Harvey Sutherland – Edges EP [EVR015]
Melbourne synthesist Harvey Sutherland brings four stripped-back rhythm tracks to Echovolt Records for his debut 12″. Features a long edit of ‘Q3’ from last years limited cassette release, plus three new original cuts. Developed and refined from Sutherlands improvised live show, the ‘Edges E.P.’ glides between the sparse melodic funk on Sunday Flower to the tightly-wound house shuffle of Speaking Your Language. The title track rounds out the B-side – a long rollicking hardware jam, all Juno brass and marching band snares.

Julius Steinhoff – Flocking Behaviour [SMALLVILLELP009]
Half of the dynamic duo Smallpeople, founder and one of the steersmen behind Hamburgs Smallville empire as well as a producer and DJ in his own right, Steinhoff’s debut album comes on his own label. A romantic concept of house music that is at times utopian, the album gathers eight tracks that evoke late nights, hazy mornings and walks on thin air.

Fred P / Kai Alce – Finale Sessions Select Vol.1 [FSS001]
Finale Sessions presents a new series of releases from the vault on 10″ format. This first release pairs two bonafide legends in the shape of Fred P and Kai Alce, both known for their incredibly accomplished takes on house. Fred P’s “Ram” is a deep excursion into pulsing chords and delicate atmosphere, while Kai Alce’s “Scene 1” is a raw, acidic affair for peak time sets – both are essential cuts.
VA – Combo EP [OJO009]
Rick Wade, K.Alexi, Fantasna and Jorge C signing in for this 9th release for the South American Ojodeapolo label. A fine Various Artists compilation titled Combo EP. A-side begins with Jorge C. “Baile” a set of playful chords , seductive machine drums plus percussions,voices & whispers and surrounding baselines. Followed by “Sun On My Face” by the legendary Chicago star K Alexi Shelby consisting on a mysterious, hypnotic and sensual refreshing summer hit. B-side continues with the one and only Rick Wade, who delivers a tremendous track called “Darling Your Love” transporting us to his own sound-signature developed before by his own imprint Harmony Park label. Last track is “Faraon”, a real deep-acid-anthem that comes by the hand of the young promise Sebastian Mella aka. Fantasna, one of the best kept secrets from Santiago de Chile.

Erdbeerschnitzel – The Ample Waters [DSR-H8]
Hot on the heels of his last outing for the Delsin house series comes this, another essential new offering from German producer Erdbeerschnitzel. The title track ‘The Ample Waters’ is a joyous and lively concoction that fuses curious melodies with busy little piano stabs and more trilling, sunny melodies. It’s busy house for bustling dancefloors and next up, ‘Never Tilt’ slows things down with jumbled, woody percussion falling over lazy drums and stretched, yawning synth smears. Colourful and effervescent, it’s a track that makes you want to shake your limbs. ‘With Level Hopes’ is again characterised by melodic colour, with pixelated patterns stretched over a funky, gooey bassline and clacking percussion. There’s a beautifully DIY feel to the loosely assembled track that gives it a life all of its own before closer ‘Yet Unfulfilled’ pairs slo-mo beats with neo-soul vocal snippets, lazy and stoned summer chords. It’s the most emotive of the lot, but all four tracks are truly feel good jams that have come just in time for some serious summer action.

From the executive producer Chez Damier come a Special Edition release marking the 20th Anniversary of Balance and Prescription records. Side A. The Mission: Lavida (life) is a project and group from Switzerland that was produce by Chez Damier and Italian producer Demetrio Giannice, The track is Deep with Choped vocals of Chez and Chaka Khan, very chord driven with a Jazzy feel as the break of the track. A2. Is a young group of French producers from Paris called Siler & Dima , Thomas Zander with track called: Inappropriate, a deep driven track with spoken words , more minimal and was inspired by some of Ron and Chez early works, this is for sure new school and very club friendly. Side B is a remastered version of the rare Prescription Underground mix of Ron Trent and Chez damier’s classic ””the Choice”” this is one of the dance classics that helped shaped a new underground sound for the club, with ripping synth, raw snares and high strings, this 20 year old track hold up as well as a track made today.
Chez Damier – Say The Word 01 [SWM001]
Side A offers a brand new track ”Tudor Por Amor” highlight the perfectness of Damier’s roots in house and techno, whilst also doffing a proverbial cap to New York house thanks to it’s percussive vibe. Complementing this is an unreleased version of the Chez classic ”Forever Mona” that subtly recalibrates the late 90s cut for both house and techno ears. On the flip we get a taste of Heart 2 Heart, a new collaboration between Damier and young French producer Ben Vedren, with ”Shigan” featuring in both Rex Dub and Detroit 3000 dub form.

Leigh Dickson – Knoe 3/2 [KNOE3/2]
Leigh’s second part in his chapter on For Those That Knoe starts with the blissful house moods of Cresnet. A punchy kick and modulated bassline provide a weighty bottom end, complementing lush pads, sweeping FX, percussive stabs and ethereal strings. Ion is a track that is hard to pigeonhole, Leigh casts all preconceptions aside by creating a grooving piece of dance music that sounds as forward thinking today as I would have when it was written. At One on the flip is a little burst of funk with snappy beats and crisp percussion a fuzzy bassline. Closing out the EP is a previously unheard and unreleased extended version of the timeless electro classic, Praise. Keeping all the elements of the original, this uncovered version has a new beat intro and longer arrangement.
