape saturation. “Catastophic Event” is an apt title for a rabid track that drags a multitude of squeals and sine tone abuse through rough drum box percussion and a fast, unrelenting tempo. “Man From Messapia” rides on a similar tempo but gets a bit funky, with filtered hooks and flanging pads. Deep, tech-funk with what sounds to me like a crazy vocoder line going absolutely off-it through the track. “The Man Who Can Do Anything” is a low-slung chugger with quite organic percussion and a subby bass. Breaking delicately through the mix is a wonderful lead flute line which contrasts well against the sludgy groove. “Terra Tra Due Mari” is totally nuts, mangling a free-jazz workout against jagged guitars and ridiculous amounts of bass. Hard to pin down, and quite unlike anything else but imagine some of Madlib’s Yesterdays New Quintet work being tweaked by Jamal Moss then mixed and mastered into some aggressive psychedelic B-side and you’re halfway there.
