Alleviated Records present the new Mr. Fingers EP. After many years of the moniker being dormant and a long journey trying to get back into a creative mindset, we have a new offering. First up, “Outer Acid” delivers up a Minimal-Space-Acid flavor. Next, “Qwazars” continues the Space motif with a Minimal-Tech touch. “Nodyahed” moves toward a Dark Club Bounce with a dash of Tribal flavor. “Aether” offers up a more late-night Ambient-Space-House flavor.
Altered Moods Recordings makes its first artist foray into Asia, more specifically, it sets its sights on Nagano, Japan, where it finds a fertile and quickly expanding underground scene and one of its key players, Yoshiki Tsuchiya, also known as Miruga.
Amid whispers of a new album from Unirhythm boss and Three Chairs stalwart Marcellus Pittman, two tracks from his excellent debut LP Pieces finally get committed to wax. It’s a shame Pieces never got a vinyl release, but the chance to grip “Sneak Attack” and “Random Acts Of Insanity” on 12″ should not be passed up. This 12″ was actually released in ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ white label format in 2014, but finally gets a proper issue! For those that don’t have the LP, “Sneak Attack” is a curious concoction, with Syclops style electronics occasionally flowering over deep, dusty, intricately programmed rhythms. “Random Acts Of Insanity” feels a little bolder in approach, though its’ rich chords and odd, off-kilter rhythm track are contrasted with some notably bonkers electronic touches.
‘Inmensamente’ (Immensely) is the first vinyl release by Lanoche and the first reference on So Unreal, a new vinyl-only label based in Madrid. This three-track EP opens with two deep house tracks (‘Te quiero’ and ‘Extasis’) on the A Side and closes with the fourteen-minute-long ‘Inmensamente’ on its B Side, an atmospheric lo-fi house composition which the EP takes its name from.

Love Notes from Brooklyn is proud to present a brand new and promising young American artist in the form of tape_hiss. These three moody and emotive tracks fit in perfectly with the label sound Love Notes has been developing over their last few release. The Panic in Needle Park, the clear standout track, begins the EP with gloomy synth washes at a chugging, pitched down speed. That track is then ably reworked by fellow Brooklynite, Willie Burns, of LIES and WT Records, who breaks the beat up for a stunted and unique reinterpretation. On the flip, Love is a Dog From Hell brings a little acid to the proceedings, and Traces to Nowhere closes it out on consitantly dark and moody note.

The G man found himself a protege. After the odd 50+ solo releases offered through his Phoenix G imprint Mr.G has found himself a young producer that has a style that connects with the Phoenix G output thus far. Mysterious Jayson Wynters offers a 4 track record that is hazy, technoid and threads into deep territories every now and then. ‘Unfamiliar Territories EP’ opens with the deep down perc jam named ‘Momentum’ a moody dubbish track that sets the tone for things to come. The title track offers a more emotive ride that’s being supported by tough saw basses and windy pads that float throughout. The B side openen Science is a tough house cut that is reminiscent of the glory days of US deephouse and sounds as a solid classic rather than a new cut. The closing down bit ‘1 more’ is the same story. Firmly produced drum patterns with classic bass sounds and hazy pads.

Comet announce the third volume of the Afrobeat Makers Series: Nu Guinea – The Tony Allen Experiments. By re-working the original magic drum patterns from the Afrobeat master Tony Allen, Nu Guinea created a compilation of tracks which is charged by a voluminous electronic jazz-Psyche funk imprint. For this release, Comet Records teamed up with Early Sounds Recordings, the berlin label, also home to duo Berliners Nu Guinea. The Naples formed, Berlin-based duo, is a project that arose out of jam sessions, melting synthesizers with instruments, containing a handmade sound that is not aiming for perfection but genuineness. It can be understood as a steadily shaping form, always open for collaborations with other musicians.
Berlin-based Palms Trax continues adding to his run of quality efforts with the forthcoming release of his High Point On Low Ground EP: impressive effort number two for the Dekmantel imprint. Serving up three retro-futuristic killers, Donaldson parades his ability to touch on the many different corners of contemporary house music, whilst delivering heavyweight dancefloor standards. The title track blazes a beaten-up vocal snippet over stanked-out synths, stretched to a breaking point across a low-riding bass line. A stabbing Moroder-esque bass line dominates ‘Cloud City’, whilst ‘Paws’ equals pure and raw broken-beat bliss with a pinch of acid.
Rex Club present their second 12″, turning to one of the most respected names in deep house, Mr Fred P. Last year was perhaps the most productive so far for Fred P, and this creative drive continues apace on this Expressing Dark Matter EP. Holding it down on the A-side is “Wave Patterns” where a restrained groove plays second fiddle to some delightful pads and oh so deep chord work. The B-side pairs up the loose percussive “Continuous Sensations” with standout cut “Unbroken Circle”. Vintage Peterkin through and through.
Despite only a few releases, the Electronic deep house sound of Vibraphone Records and the production team behind it had a major impact on the international 1990’s dance scene. Produced by The True Underground Sound of Rome team all the tracks included in this re-released are characterized by a heavenly atmosphere and a cinematic sound. This 12″ Vinyl EP contains the analog re-mastered & new recording version of the original 4 tracks first released in 1992 .
Sound Signature’s latest missive comes from Byron The Aquarius, a former Onra collaborator best known for his dusty trips into MPC beat-making territory. Here, the Atlanta-based producer successfully turns his hand to dusty, soul-flecked deep house, peppering the bumpin’ groove of “Aquarian Voyage” with a toasty bassline and twinkling Rhodes motifs. It’s the kind of hazy, jazz-flecked deep house that Sound Signature has always done better than almost anyone else. Flipside “Run Sa”, featuring the fluid and intoxicating playing of drummer Dmitri Walker, is even better, with warm chords draping themselves over snappy snares, hissing cymbals and killer fills.

Lerosa makes his debut release on Slow Motion with ‘Il Nostro Tempo’. Lerosa has crafted four tracks of wistful, propulsive dance music. The trance inducing chug of ‘Il Nostro Tempo’ and the bittersweet synths of ‘La Monarca’ take up side-a, a pair of contemporary club cuts oozing with emotional melodies and stripped back rhythms. On side-b the the skittish rhythms and wobbly arpeggiator of ‘Ninfa’ take you through to the early hours. ‘Pompeo’, perhaps the most emotional of four nostalgically sad club jams works just as effectively tugging your heartstrings on the headphones early in the morning as it does in a smoky club late at night.
