Berlin’s Mechatronica returns with another compilation of forward-thinking electro and acid sounds from Innershades, Norwell, DJ Nephil and Gestalt. The A-side packs a dose of merciless electro/acid for the floor by Innershades, followed by a dazzling, atmospheric electro journey by Norwell. The flip boasts a more gritty sound, as Russian producer Gestalt debuts on Mechatronica with the twisted ‘Mndfck’, and DJ Nephil’s slow-rolling monster ‘White Dwarf’ finishes off the record.
Science Fiction shifted from their early deep territories of house to the current broken beats of electro, keeping the characteristic classic analogue warmth. This EP is made by various artists, and it comes under the signature of an obsessive majestic presence of the 808 beat, that sounds like an accidental tribute to the creator of this drum machine, founder of Roland Corporation, that has died on april the 1st as a fool that changed the way to make music since early 80es. Tracks are mostly sustained, from synched sequences of Hinode to the final atmospheric obscure modular landscapes of Exterminador, chromed by Ngly distortions in track 02. DJ Nephil on the B side introduces a solid visionary Chicagesque mellow atmosphere.
Next up on Gravitational Waves, Dj Nephil brings four unrelenting bangers designed for peak hour play. A collection of tough drums and arpeggiated synths is a unifying theme and will serve those djs who want to highly energetic EBM tinged weapons.
Two weeks ago we were unlucky enough to miss our Berlin weekend due to airport strike in both Berlin airports.
We missed a monstrous line-up at Griessmühle with Bleak, Johannes Volk, DJ Overdose and Hakim Murphy on Friday and June, Florian Kupfer, AN-i and Zadig on Saturday night.
We managed to reschedule our trip for this weekend and we hope that we will get to and from Berlin all safe.
This weekend offering is not that bad and we will have again a diverse music program.
