Casey Tucker – Alternative Faction [LVNO15]

Casey Tucker is up to bat once again for Love Notes from Brooklyn. This time, though, it’s a more complete three track artist EP on offer. The music, of course, encapsulates everything that’s great about Casey’s sound: the lush pads, the crispy percussion, the emotional strings, and the dance-floor destroying basslines. Alternative Faction utilizes one such dancefloor destroying bassline to create a real fist pumping moment in the title track; That Time of Year uses a wriggly acid synth line over the aforementioned emotional strings, and to great effect; and New Mission ends the EP in a unwavering fashion; with heartstring-tugging, terk jerking, emotional pads over an acid line in signature Casey Tucker fashion.

Traxx – Demented – Fluids of Acid Adrenaline, Uncontrolled with Endless Effects

For the next episode we present an acidic journey through the familiar, yet unfamiliar realms of the uncanny. A special 2 hour and 42 minute presentation of psychedelia that recalls the dark corners of warehouse parties of a forgotten era, while at the same time, striking to the current core of modern jakbeat aesthetics. Further mind altering experiences are provoked and amplified by a delay pedal that runs its course from beginning to end, while making no apologies for its audible presence. And without further adieu, we present “Demented – Fluids of Acid Adrenaline, Uncontrolled with Endless Effects”, a sound painting by, Traxx.

Betonkust & Palmbomen II – Leo / Mirjam [DKMNTL057]

Taken from the forthcoming Dekmantel LP Center Parcs by esoteric Dutch production duo Betonkust & Palmbomen II, comes the ‘Leo/ Mirjam’. The track is a rendition of upbeat-melancholic, future- retroism, and a slice of saturated house music. The flip features a special, unyielding, acid-tempo rework by Legowelt.

Jamal Moss – Acid Taken Over [0000000-003]

‘Jamal Moss has cultivated an unmistakable sonic vocabulary. Genre signifiers are contorted into perplexing polyrhythms of perpetual dynamism and velocity. The chirps and squelches of acid heritage are subverted and lunged into new zones without sacrificing spirit. This is another essential statement from an impossibly unique and uncompromising talent.’ Tadd Mullinix … Jamal Moss’s Acid Attacks tape on a 2xLP with an exclusive vinyl only tracks.

VA – Tone Dropout Vol. 5 [TD18005]

London label Tone Dropout return for Vol. 5 of their series of 12’s. An acid washed EP drawing from the ranks of their ever growing family, each of the four tracks celebrates the timeless appeal of the silver boxed 303. To kick things off, the He Men (AKA Oki Noki and Sween) combine the deep space sounds of Detroit techno and mind-altering acid lines of Phuture with the rubbery beats of New York deep house. Dawl opts for brain-melting analogue bass and wild machine bleeps on mutant jack-track “Asylum”, while Corporeal Face’s “Permo” is probably best described as “hardcore clonk”. Eslewhere, you’ll find two chunks of Frankie Bones style breakbeat techno heaviness that wouldn’t have sounded out of place rushing from the speakers at an early ’90s Sunrise rave.

ELO – Visitante [DNTB004]

The dirtiest record that has released Discos Nutabe. “Vistante’ is the new sound spectrum from ELO, an artist born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and based in Bogotá, Colombia. ELO has decided to raise the sound bet of Nutabe and offer a release that brings acid and techno elements combined with housey nuances. This is a product of his new life perceptions since his arrival to Colombia. It’s an experiment for the dance floor, and his point of view of rude and disorganized house music.

R-Zone – R-Zone 20 [RZONE020]

R-Zone series hits release number 20 with another genre defying four track EP by no one knows who. As always, the music looks backwards to go forwards and frantically blends breakbeat, rave, acid, house, electro and techno into wild new forms. The Geometry of Shadows kicks off with a flurry of pinging kick drums, rushing synths and smeared chords that manage to be physical yet serene at the same time. Chrysalis is deep Detroit style house with gurgling basslines and warm future soul synths extending off into the cosmos. Ship of Tears then races through the galaxies as asteroids, shooting sci-fi synths and glassy melodies all fly by in enchanting fashion, Acid is buried deep within and the drum programming is busy and direct. The Parliament of Dreams closes things down with more haunting celestial pads and cold acid lines that are all backed by boom-bap breakbeats. It’s dance floor euphoria of the highest order once more.
