La Luna Sotto Il Ponte – L’alchimia Dell Svanimento 1983-1988 [ILG003]

For its 3rd release Infoline showcases never heard compositions of Marco Repetto (former Grauzone). La Luna Sotto Il Ponte is a 2×12” compilation and a never used alias of Marco Repetto. The compilation features tracks written between 1983 – 1989. Some years after his break up with Grauzone (1981), Marco went on a darker and more industrial path, which was a common route for experimental composers at that time. Expect a solid mixture of unreleased Industrial/EBM cuts. The bonus EP replaces La Luna Sotto Il Pontes grim and dark compositions for a much more utopian mind-set and movement in its heyday. It’s 1988/1989 – Acid House is everywhere.

Lena Muir – Go [MT0025]

Malka Tuti delivers a new 7” by mysterious artist ‘Lena Muir’. Two cuts of Post Punk infused dance floor bonanza for your weirdo selectors set, or your next car chase. Sounding like they were taken out of a Robert Rodriguez movie, the 2 tracks push relentlessly forward, with a quirky drum machine, heavy bass and kick-ass guitar riffs.

James Ruskin – Consumer Patterns [BP056]

Blueprint main man James Ruskin is back on his own outlet with a fresh platter of searing techno. “Consumer Patterns” is built on drums that hammer so hard they could put a nail in your wall. The loopy synth lines that run through them add wonky brilliance, then “Social Acceptance” is pure anxiety inducing techno with unresolved loops sending you wild. “Weakness Of The System” is more through, with broken beat patterns and nagging chords suggesting a sense of loss and bring real melancholia to the dance floor.

VA – Studiolo (The 90’s Cosmic Afro Era) [ATN053-DZN02]

Antinote and Dizonord present Studiolo. Northeastern Italy, at the beginning of the 1980s, an entire local scene gathered around a handful of DJs who put their dancefloors in a trance to the sounds of ”rare, new, and singular” music, under the strong influence of ethnic and world music. Mixes where German Kosmische clashes with space disco, along with the most experimental side of British new wave, industrial music, creepy funk, deviant rock and pop. All this mixed with Brazilian and Afro music, reggae, ragga, percussions and bhangra… A kind of mixing in total rupture with that of a dying disco for which it is intended as an alternative. A way of playing songs often at the wrong speeds, at 33RPM instead of 45RPM and vice versa, and always the obsession of a slow tempo, between 95 and 110 BPM, while the cruising speed of disco mixes goes up to 125/130 BPM… A haunting rhythm, accelerated or slowed down voices, with experimental and ethnic approaches. This fusion of styles was named “Cosmic Style” by Daniele Baldelli, resident of the Cosmic Club in Rimini, and ”Afro Style” by Beppe Loda, resident of the Typhoon in Gambara. It is in this last period that this compilation will immerse you, through 8 tracks from the Italian, German and Austrian scenes.

VA – Fragments 1 [HVNCOMP1/6]

Part one of Hivern Discs’ Fragments compilation. While compilations tend to look backwards, ‘Fragments’ is far from being a retrospective. Since its launch in 2008, Hivern Discs has favoured a documentary approach, capturing the most vital and exciting sounds within its orbit at each particular moment. In keeping with the ethos of the label, this extensive compilation, comprising 29 new tracks across six 12″s, offers a panoramic glimpse of Hivern’s present and gives indications as to its near future. This is the first part and includes five tracks by Arthur Evans, Benedikt Frey, Epsilove, John Talabot and Walden.

Mondowski – Sholay [SC&P007]

Mondowski makes his full label debut on Snap Crackle & Pop with an electro inspired turn. Dancefloor orientated lead track Sholay finds a mesmerizing path somewhere between extroverted 80’s electro and celebratory spiritual transcendence and gets the remix treatment from Kris Baha who subverts the original by turning the electro backbone up to 11. The EP’s B-side, Negative Space, voyages into darker electro territories with Kraftwerkesque synths, rolling pads and a motorik bassline, all of which provides the launchpad for Multiple Man to turn out a pitch black EBM banger.

Bufiman – Albumsi [DKMNTL074]

The long-awaited debut album from Jan Schulte’s more dancefloor-focused Bufiman project. He’s absolutely nailed it, offering up a vibrant 12-track selection that giddily joins the dots between freestyle, electro, dub disco, vintage deep house, skewed Balearic synth-pop, breakbeat, hip-house, kosmiche and the heavily percussive drum workouts that have long been Schulte’s stock-in-trade. The fact that each track offers multiple musical reference points whilst delivering something undeniably fresh – despite the undeniably retro-futurist feel present throughout – is undoubtedly the album’s strongest suit. To put it simply, “Albumsi” is a gloriously kaleidoscopic, thrill-a-minute concoction that counts as Schulte’s single greatest body of work to date.

VA – Diamonds In The Night [BAP134]

Bordello is back with a new compilation series: Diamonds In The Night. An homage to the hours of darkness (and the great composer who went by the name of Felli – R.I.P.). From ecstatic peak time dance floor action to erotic euphoria and its more edgy after hours just before dawn. For the first volume we’ve selected four fine diamonds by The Hacker and Voiron from France, Armonics from Italy and Discobeton from Bulgaria.

Aux88 – Counterparts [DBC001]

The return of the extraterrestrial time travelers Aux88 have returned with an all new double LP, Counterparts. Unforgettable bass lines and vocals that make everyone run to the dance floor and ascend to the DJ booth for confirmation of, “who is this?” Side A – starts with the track “Intel.” The string work and Kraftwerkian tone is evident with this gem. Aux88 takes it even further with a message to the electro haters, “You Don’t Want None of This!” Side B – “Moon Walker” simply put…that Bass Line…wow! As only Aux88 and a few others can do it … Detroit styled Parliament Funkadelic funky. Side C – gives homage to the Detroit jitters with the track “Pothole Paradise.” It’s fast funky and not for messing around. As Mike Banks said in the Aux88 documentary interview, “when DJ’s drop Aux88 shit, it’s time to dance and shake that ass!” Pothole Paradise is exactly that type of track….Detroit Proud. The culmination of all original 4 members returning for a new flight from the Aux quadrant to invade the world. The Double LP gives you electro/techno funk from Detroit Legends Blak Tony, K-1, Posatronix & Tom Tom.
