Over 25 years ago DJ Maaco and P Dog aka Detroit In Effect released the mean green “Only Time Can Stop A Dream” EP on their M.A.P. label. Tracks like “313 Frequency” and “Sike Yo Mind”, just to name a couple, banged dance floors from Detroit to Europe. Now with new generations of music lovers almost three decades later catching on to sounds some would now consider vintage, we feel it’s only right to pull out some throwbacks and make them available again. Sonic Transmutations is an extended compilation album celebrating over three decades of Clone Records. Marking the 31 years – which is coincidentally the national Dutch telephone code – the 8×12 inch box set draws together veteran talent and emerging iconoclasts, transmitting a frequency rooted the imprint’s signature blend of essential dance music while journeying off into territories unknown. In a constant state of unfolding, morphing across phases of matter, Sonic Transmutations purveys an elemental energy that stands in testament to Clone’s enduring legacy and explorations of sounds and structures.

Second time around for D.I.E’s The Man You’ll Never See Part 2, a near legendary set of bustling, funk-fuelled electro cuts that first surfaced on Clone back in 2003. This new edition includes five of the EP’s six original tracks, replacing “Space Travel” with the similarly sought-after “Programming” – a Drexciya-esque workout rich in fizzing drum machine beats, rumbling sub-bass and deep space acid lines – which originally appeared on 2002’s Keep Hanging EP. It remains a superb set of tracks, all told, with the Motor City duo flitting between deep and melodious cuts (“Other People”), vocal-laced Cybotron tributes (“Keep Hanging”), decidedly intergalactic fare (“Out With Tha Old”) and quirky, glassy-eyed gems (“U Can’t See Us”).
D.J. Maaco is back at it again by keeping D.I.E. on the MAP! With long over due favorites such as Dutch Friends and Move Yo Body, this will be a 12 inch you don’t want to miss. Hardfloor ‘4th Dimension of the 5th Ward’, featuring two E.R.P works and a Dynamik Bass System remix, to deliver some of the hottest electro techno tracks around. E.R.P. delivers some of his best works with stellar strings and beautiful melodies that make you float away. The third and final tracks goes into the Metroplex, Detroit Techno area with that typical bassline and vocals by Detroit in Effect finnished off by some of that Hardfloor 303.
