Luz1e – Radical Optimism [VOI023]

LUZ1E - Radical Optimism

LUZ1E makes her debut on Voitax, with a four track EP, “Radical Optimis”. The opener “Transition” lays down LUZ1E’s law, featuring headstrong drum work, matched with equally menacing bass arpeggios. If the theme of apocalypticism wasn’t obvious enough from the opening track’s looming pads, it will become apparent with “Electronic Warfare”. Served up on electro’s trustworthy chassis, we watch the distorted arpeggios unfold as the tension of the pads guide us to an dystopian finale. On the flip, the title track “Radical Optimism” uses shrill pad pressure to break the track’s dreamy opening sequence – as the modulating bass provides plenty of frequencies for the dance floor. The closing track, “Emotional Intelligence” provides a candid looking glass into the producer’s musical influences. LUZ1E’s knack for emotive pads furnish the track’s uplifting structure with class, as breaks and bass deliver us to a tender climax.

L/F/D/M – Mutual Autopsy [VOI022]

LFDM - Mutual Autopsy

Following his debut contribution to the label’s catalogue this year via the Midnight Shift x Voitax ,”Mothership” compilation, (a contribution saw the artist paired with Veronica Maximova) the Brighton based producer L/F/D/M, also known as Richard Smith, is the latest to join the catalogue on Voitax. Having pushed the boundaries of his own music, Smith managed to release an impressive amount of records throughout the last years and has perpetuated his sound on cult labels such as Cititrax, Midnight Shift, Optimo Trax, Ecstatic and Clan Destine Records. The British producer now returns to Voitax with his “Mutual Autopsy” EP – a strong four-tracker that is characterised by Smith’s undenably grainy lo-fi signature. The whole package is armed with heavyweight kicks, bloating basslines and crunchy, percussive patterns, that he perfectly crowns with some memorable and catchy synth lines. The former art student, as well as one half of Bronze Teeth, shows once again his ability to modulate his way into the abstract, while keeping it groovy and warm and firmly secures himself in the ranks with the techno avant-garde.

Cyan85 – Lucid Intervals [VOILP03]

A year has passed since Cyan85 first graced the VOITAX catalogue with his successful summer debut EP – “Bay Of Sampieri”. His dreamy pads, avant-garde take on retro arpeggios and slamming 808 beats have been continuously conquering our ears ever since, making him a young talent to watch within the electro circuit. He now returns to the imprint with his very first album – “Lucid Intervals”, demonstrating his knack for crafting ambitious pieces to establish himself as a respected producer. The LP aims to explore a variety of dystopian atmospheres and energies throughout nine infectious and carefully crafted tracks that build on electro’s rich heritage without failing to infuse it with Cyan85’s very own remarkable, dreamy electronic signature.
