Umwelt is back on Midnight Shift, with another scorching 5-track EP designed to be listened in continuity. Ascending chorals, acidic swirls and horrific echoes rise above a mash of abrasive, caustic electro/breakbeat chaos with shapeshifting moods. Ambient track ‘Gate of Nothingness’ echoes and feeds back into ‘Fear On The Dark Planet’ with its arpeggiated refrain.

Celebrating one year of music From The Void Above third release consists of five cuts by the Spanish maestro Do Or Die. On the A-Side the record opens with Autoflanger, a driving techno track with trancey elements which gives no rest. A2, 25 Seconds, presents a biting electro cut where the vocals and synths take us on a apocaliptic journey. Heaven in Hell closes the A-Side with a tranquil but tense acid track where the interaction of the bassline, drums, leads and pads create an ascent into the enlightenment brought by the glimpse of this new universe. The B-Side opens up with Out Run 2020, a warped break-beat phantasmagoria where detuned synths constantly fight aganst the driving bassline. Finally, B2 gives us Overdose, a gloomy electro cut with sounds brought up from the darkest places of this new universe.

The B1 offers more groove ridden electro, this time featuring an unforgettable melody alongside lucious pads. The B2 features a rough and ready electro cut, with a mean acid line penetrating throughout.

Plant43’s fifth release ‘Interlinked’ is a reaction to the UK’s decision to leave the EU and how this affects the electronic music culture, which thrives on being interlinked. The B side starts with the driving urgency of ‘Ancient Voice’, future electro designed to move dance floors when they return. Closing track ‘The Silent Flock’ is a slower, more contemplative expression of discovery and hope.

Transparent Sound returns in 2021 with another well overdue reissue. Originally released on Solid Groove in 1999, Night & Day is an EP that showcases the versatility Transparent Sound offers as an artist. All while retaining the groove focused backbone which makes him a legend in the electro scene.

This is the first instalment of the newborn white label series on Subject To Restrictions Discs. Zurich based DJ and producer Don Kashew delivers a dark dystopian journey that begins with the search for the last open ‘Supermarché’. It continues with the well-known lethargy of the past months translated in the track ‘Koto Nord’. At long last, we are successful and dance together to ‘Bamboo’ in united melancholy.

The year is 2021. Music is outlawed and creativity crushed. Amidst the rubble of a Derelict Dundee, the resistance has assembled. Exiled Records is born. An all out audible assault against the forces that be. A voice for the unheard. For those cast out by society. For those who stand on the other side of normal. A story of anguish, resentment and undying fight. The first wave of attack comes from LBEEZE. True to nature, bold and twisted vocals accompany his own brand of psycho electronics. You will listen when he’s talking. Kluentah provides the ammunition with an electro-fueled remix.

Izorgor’s sound reflects his burly bouncer name. Drums pound and hi-hats slash in the mean and murderous “HDF-N”, a soundtrack for car crashes and late late club sessions. “Nosferatu” comes from a similarly evil place, percussion is fed through a mincer before a fog of distortion descends to smother samples. If you’re after a respite, you’ll have to wait or feck off home. “HDF-S” wades in. Similar to his sibling in terms of rancorous rhythms, this beast drips with 303 sweat and venom with just a touch of salvation in those soaring notes. Boris Brenicki, of Ontal fame, ends with his own sepulchral take on “Nosferatu.”
