VA – Dekmantel Anniversary Series Part 5 [DKMNTLAS5.5]

Final 12″ in the series with the mighty Redshape killing it one side and Fudge Fingers ending it all on a very positive note. Redshape’s Flexx is continuing that tradition of quality outputs, being a mid-tempo house-fused techno jam for club heads alike, while Fudge Fingas’ Light My Life is a some subtle yet powerful string-inflected downtempo house track.
Martyn – Hello Darkness [BF028]

Martyn presents an exclusive addendum to his all-taking ‘Ghost People’ album, backed with remixes of LP tracks by Redshape, and L-Vis 1990 & Bok Bok. ‘Hello Darkness’ is Martyn at his most shark-eyed and deadly, and possibly his most blatant Burial tribute. Hovering ’98 Tech-Step bass sets the vibe, while bony 2-step woodblocks and chiselled Techno drums keep the motion locked-on and hard swinging, all counterbalanced by a bittersweet rave melody and bubbling electronics. Next, L-Vis 1990 & Bok Bok rework ‘Bauplan’ according to an Eski-schematic; sparse percussion and wide-gauge sound design set a minimal and precariously balanced Techno structure ripe for crafty DJs. Redshape concludes with an ominous, driven Breakbeat Techno remix of ‘We Are You In The Future’.

Redshape – Throw In Dirty / The Land [3024017]

Redshape with two tracks on 3024. A-Side ‘Throw In Dirt’ opens with vintage drum machines locked into a stooped groove as hi-hats spark off the top while a heavily filtered and pitched vocal loop offers dead eyed encouragement. After such an oppressive opener, ‘The Land’ is a noticeable change of pace. A horizon spanning kick underpins gospel’ish vocal snatches as the familiar hissing of synthesized cymbals shifts and builds on top of bass that’s more shudder than line.
Redshape – On Da Floor [RB029]

The man with the mask has the ability to maneuver between true school techno, malicious house, break beat bombs and Motor City romanticism – all ornamented with Redshape’s very own mark. For Running Back, he delivers something like a cross sum of his work. “On Da Floor” is subterranean haunted house with a broken heart, while Goom features a take-your-shirt-off Reese-bass-line.
VA – Inertia #2 [INERTIA002]

Part two of the four-part Inertia sampler again serves up four heavy-hitting techno bangers from different artists of the new-school techno generation. First up is Frenchman Marcelus who offers a heavy house and techno fusion, before London’s Sigha goes deep and ominous. Redshape and Area Forty_One close out the package with frozen, static coated sounds and textured techno respectively.

Redshape – Son Of A… [PRESENT09]

Redshape delivers two more top quality techno tracks on his own label Present. ‘Son Of A…’ brings back the freestyle craziness of the masked one. Going acid in the Redshape-way! ‘Kracken’s Game’ is more of a synthy slow builder – setting a densed atmosphere.
Palisade – So What? [LAID012]

Redshape presents his a new project Palisade, with a debut single “So What?” on Dial’s House sublabel Laid. Expect some deepness cuts diving into sounds like a storm-unique, deep and raw.

Mokira & Redshape – Time Axis Manipulation Part 3 [KM018.3]

The final part to the Mokira trilogy. ‘Manipulation Musik’ is the darkest and most cinematic piece on this collection of EPs. Delicate manipulated melodies and melancholic strings moves in and out of a crackling and distorted soundscape, telling an experimental sound tale with a sad ending. On b-side Redshape makes a remix solely using sounds from the original.

The Black Dog – Vexing Remixes [SOMA279]

Soma Records released a remix pack for The Black Dog. Redshape, Claro Intelecto and Octogen delivers 3 Detroit infused minimal remixes, while Silicone Soul gives o more friendlier face to the pack with a housey remix, in their characteristic style.
Redshape – Red Pack [PRESENT0607]

New Double pack with a sweet 6 new tracks with Redshape’s trademark sounds! Hot on the heels of his last years album that created quiet a stir among journalists, we think this one tops that one just because it contains more of the freshness and playfulness which made Redshape one of the most popular techno artists of the last years! This release will boost your energy level and makes you want to hit the early morning hours in a club.
Martyn – Hear Me [3024006]

First out the gates is 3024-006, helmed by a pair of artists as unique as they are elusive; Zomby and Redshape. Easily one of the most talked about new producers of the last few years Zomby continues to evolve upwards and out, never settling on a particular style and constantly twisting the technicolour DNA of his output. Those smeared neon fingerprints are all over his reworking of Hear Me’ which lights up clattering percussion and a black hole of a bass drop with layers of sparkling neon crystal SID chip melodies. Tackling “Seventy Four” on the flip side is determinedly enigmatic Techno classicist Redshape. Responsible for a string of unashamedly human releases since 2006, his rich organic sound has recently caught the imagination of a 4×4 scene beginning to look beyond icy [and boring] minimalism for inspiration. A highlight of the forthcoming Fabric 50: Martyn mix CD, the original’s glowering pulse is carefully built on with walls of murky analogue warmth and hissing industrial ambience before reaching a monolithic climax.
