Bicep – Circles EP [AUS1462]

Jet-setting Irish duo Bicep return to Will Saul’s Aus label with two steady analog techno grooves ready for deployment in either their own wildly celebrated sets or those of any DJ looking for modern dance tracks that are still faithful to the classics. Using gritty, vintage-sounding rhythm sections as solid foundations, each track gradually builds up its own lush, melodic embellishments overtop – ‘Circles’ stays true to its name with a cyclical main melody, shadowy bass and fuzzy house pads, whereas ‘NRG106 sets spacey, dramatic chords and breathy vocals against the insistent, chittering machine percussion. As usual these two esteemed bloggers / DJs / artists / all around polymaths prove themselves to be paragons of taste, but here it’s clear that they are also steadily growing as producers, taking on different styles with aplomb and making it all look much easier than it really is.

Bicep – Satisfy EP [FMB002]

Bicep are back with the second release on their eponymous Feel My Bicep label. FMB002 features three tracks pushing into a synth driven direction in comparison to earlier releases. “Satisfy” features melodic pads, leads and a breakbeat heavily indebted to 80s freestyle and Baltimore club. “Snackbar” takes a much tougher line, with a subtly growling and grinding bass underpinning its menacing chords reflecting their recent more techno heavy sets. “The Final Trip” is deep into late night Belfast territory, keeping it true to the classic pairing of jackin’ 909 and juno 60 live through the whole track.

Bicep – Vision Of Love (Carl Craig Edits) [KMS120]

It’s a rare thing for two labels to come together to release a track, but KMS Records and Feel My Bicep have done exactly that. “Vision Of Love” was produced by two London based, Belfast-born blogger-production-DJ duo, Matt McBriar and Andy Ferguson. No remixes have been commissioned on “Vision Of Love”, but KMS is very lucky and very happy to announce that none other than Carl Craig himself, has graciously submitted a ‘c2 Edit’ and a ‘c2 Bonus Edit’, to make this a very special release indeed.

Bicep – Vision Of Love [FMB001]

After five years of running the highly popular and eclectic music blog “Feel My Bicep”, Bicep started they own label. With the aim of releasing fun and varied music, the only condition the boys gave themselves was to maintain full creative control to take the the label in whichever direction they desired. Their first release follows on a similar vein to previous chart-topping single stripper, deeply inspired by their love of the early US house scene but with a modern twist.
