Finally out of little Britain, ahum, sorry, out of little Paxton, Mr. Rogers is currently thriving on his newly acquired medication of high-quality codeine, all thanks to the benign blessings of the pharmaceutical industry: His house is definitely jackin’ it deeper and browner than ever before, almost sounding like a Ron Hardy shooting up at the end of a hard day’s night back in the days of the warehouse.

Perseus Traxx – Tales From The Night Sky Part 1 [MOS018]

PERSEUS TRAXX - Tales From The Night Sky Part 1

After his excellent and well-received Coded Emotion EP on the MOS label in late 2011, analogue fetishist Perseus Traxx returns for another MOS outing. It finds the producer in similarly classic mode, exploring the deep down depths of house and techno in his own fuzzy and hugely atmospheric way. ‘Gorgon’ has widescreen synths, tightly coiled synth lines and jagged beats all tussling with each other, whilst ‘Poseidon’s Monster’ is about chattering claps hanging above a synth line that twists and turns, implodes and explodes at whim. It’s focused and forceful at the same time as sounding some how human. On the flip, ‘Return To Seriphos’ is another dense soundscape, but one that invites you into its core thanks to the freeform analogue lines, contrast of rough with smooth and generally classy Chicago vibes. ‘Stranger Shores’ is less troubled and more reflective with bright melodic chords glowing from the centre of the track as warbling, swollen sub undulates all around them.

Perseus Traxx – A Girl Named Rebecca [CHIWAX007]

With releases under a range of pseudonyms (Orpheus, Sir Leon Greg, Nite Vision), once again Perseus Traxx unashamedly shows his nature on this release. Thoughts, feelings and emotions are by far the most important influences on music, and capturing moments then translating into a musical form he once again documents the more personal elements of his life, taking you deep. Perseus weaves a rich tapestry of emotions and desires using heavily weighted bass tones and skipping percussion that thread together with expansive strings and pads. These are married with more detailed melodies and modulated tones that shimmer in and out of the psyche as he uses analogue boxes and their warmth like a loom. This collection of music ranges from the deep and dreamy, to total transcendence within steady dance floor rhythms clothed in a warm yet spacious fabric of sound. Deep House, sometimes with a real sense of urgency that juxtaposes with itʼs inherent flights of fancy.

Perseus Traxx – Raw Cuts [SUIT003]

Stay Underground, It Pays with the 3rd release from Perseus Traxx. The analog man is back with some killer tracks, deep & jacking chicago sounds with haunting pads, big basselines & some classic TR 707 – 909 drum machines. The title track ‘Hindsight’ is a raw bumpy cut with a sneaky bassline going all along with rolling claps & rims. Influenced by all the best 80’s trax records releases, it’s a late night masterpiece of minimalistic electronic sounds. The 4 other tracks ‘Late night calls’, ‘A slave to feelings’, ‘How the future lies’ & the crazy ‘wrangle’ are clearly working in the same movement.

Nite Vision – Distant Planes EP [CHIWAX005]

Nite Vision’s second outing arrives via the meteorically rising Chiwax label. Craig Stainton and NigelRogers have once again combined their knowledge and love for warm synth tones. Distant Planes is an intoxicatingly psychedelic adventure into House music, interconnecting a range of new and old machines to generate a distinctively timeless fog of sound that transports the mind to other realms while forcing the body to move in its most primal and expressive way. All extracted live from the machines, the whole thing simply throbs a simplicity that while seeming basic and unfettered by the details of much of the over produced music currently available, somehow remains rich and complex in its sound and feel. This is as deep as it is mystical, a true interdimensional journey.

Sir Leon Greg – Warehouse Classics #1 [WAR001]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS457664-01A-MED.jpg

Warehouse Classics Vol.1 holds 4 killer tracks going from obscure disco to new wave, first popularized at the Music Box and rarely heard anywhere else. Sir Leon Greg (another incarnation of Perseus Traxx) jams out then reinforces some edits of forgotten classics with a raw & personal analogue treatment for a devastating full effect on the dance floor, that is a far cry from the proliferation of over-produced squeaky-clean software edits. These are basic, raw ideas thrown down quickly and capturing the energy on 1/4” tape before moving on to the next set of sounds. Musically, it’s as delightfully funky and uncomplicated as you’d expect, a mesh of disco tracks and heavy, effect laden, machine-funk.

Orpheus – Path From Hades [SEQ002]

Second release on the New York imprint Sequencias. Expect three dark and introspective offerings, deeper-than-deep, dirty, and gritty house that jacks with the best the movement has to offer. We have to say that Orpheus firmly delivers here.

Nite Vision – Now is the Time [BOE014]

Nite Vision is a project from Nigel Rogers aka Perseus Traxx and Mantra that moves around early US midwestern’s house music sounds with a dim twist – which results in analog drum machine patterns melting over moody floaty pads and obscure synth leads. Rogers returs to Ben Boe’s label with a solid 9-track LP named ‘The Time Is Now’.

Cestrian / Perseus – Annihilator [FFLASH002]

CESTRIAN/PERSEUS - Annihilator (Front Cover)

Ali Renault dons his Cestrian outfit once again for some equally momentous movements for the Future Flash imprint. “Annihilator” surely ranks in the upper echelons of apt titles as Renault explodes into a frenzy of spazmoid analogue rhythms from the off. Spectral flourishes and bubbling textures keep it interesting and it all rides on top of a pummelling aqua techno groove. The aforementioned spectral elements are expanded on by Perseus Traxx on an eerie electro refix that displays all the producers’ talent for eking every last drop of lysergia out of analogue machinery.

New UK talent, very authentic and very warm ’80’s instrumental Chicago deep house and NY/NJ paradise garage, plus one track that could very well be the ultimate space bass discofreak-out soundtrack of ’70’s sci-fi series buck rogers, beedee, beedee!
