D’Marc Cantu live @ Moog (Barcelona) 18.01.2012

Mutant Beat Dance is a collaboration between research scientist and vintage synthesizer enthusiast Beau Wanzer and pioneer of the jakbeat sound Traxx. ”Another World” takes you on a bass heavy psychedelic journey. Think old school psychedelic jakbeat with a bit of a Fingers vibe but more banging. On the flip is ”New News is Old News”, a deep and hypnotic analog track, sort of a more updated take on an 80’s industrial / italo sound.

Traxx aka Melvin Oliphant III returs to MOS Deep with a stunning solo-project. Under his The Poetic Painter M pseudonym he serves up ‘Marie’s Transcendance’ backed-up by two reworks from compadre Sean Hernandez aka Chicago Skyway and label owner Aroy Dee. ‘Marie’s Transcendance’ is a frenetic yet hypnotizing house track that echoes memories of downpitched Newbeat material and the hooky coldness of new wave. Melvin, though, re-defines rather than regurgitates these influences and re-launches them into a dark and moody acid-flecked future. Chicago Skyway reworks it into a deep, emotional just as acid-version which seems to float into eternity as solid 808-beat programming plays out busily behind. Aroy Dee edits a second rework of “Marie’s”, creating a simple but highly effective and bouncing track that’s carried along by a psychedelic, out-of-this-world bass line.

After several releases on Creme and M>O>S, Nation as well as collaborations as 2AMFM, Saturn V, X2 etc, here is D’Marc Cantu’s debut Album on Creme JAK.

Nation returns to the forefront, compiling a serious arsenal of exclusives. Their motto: RWTHO = Rollin’ With True Heads Only. Traxx unleashes an array different styles that make up the elements of the Jakbeat sound, from a line-up that’s Not for the faint of heart! This is the 2nd in the The Modern Electronic Element series.

X2 Members: Traxx, D’Marc Cantu & JTC drop a three track V.A. EP on the burgeoning Lux Rec imprint. Each artist delivers, with some pretty signature styles on display. A great EP showcasing these maverick sickos.

The 2nd album to be unveiled from Nation is called “Creep Acid” from JTC. He was driven by thoughts about the lifespan of many things. Creep Acid carries the resonance of future past.

New release on Nation, the “Rhythm Relics” EP is an approach towards the beginnings of an evolving acid-driven Dance scene in the UK two decades ago. Stemming ideas from that era, Saturn V and X2 came up with a testament of evolutionary ideas and musical shape-shifting to bring our influences to the audiences of today.

† Jak your body till you bleed!!!

For the first smaller jubilee of the Nation Podcast we were not sure what we should do to quench the thirst of those who are in constant need of Jakbeat.
But then Traxx was getting booked to play alongside Gene Hunt and Sadar Bahar in Amsterdam for a celebration of the early blueprints of Chicago House, and to take the people attending the show on a journey through time and space, deep into the vaults of what is considered to be the greatest musical revolution of all time.
Our own excitement for this historical event, made us go down into the basement-archives to unearth a session that was thought to be forgotten. Ripped directly straight from tape, with all artefacts and soundlevel-changes intact… Lifeless Future will draw a disturbing image of the future, when Mankind is not anymore, and all there is left in the world is sound.
We hope you will enjoy this session, and give it a repeated listen…

Sometimes moments of a catastrophic emotion in himself determines how the writer is bringing his words to the paper. Enjoy another mysterious session by the caretaker of haunted sound. It sure is sending shivers down your spine. Spooky!

Nation is On The Move! The tracks for this release are unique and striking that their specialness is undeniable. D’Marc Cantu and The Maniacs are particularly compelling.

For the 3rd edition of the podcast we have an all vinyl set recorded for Traxx’s Birthday Celebration @ Smartbar Chicago, encompassing the Medusa’s era of EBM, Techno and Jak Tracks. Werner’s introduction to Nation also includes works for his label Antennae doing collaborations with Traxx, Stephen Hitchell and Sneak. He’s also released on legendary labels Relief, Strictly Rhythm and Force Inc.
