Trevor Jackson releases a collected triple LP edition via The Vinyl Factory featuring 13 tracks including an exclusive bonus cut not available on any of the initial releases. Curated from an archive of over 150 tracks Trevor had built up over the past 2 decades, the inspiration for Jackson’s music, has come from “the times and places where genres weren’t quite formed.” While his synth and beatbox workouts might touch on proto-house, on new wave, on Italo and techno, on ambient and psychedelia, they are at the same time none of these things. Musically, Format explores Jackson’s usual obsessions – industrial, new wave, EBM, electro, post-punk disco and techno, in particular – with great gusto.

Recorded in a Bunker somewhere in the ancient basque region, Sagas of Subterranean life is a collection of 5 sagas that are heavily influenced by Scandinavian life and European culture in general. Showcasing a versatile collection of 5 bits that range from moving distorted house jams to synth blops and violating techno, ”Norse” is not just a collaboration between soul notes head honcho ”Kastil” and Rotterdam based ”Gitchell Moore”, it’s also a project that tends to avoid genre-restrictions and box thinking.

Tar Hallow is a new label based in Rotterdam devoted in electronic music. The second volume in the Salamanca edit series comes with four tracks by Mad’R, Afrobot, Mike Burns and Matt Moroder.

Next up in the Highlife World Series, we take a trip to Kenya where our man Esa plays the role of producer for the first time; with super talented local musicians – Sarabi and Makadem (aka the Fela of Kenya). Instantly timeless on both sides, see for yourself..

Supafrico unearths another superb collection of impossible to find Afro Disco rarities. South Africa’s legendary songstress Margaret Singana is up first with her in-demand cover of the Stretch classic Why Did You Do It, a super-funky take on an already great song, previously only available on her 1977 Tribal Fence LP. Next up is Boogie Trip by Nigerian Doris Ebong, an uber-rare Afro boogie bomb, high on many a collectors wants list. The flip side features another couple of excellent cover versions, Sweet Talks party-starting Afro disco version of Andy Gibbs hit Shadow Dancing and the highly sought-after Disco Push from late Seventies South African band The Movers – a great floor filling take on Marvin Gayes Got To Give It Up.

Wilson Records boss Fabio Monesi returns with a blistering seven track LP. ‘Parasol Dance’ embodies the musical headway and fruition Fabio experienced exploring different soundscapes and rhythms in his London based studio this last year. The crisp analogue cuts in the album are peppered with Monesi’s organic evolution from the New Jersey sound drawing inspiration from Jazz, Funk and even Disco, all the while never faltering on the end product of raw undulating grooves. In a sentence, in ‘Parasol Dance’ Fabio has dished up a vibrant collection of raw and robust cuts that keep you locked from start to finish and will be no doubt be finding a welcome home in record bags across the globe.

East to West is about horizons. Facing the sea, east or west, at dusk or dawn, it never appears the same. We talk about well known territory, the world of Move D and Benjamin Brunn. Following a number of collaborations, now for the first time the two present individual works on one record, back to back.

CEM enters the Soul People Music universe with deep experimental vibrations that conjures imagery in the imagination. His genuine approach to other music make this EP very special. It is a true find for those who are not as others.

John Shima is making waves with his fresh approach to that classic Detroit sound. His contribution for Boe is nothing short of a stunning representation of underground electronic music. ‘Prototype’ is a sonic ode to industry: blueprinted in the motor city and forged in Sheffield. It’s heads down for the dance floor with shimmering metallic overtones and a side order of robot jack.

Some serious hot techno tracks again by SP-X. Part 3 of the Moving Through Mirrors series closes off this triple release by SP-X. Fleeting Image and Lingering Resentment leave no doubt about this producer’s main objective: fresh, contemporary techno aimed at the waistline

The Inertia sub-arm of Dutch label Delsin is back. Inertia-5 introduces Discrete Circuit with a fierce three track EP. Connecting Berlin with Detroit, their EP kicks off with ‘Machine Code’, a frazzled techno cut with bleeps and alarms, sirens and rusty synths that all make for intense listening. On the flip ‘Recursive Descent’ is even more unhinged, with a see-sawing, saw-tooth synth line ripping up frantic hits and loopy drums and getting right into your brain as it does so. ‘Compiler’ is a more subtle, stripped back and seductive techno roller with supple synths undulating above rooted, rubbery kicks and woodpecker like percussion.

Scenery Records turns to another Liverpudlian producer, Binny, for a brace of new tracks that come with interesting remixes from Windy City native Chicago Skyway and label cohort Circular Rhythms.
