OMBRA Festival 2023

The annual unusual sounds gathering in Barcelona is here again. The 2023 edition of the OMBRA Festival is a special one, celebrating the 5th anniversary. The festival is returning it’s former industrial aesthetics, after one year of transition from the former space Utopia 126, the industrial area in El Poublenou.
This year the festival will happen in a new and captivating venue that perfectly embodies OMBRA’s essence of industrial aesthetics, the former Mercedes-Benz factory, ENMASA.

VA – Tanzers Eins [MTDGTL005]

Its been 8 years of underground raves in Berlin under the Malka Tuti umbrella. In order to celebrate it they unleash a series of digital releases titled Tanzers. The idea is to release one of these small compilations every few months, in order to share some secret weapons from those parties. This compilation presents fresh tracks by label alumni Plazmot, Yovav & Khidja, an unreleased remix by Odopt & Lipelis to a track from Linja’s debut album on the label from 2020 and the first entry on the label from UK artist Forever Sound.

APHONIA/ANGELS OF POMPEII/ODOPT/LINJA - AVI 002

The second Avidya release starts with Aphonia, L.A. based producer and sound designer Matia Simovich’s new solo (ad)venture. ‘Burning Fields’ jacking schematics were conceived of and from the severity of the California wildfires. Industrial, metallic, lo-fi Angels Of Pompeii are a by-product of Montreal’s Italian diaspora, an assemblage of Matt D’Alessio (Temple Records) and Anthony Gallati (Solitary Dancer), who pay homage to the motherland’s electronic pioneers like Kirlian Camera and Victrola. Moscow’s sons, Odopt (Discos Capablanca / Hivern Discs) explore cavernous, virulent techno and soporific atmospherics and tonality in Athma. Finally, St Petersburg’s Linja offers ‘Retreat’, a brooding aura of slo-mo-proto trance to wrap within the first essence of Avidya’s crown.

ANATOLIAN WEAPONS/LINJA - Split EP

The second release by Serenades features a magical adventure created by two talented artists from Russia and Greece. Believe it or not, with LINJA’s beckoning modular foghorn, you will find yourself in a desert heading towards the ancient lighthouse castle, while Anatolian Weapons is helping you walk through the vast sand dunes with his electrical mantras and spells.
