Medical Records is beyond elated to finally present to the world the first official reintroduction and reissue of the iconic IKO “83” LP. This coveted album by minimal synth aficionados around the globe has been out of print and very rare since it’s original release in 1982. Hailing from Montreal, Canada, IKO has always been shrouded in mystery. All 3 members come from an academic background (electroacoustic composition, etc), and they met at the University of Montreal in the music department. Taking from their collective influences of 60’s pop, prog and minimalist composers as well as early industrial, they played in a few early bands before solidifying the all-synth incarnation of IKO in it’s definitive lineup. The LP was originally released on Manhattan Formula.

Spacey electronic disco from 1977… Not only was this ahead of its time, but it features the works of two of disco’s most respected, revered studio artists; Tom Moulton and Patrick Cowley. Long-since sought after, West End have done us the good service of reissuing it in all its glory. Cowley’s mega mix is linear, dubbed out and naked in vibe, which gives it a really neat timeless groove sensation. The disco mix is a little more frenetic and of its time thanks to the big drums, overlayed guitars and Michele’s sensuous vocals.

impLOG was the solo project of Don Christensen after leaving New York No Wave group The Contortions in 1979. He began making music using found sounds, a Univox drum machine, guitar stomp boxes, Casio keyboards and percussion instruments. Holland Tunnel Dive is a monotone lament, with a narrator reciting a list of all that is missing in his life along to a sparse, mechanical beat. A variable speed Milwaukee drill creeps its way into the song, eventually reaching cacophonous levels. After four minutes of industrial motorik, an upbeat saxophone riff breaks out unexpectedly, unsettling the listener even further. On the B-side is a deranged version of the Lieber and Stoller show tune On Broadway, featuring lead guitar by Jody Harris of the Contortions. The record perfectly captures the dark and seedy vibe of downtown New York in the early 80’s.

Banda Black Rio is a Brazilian musical group from Rio de Janeiro that was formed in 1976. It has a repertoire based on funk but also including samba, jazz and Brazilian rhythms. Banda Black Rio developed a particular style of instrumental soul music fusing together elements from a number of genres. This is the official reissue of the instrumental album Maria Fumaça from 1977.

Infrastructure presents VEX/DMO, three tracks from two of David Sumner’s lesser known alter-egos. Produced between ’98 and ’99, the tracks were originally released separately on 2 different 12’s, and now come together, re-mastered on INF-014.

Legendary release from Rago & Farina finally remastered and repressed on Fred Ventura’s own imprint. A fantastic Italo-disco bomb with all the ingredients and hallmarks of a true dance floor gem of its era (male vocal, female sensual vocal in foreign language, driving bassline, space aged synth and hard energy).

Reissue of one of the most wanted records on Discogs and being one the most expensive items sold on Discogs.

Reissue of 1990 NYC house record. Ben Cenac aka Dream 2 Science with a master piece African influenced house LP. This sounds somewhere in between NYC band No Smoke (Koro Koro) and the Dream 2 Science’s signature sound.

Classic re issue of ‘The Best Of Ron Hardy Vol. 1’. Remastered from original DAT’s for 2014 and re released in original Streetfire artwork. Released in conjunction with Streetfire / Trax / Harmless.

Dark Entries Editions reissue series continues with a double A-side of the first two Helen maxi singles, “Witch” and “Zanzibar”, as a 4-song EP. Helen was an Italo disco studio project that consisted of various producers, songwriters, and vocalists from Italy in the 1980s. The first line-up included popular Italo producers Piero Cairo and Massimo Noe, known for their work with Joe Yellow, Den Harrow, Pink Project, and Dharma to name a few. They were joined by prolific Italo session vocalist Elena Ferretti. “Witch” was originally released in 1983 on Out Records, a label distributed by Discomagic Records. Signature Linndrum and Simmons drums create the driving rhythm track while Elena’s powerful vocals tell the haunted tale of a witch and her magic. In 1985 the second incarnation of Helen recorded the song “Zanzibar”.

Art Fine was the duo of Fabrice Bellini (electronics, vocals) and Rush Blakemann (guitar, synthesizer) from Tuin, Italy. They recorded their only single “Dark Silence” in November of 1984, which was released by Discomagic in 1985. Fabrice programmed the electronic drums using SCI Drumtraks and added extra tracks on the Simmons SDSV. Rush played electric guitar and the Yamaha piano notes at the start of the song. Guest musicians Silvano Borgatta and Riccardo RosaThe “da da da da da” voice effect was done by engineer Gigi Guerrieri, who cut and spliced a tape rather than using a sampler, which was too expensive at the time. “Dark Silence” tells the love story of beautiful girl who Fabrice saw many times but could not reach. He called her Dark Silence, for her dark hair and eyes and the silence unwanted between them. The B-side features a remixed version with extended breaks and dubbed out bass lines and vocals.

Dark Entries Editions celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Italo Disco club hit “Walking In The Neon”. Peter Richard was the alias first adopted in 1979 by producer and vocalist Walter Beinat. His best known song was “Walking In The Neon”, released as a maxi-single on Italian label Good Vibes in 1985. For this single Richard teamed up with the production duo of Gigi Farina and Franco Rago, best known for their projects ‘Lectric Workers, Decadance, Expansives, and Wanexa. “Walking In The Neon” was written by Rago & Farina with help from Chuck Rolando, member of Italian disco group Passengers. The track’s arrangement was done by Italian disco pioneer Celso Valli who wrote club classics for Macho, Azoto, Passengers and Tantra, to name a few.

Their most varied, interesting work, City Slab Horror includes stark synthesizer workouts, several tracks of pure rhythm and noise, and, thankfully, little of the unambitious tape music for its own sake of Since the Accident. “Cyflea, Rated R,” “4.W.D.,” and the title track provide several examples of the best experimental synthesizer tracks of the mid-’80s.

The Special Brigade – one of Legowelt’s best fictitious classic-italian-late-’70’s-police-horror-cult-movie electronic techno music soundscape. Florenza Mavelli’s Special Brigade soundtrack (aka Uomini Brigata Specialle) an obscure italian tv-series tells the story of an elite special government police unit formed to counter terrorism and organized crime. It first surfaced on the legendary CBS blog late 2007, only to fade into obscurity again after the old CBS’s foreclosure. In 2009 it was remastered from vintage reel to reel tape and released on Danny’s Strange Life label on a CD album. Now Bunker brings it back! It’s great to taste six of those dramatic cuts on vinyl finally.

Speak No Evil is the sixth album by Wayne Shorter, recorded on 24 December 1964 and released on Blue Note in 1965. The music combines elements of hard bop and modal jazz. This is a Blue Note 75th Anniversary reissue.
