Lerosa – Il Nostro Tempo [SLOMO023]

LEROSA - Il Nostro Tempo

Lerosa makes his debut release on Slow Motion with ‘Il Nostro Tempo’. Lerosa has crafted four tracks of wistful, propulsive dance music. The trance inducing chug of ‘Il Nostro Tempo’ and the bittersweet synths of ‘La Monarca’ take up side-a, a pair of contemporary club cuts oozing with emotional melodies and stripped back rhythms. On side-b the the skittish rhythms and wobbly arpeggiator of ‘Ninfa’ take you through to the early hours. ‘Pompeo’, perhaps the most emotional of four nostalgically sad club jams works just as effectively tugging your heartstrings on the headphones early in the morning as it does in a smoky club late at night.

Sova Stroj – Silent Earth LP [TTTB008]

Sova Stroj is the nom de plume of Luxembourg-based producer Michel Flammant. With a history in black metal, rock and synth pop bands, he has now ventured out on his own, delving into experimental and electronic music. Sova Stroj’s debut album ‘Silent Earth’ explores feelings of willful desertion through forty minutes of highly concentrated and almost teleologically dark ambient patterns. Musically the album is centered around an abstracted industrial music influence paired with precise and evocative melodic and harmonic explorations.

Q3A – Space Chamber [114DSR/Q3A-1]

Route 8 under his alias Q3A serves up a sumptuous four track EP, Space Chamber, on the Delsin label and it touches on many different styles with equally great results. ‘Lost Souls’ is first and is an expansive bit of well driven deep house with rich synths and cavernous innards that really suck you in. Next up is another serenely crafted bit of atmospheric house with dusty drums and lose hits all backed with heavenly pads and retro bass. The first of the b-side tracks is a chunky acid kicker with angelic vocals drifting up top as a controlled 303 line rips up the foreground. Spaced out and deep, driving yet emotive, it is a moving bit of club music before the B2 trips you out on a silvery electro tip with its icy lines and slap-funk snares.

Ian Martin – Seer [PZ1016]

Rotterdam’s Ian Martin has brought his own brand of dark ambient and unsettling electronics to a stellar clutch of labels. Of these, it is the Bunker/Panzerkreuz crew that Martin has become most readily associated with, perhaps due to the fact label and artist reside in the Netherlands. Wright Seer finds Martin back on Panzerkreuz for his first release of 2016 and features five more untitled tracks of subtle drone-electro hybrids that sound all the more mind-bending with each successive listen.

Isorinne – Recollections Of Forgotten Dreams [FIELD019]

Michael Isorinne delivers a stunningly beautiful EP for Dutch label Field. From the hissing ambience on “Blurred Perceptions Of Substance” to the solemn layers of sound and bird song melody on “Reality Is What You Can Get Away With” to the organic textures of “Whereabouts Unknown”, this is a sensuous, sumptuous release. In places, it is almost opulent in its detail, as the chiming bells and eerie sound scapes of “Without Tears” demonstrate. However, Isorinne is never too conceited to stray into self-indulgence and closing track “Terrestrial Measure” reveals the producer’s frailty and humanity for all to experience.

The second release on People of Earth is from another Detroit native that calls Atlanta home, Mr. Reggie Dokes. The Psychostasia Boss is back with his trademark jazzy, soulful house tracks that blend techno and house in a way that only Reggie can. Straight dance floor heat.

Brian Harden – The World Peace EP [COLT002]

Originally released back in 2001 on Chicago’s finest Nite Life Collective, The World Peace is one of Brian Harden’s personal favourites among his many releases. Born in Chicago’s southside and back by popular demand, Harden’s back catalogue is full of gems, but it was after a series of coincidences that we decided to reissue two of the tracks on the original The World Peace EP, and then add a twist in the shape of an astounding remix by SIT, the duo formed by Cristi Cons and Vlad Caia.

The Exaltics – The Girl & The Chameleon [SHIPLP004]

“The Girl and the Chameleon” will probably fall under the genre tags of acid, electro and techno but it is so much more. Robert Witschkowski has been responsible for exemplary electronics throughout his career and this latest is undeniably some of his best. The album sees The Exaltics don a dust mask. Warehouse parties, strobe lights and fog machines and the 90s underground acid scene are definite influences. But there’s more. Across thirteen tracks and two slabs of wax the Jena artist takes you on a journey into his world. Gnarled and clinical grooves, caustic 303 encounters, depraved dancefloor destroyers and soothing machine music. A sonic trek through tough and taut textures with touches of tenderness. An album that shows a depth of ability, an enviable talent and a knowledge of how to break floorboards.

Mono Junk – State of Funk EP [RAT007]

Mono Junk delivers four pieces of pure Finnish melancholia for Rat Life’s 7th release. This guy is a true European techno originator and like no one he reflects the darkness of the long, cold and lonely winters of suomi in his music. While listening to these tracks you will find yourself wondering: are these voices coming from the speakers or are you listening to your own morbid thoughts? Perfect soundtrack for your winter depression. Can’t understand what you say!
