Silent Servant – Hypnosis in the Modern Age Vol. II [LIES080]

L.I.E.S. presents a new three track ep by Los Angeles producer Silent Servant. Known for his previous work with techno outfit Sandwell District, Juan Mendez, since the dissolve of the group has tapped into his formative new wave/post punk and early electronic influences effectively applying them to his recent productions to create an engaging amalgamation of modern dance music. Across this ep the sounds of Bleep, EBM, and even Minimal Synth are all present…from deep floor movers to jagged edged 150 bpm skankers, Mendez through these last years has been responsible for opening up minds on the floor and this ep proves to be a testament of such.

Sterac – Osirion [RHM022]

Reissue of one of Amsterdam’s most respected producers Steve Rachmad aka Sterac ‘s essential 1996 Detroit techno classic. On the A side you’ll find Osirion, a track built on a classic drumloop layered with Rachmad style arppegiators and euphoric strings. The B side features a more abstract 909 Detroit infused loop, full of heavy synths and percussion. Both tracks have stood the test of time and still sound fresh as ever.

Der Zyklus – Renormalon [WEME31312]

Renormalon is a collaborative effort between Elena Sizova, Heinrich Mueller: music data and Dr Olga Karelkina: visual data + encoding. Its purpose technically is to visually and sonically communicate the renormalon physics principle. Each composition is separate component of the theory representing a particular phenomenon in the realm of quantum uncertainty. The observer is to be immersed conceptually and hopefully will experience discrete states of energy which is integral in atomic behavior.

Electronic Badminton King – Responsible Design [FRTLP001]

Scienceofuse is a new electronic music label from Ljubljana, Slovenia. Its purpose is to transmit futuristic frequencies by using the science of creation to transcend perceived limitations. Connecting the advances in our culture and technology with the important lessons of visionaries that came before us. The label’s first release, “Responsible Design” by veteran DJ and expert knob-twiddler known as Electronic Badminton King (E.B.King for short) is an acid-tinged affair with a darkish early noughties electro vibe on the A-side, while the flip delivers an abrasive technoid banger coupled with a deeper floating acid cut.

Versalife – Singularity EP [SHIP034]

It’s fair to say that Boris Bunnik has made an impact in his short career. In less than a decade this dutch man, under monikers like Conforce and Versalife, has scaled Electro and Techno with subtle ambient touches and IDM echoes. And that’s exactly what he’s doing for the Singularity EP. Lush pads and flowing bars punctuated by crisp percussion, “Shine Eye” sets the scene. “Autobots” adopts those same brittle beats, this time using them to send dreaming strings skyward. Northern winds swirl around the colder chords of “MILnet”, chords that dawn into absorbing swirls of “Transgenics.” Masterful machine music.

LA-4A – Phonoautograph [DELFT013]

Kevin McHugh returns to his Delft imprint as LA-4A for his & the label’s first artist album. Phonautograph represents an artist album in its purest sense: a deeply personal work that feels like the culmination of a lifetime of passion and experience – one that ebbs and flows across a variety of styles and tempos, from the electrifying acid house and electro of ‘Resistor’, ‘Capacitance’ and ‘Dialup’ to slower tempo ambient and experimental excursions such as ‘Frequenzvariabler’, ‘Blitzlicht’ and ‘Semantron’.

Afik Naim – Songs For Tova [DOLLY025]

With ‘Songs For Tova’ Dolly introduces a brand new producer called Afik Naim. This rough diamond was pulled out of a cave near Jerusalem. He has a cinematic experimental take on what you would call Techno but he is rather hard to classify to be honest. Exactly what we like, somebody who stands out with his typical sound pallet. Another perfect player on this ‘Songs For Tova’ team is the never disappointing Kassem Mosse with a killer remix to wrap up this high class 4 tracker.

Carl Finlow – Electricology 4 [ELECTRIX007]

Electrix Records launches its 2016 schedule by welcoming back after almost 3 years the always impressive, Carl Finlow. His ‘Electricology 4 EP’ once again shows why he’s a master of the genre. From the tough and funked-up ‘Lateral Thoughts’, speckled and melodic ‘Hyperloop’, squelching, bassy ‘Suspect Reanimation’ and sinister, beat-driven ‘Latext’, right through to the playful ‘Atomic Level’ (a bonus track for the digital release), the EP shines, with a stamp of high quality running though its core.

Jensen Interceptor – M EP [CPU00011101]

Previously half of pseudo-kitsch acid-electro force Light Year, and now gone solo, Mikey Melas aka Jensen Interceptor joins the binary cataloging CPU with a perfectly formed electro cut. Any artist who samples Ghost in the Shell, arguably one of the greatest anime films of all time, are all right by us. Mikey does so to great effect on the big beat / trip hop tempo ‘Model 2029’, which sits alongside three unrelenting electro bass bin destroyers. Mactavis being the toughest cut, utilising a fierce driving 808 with a robotic bassline interjecting throughout. Electro is often overlooked for the club but it’s obvious this E.P. was designed from the ground up to smash a big room.
