Umwelt is back on Midnight Shift, with another scorching 5-track EP designed to be listened in continuity. Ascending chorals, acidic swirls and horrific echoes rise above a mash of abrasive, caustic electro/breakbeat chaos with shapeshifting moods. Ambient track ‘Gate of Nothingness’ echoes and feeds back into ‘Fear On The Dark Planet’ with its arpeggiated refrain.
Second release for this Brussels based organization (Label and parties) run by False Identity. This one focuses on dark and powerful electro, clanging industrial techno and techno body music straight for the dancefloor.
Umwelt returns to his own New Flesh Records imprint with his unique EP to date this year. ”Escape The Future” sees the French producer concluding his Future trilogy started in 2015 with ”When Future And Past Collapse” and pursued in 2017 with ”Encoding The Future” on Netherlands based Shipwrec. Fuelled by industrial and post-apocalyptic atmospheres, Umwelt’s brand new 12” gathers together all of the elements that made his dark sound so recognizable, a digest of complex yet dancefloor rhythms fused into insane synth oscillations and Rave influences. Melodic ”Escape The Future” is a much anticipating five tracker blending Umwelt’s unique aesthetic and style, obsessed by a pessimistic vision of the future.
Switching within digital binaries, analogue flux, and all forms of degradation in between, a creature is kickstarted to life, as if awoken with locomotion’s full might. Helena Hauff delivers a mix for Tresor’s Kern series, lashing together a sound world with a potent barrage of industrial dance music. Helena Hauff and Morah, Umwelt, Machino, Galaxian and L.F.T. all contribute with five previously unreleased tracks, exclusive to the compilation. Rare titles are also featured, such as the late Curley Schoop’s “Mayhem” under the name Esoterik, “City Of Boom” by DJ Godfather & DJ Starski, Nasenbluten’s “Intellectual Killer“ and “After Dark” produced collaboratively by Andrea Parker and David Morley.
‘Todo Avaricia’ by Reka and the duo Imperial Black Unit is the result of an immediate and natural connection forged between the three artists, through a jam session that swiftly and intuitively yielded three tracks of stylistically diverse yet demonstrably cohesive sounds. Featuring the sampled voices of Che Cuevara, Pablo Neruda and original vocals by Reka herself, the EP plays the role of an urgent call to action against political and environmental injustice, conveyed via the musical substrate of new beat, industrial and EBM, fused into a landscape of techno and undeniably constructed for the dancefloor. The EP is rounded off with a heavy-hitting remix of the title track by the prolific Umwelt, in his signature dramatic style.

Also a collaboration of the Mosaique label owner Moralez and the legendary American EBM/ Hard Core artist The Horrorist. They were joined by a hypnotic composition from the Mannequin label owner Alessandro Adriani and accidentally surviving track (after the death of the artist’s music storage) from Greek artist Morah, who’s was released on Helena Hauf’s label Return To Disorder.
Umwelt is the latest to join the Voitax catalogue with his EP ‘Ecopoiesis’. The French producer had a strong 2018 and follows suit this year offering up five slices of electro-imbued fire-power.

The Orbitants run into galaxy exploring the unknown. Space ambient track from the electro soldier The Exaltics, explores the parallel worlds with his iconic sound. The electro duo Faceless Mind, straight outta North Europe kicked it with ‘Viggen Formations’: heavy bassline, highly evocative and hypnotic synth. Follow up the B1. Keep on going with the well-crafted formula DJ Vietnam and Haterparisi. Generated arpeggios by modular square-waves with syncopated beats reminding their techno background tells the experience of an alien abduction. Discover the raw surfaces of the B side which feels both organic and apocalyptic. ‘Intergalacid’ by Umwelt, a mix of acid-rave and electro to create some high impact sonic weaponry.
Repitch Recordings presents another small collection of club-ready electronic creations. This time around, the label welcomes french veteran and New Flesh / Rave Or Die founder Umwelt, sharing the platter with Canada-born Berlin-based young master Ryan James Ford. Led by their mutual love for saturated analog percussions, massive kick drums, and relentless beats, the two producers find common ground while retaining their respective distinctive approaches. Umwelt’s much more electro-oriented excursions style relentlessly acidic basslines alongside epic synth pads and distorted polyrhythms, while Ford’s side connects flows more down the stream of contemporary techno, deep and drone-laden as it is.
Following the critically acclaimed debut album from Tensal, Soma presents a specially commissioned remix EP to compliment the album. A varied collection of artists are prominent on the release with new and established alike, each delivering their own take on Tensal’s originals. UK producer Pessimist opens the EP. His unique aesthetic of Jungle/Drum&Bass – come – Techno certainly makes its presence felt on the A-Side as he delivers a monster of a remix, soaked in dark, brooding textures and broken rhythms. Another UK techno export makes his debut on Soma as Shifted lends his remix skills to the package. Pulsating and propulsive, Shifted exudes pure energy with his version of Santolaya. Prolific French producer Umwelt closes out the EP with his interpretation of Belga. An old skool, electro affair Umwelt still retains a melancholic edge to the production.
To celebrate New Flesh Records 20th release to date, French veteran DJ Umwelt returns to his own label with a new LP. Built like the soundtrack of a dystopian movie where main characters evolve in a hopeless future, Sci-Fi ‘Abandon In Place’ delivers no less than height cinematic masterpieces half-way between electro and ambient registers. From the menacing sirens of opener ‘Void Of Nothingness’ to the melancholic synths of closing ‘Galactic Wreck’, passing through the Blade Runnerish vision of ‘Celestial Matter’, this soulful album depicts nothing but the extinction of mankind in a ending world. Besides its terrific message, ‘Abandon In Place’ showcases the unlimited talent and incredible versatility of Umwelt, a mighty producer able to split from the most cutting edge music on New Flesh Records to a more radical, straight to the dancefloor approach on Rave Or Die. A gloomy journey through apocalyptic tones, slow yet deep basslines, industrial touches, cold and un- compromising emotions. Umwelt’s most forward thinking opus to date sum up in once sentence: “By the end of the day, all is dust”.
Umwelt returns to Shipwrec for his third 12″ on the dutch label in as many years. Encoding the Future sees the French pioneer deliver five tracks of on point electronics. Umwelt is known for his trademark sound of piercing percussion, serrating synthlines and industrial strength bass. These elements are all present on this latest EP but have been carved back to allow strings to soar and pads to resonate. New plains are explored. Frigid elegance is juxtaposed by coarse chords, deep basslines countered by lilting lines. Encoding the Future opens a new chapter for the Lyons based producer as he dives into new textures and tones whilst remaining tethered to his cold electro roots.
French electronic music stalwart ”Umwelt” has produced some modern day classics throughout his career. The Lyon based musician joins P.E.A.R.L.’s Falling Ethics imprint and comes up with the thirteenth installment in the series. ”Strange Attractor EP” is a well balanced EP that showcases several sides of Umwelt’s signature style that sits somewhere on the edges of Techno, Electro, Adventurous Electronics and anything in between.

The eleventh Modal Analysis release introduces Umwelt, with his debut appearance on the label. Industrial meets electro here, and the Lyon based producer joins the sound of Athens. Density #1 fully reflects Umwelts skills on enigmatic riffs and fat bass-lines. Density #2 and Density #3 sneak into the more dance-floor minded record bags, while Density#4 feeds a melodic/melancholic feeling whilst hard hitting beats bring it home.
