Feel My Bicep steps it onto its next release with the debut of two established acts, linking up for the first time. DeFeKT and Extrawelt combine their formidable talent and years in the game to bring us a two-tracker entitled Field Day.
Next up on Bicep’s Feel My Bicep imprint is a fresh single from fellow Irishman Cromby, featuring two remixes from Electro stalwart DeFeKT and the ever-dependable Shanti Celeste. Cromby slots neatly into the FMB catalogue with Retribution – a single that draws from his experience spent on the floor and behind the booth at clubs in Berlin, with it’s stirring chords and frazzled drums. DeFeKT’s offers up a buoyant, 808-heavy take on the original while Shanti’s ‘Chill’ mix omits the kicks in favour of her signature sunny synth tones.
Number 10 in the Fell My Bicep catalogue comes as a single titled ‘Hail Falls’ from Tim Sweeney and Phillip Lauer operating under T&P. Having introduced their collaboration through a self released record on Sweeney’s own Beats In Space back in 2016 – T&P continue to develop this fruitful relationship and roll out more Disco-tinged Acid.
“Recorded the mix pretty much in one evening at my studio! Mix between vinyl and Ableton. Wanted to do something natural and with an acidic pulse so it took me a while to go back through my records. Really difficult to remember all these tracks so it took a while.”
This mix is a portion of a live DJ set Trevor Jackson did at the New Dance Fantasy Festival at Griessmühle in Berlin earlier this year in July.
Bicep are back with the second release on their eponymous Feel My Bicep label. FMB002 features three tracks pushing into a synth driven direction in comparison to earlier releases. “Satisfy” features melodic pads, leads and a breakbeat heavily indebted to 80s freestyle and Baltimore club. “Snackbar” takes a much tougher line, with a subtly growling and grinding bass underpinning its menacing chords reflecting their recent more techno heavy sets. “The Final Trip” is deep into late night Belfast territory, keeping it true to the classic pairing of jackin’ 909 and juno 60 live through the whole track.
It’s a rare thing for two labels to come together to release a track, but KMS Records and Feel My Bicep have done exactly that. “Vision Of Love” was produced by two London based, Belfast-born blogger-production-DJ duo, Matt McBriar and Andy Ferguson. No remixes have been commissioned on “Vision Of Love”, but KMS is very lucky and very happy to announce that none other than Carl Craig himself, has graciously submitted a ‘c2 Edit’ and a ‘c2 Bonus Edit’, to make this a very special release indeed.
