”The Happening” by Tomorrow Comes The Harvest is a provocative confrontation. It’s a challenge or dare to the idea that music can be useful if we are able to experience it. I would imagine that to many, music having an objective beyond the listener doesn’t make sense because the general thought is that Music is made for us to consume, to make us remember, to influence us and to make us feel something. The Happening does all those things but much more.
Jennifer Touch releases her next LP ‘Aging at Airports’ on Fabrika Records. The idea for the record title came before the music even existed as Touch was spending an increasing amount of time in airports while touring. In her own words: “It felt like I waste a large part of my life waiting for the next show to come, to entertain and perform my music and build timeless moments with others. This waiting, the slowly ticking time at the gate, was in complete contrast to what I want to do as an artist: to be in flux, to create things that will last forever. The airport, as a busy hub, was like a symbol of this ambivalence. And a reminder: every second, whether waiting or on the move, I have to accept that I am fading, that my creative power, my face, and my body are fading. As a (performing) artist, everything feels like a strange contrast. While you want to stay true to yourself and speak authentically from the soul, you are also expected to appear forever young, and powerful. Artists are often wanted to distract people, but creating this art forces me to confront my own transience. I feel the struggle to fit into this powerful artificial framework that the world has set and the desire to break free from it.”
Two decades into a boundary-pushing career, American musician, composer, and academic John Maus releases his most powerful work yet: Later Than You Think. Arriving via his new label Young, the album explores themes of justice, confession, rebirth, transformation, and spiritual warfare, further expanding the liminal space where outsider art collides with art-pop, raw emotion, and intellectual depth. A 21st-century philosopher-musician, Maus has earned a mythic reputation for his fierce belief in the emotional weight of sound, eccentric interpretations of pop and baroque, and legendary, cathartic live shows. Holding a degree in experimental music from CalArts and a PhD in political science from the University of Hawaii, he’s been dubbed a “philosopher pop star” and “nostalgic futurist” for the way he merges academic rigor with lo-fi synth-pop aesthetics. His influence spans high and low culture—from UK grime icon Skepta, who sampled his track “I’m Only Human,” to Josh Safdie, Natasha Lyonne, nettspend and collaborators like Panda Bear and Molly Nilsson.
ULTRA SUNN, the Brussels-based EBM/coldwave duo, unleash their highly anticipated sophomore album, The Beast In You, on Artoffact Records. Building upon the success of their impactful debut, US, the new record promises to delve deeper into the raw, primal energies that define their signature sound. Drawing heavily from their Belgian heritage, The Beast In You is a potent distillation of classic electronic body music and the hypnotic rhythms of Belgian new beat. Listeners can expect the unmistakable throb of analog synths and precisely programmed industrial drum machines. ULTRA SUNN expertly channels the aggressive power and driving force of their influences, infusing them with their own contemporary edge.
With the album ‘Dunkelheit’, Grey Gallows have experimented exclusively with the electronic sound using analogue and digital synthesizers and tried to expand their musical boarders into different genres and styles, keeping their artistic signature in every composition from the early 80’s EBM to the modern electronic sound.
Best known for his cinematic jungle excursions, Seb Uncles returns to Livity Sound for a second extended release of introspective electronics with a strong influence from mystical sources. As Eusebeia, Uncles has developed a strong, independent presence in modern electronic music defined by a prolific run of deep-diving, breakbeat-driven albums and EPs.’ The Wyrding Way’ finds Uncles delving even deeper into this area of his output, keeping drums to a bare minimum and focusing instead on powerful melodic lines. There are still considered soundsystem moments that connect with Livity’s long-standing sonic focus, not least the subtle dub inflection of EP centrepiece ‘By The Light Of The Moon’. Elsewhere Uncles leaves the melodic parts unaccompanied, letting the phrasing and emotional pull of the title track tell its own story. Balancing light and dark elements and drawing inspiration from personal experiences and perspectives, combined with spiritual and existential observations, Uncles capitalizes on the evocative streak in his studio practice to deliver a timeless, immersive experience unlike anything else in his considerable back catalogue.
Vakula invites us on a sonic journey with his latest album titled “Cloud Bloom.” Composed of four tracks, this album explores the depths of deep and dub techno, creating atmospheres that envelop the listener in a unique experience. Most of the instruments are organic, complemented by analog synthesizers, giving it a warm and authentic touch. Each track is an exploration of sonic textures that evoke dreamlike landscapes and moments of introspection. It’s an ideal offering for those who appreciate immersive sounds and a hypnotic vibe.
Italian visionary Franz Scala returns to Slow Motion Records, with the infectious, ground-moving LP ‘Cafe Futuro’, a follow-up to his highly acclaimed debut’ Mondo Della Notte. Originally released in 1983 as a B-side, ‘Bad Luck’ gets a fresh perspective thanks to seasoned producer and musician Eric Kupper, who refines this hidden gem with clean edits that amplify its timeless charm. The vocal edit on Side-1 bursts with energy, blending soulful vocals, funky guitar licks and sweeping disco strings. The arrangement perfectly balances soul, funk and pop influences, creating a groove designed to hook listeners in and remind them of the good disco nights. It’s the kind of track that commands attention and keeps feet moving effortlessly. The instrumental edit on Side-2 lets the lush instrumentation take centre stage. With a focus on rhythm and melody, this version highlights the song’s finely tuned balance of disco and funk, making it equally suited for dancefloors or late-night listening sessions and the horn section in the chorus really takes flight here.
The seventh release on The Comfort comes from a legendary Finnish electro-disco duo known to any music nerd worth their salt: Putsch79, the pair of Sami Liuski and Pauli Jylhankangas. Heavy on bliss and warmth, the four tracks sit elegantly between italo, house, and disco, featuring sleek vocoders, beautiful arpeggios, soft percussion, gentle plucks, and just the right amount of low-end to hold it all together.
SWOB returns and introduces a new artist to the fold. Several years after a 12” for the Unrelatable imprint, Marco Passarani opens a new chapter with F.F.O.M., a work of extra-terrestrial tales that feel grounded, where the hard, dirty work of the people continues on a different planet. The scenery changes, but the story stays the same: broken dreams on arid ground. Passarani blends experimentation with an unshakable sense of groove, weaving a more abstract narrative without losing the dancefloor pulse. While distinct from his Studiomaster output, the project shares the same DNA, fusing digital and analog textures until the boundaries dissolve.

Finally, the pioneering first album from the group Newcleus that epitomized the spontaneous, simultaneous and glorious emergence of the Hip-Hop and Electro Funk genres is back on vinyl. The song ”Where’s the Beat” has been extracted due to it’s not actually being made by the group, but every other note and beat is included as it was originally released, from the opening narration and the sound effects joining the songs to the classic Hip-Hop and Electrofunk in-between. Also included for the first time anywhere is the previously unreleased track “Disco Kryptonite”. For 40 years following the release of “Jam On It”, one of the most common requests Cozmo had received was to actually do a song called “Disco Kryptonite”. For the rerelease of Jam On Revenge on vinyl, Cozmo figured it was time. Everybody knew that in the Superman battle in the song “Jam On It”, Jam-On used a song called “Disco Kryptonite” to win the battle. So, this new song had to be worthy of the name.
Paula looked at her arms to see skin start to shimmer, limbs stretching, shapes shifting as the weight of her old self passed like a wave. She soared through the open window, metamorphed, shapeless, but a sonic whole.
