Debut album from the highly intriguing June. ‘Cyntheria’ is a canny mix of vintage Chicago moods and grooves with more European Italo influences, dreamy and ethereal electronic music grounded in classic chicago, acid house, new wave and synth pop. The album includes also two DJ Sprinkles remixes.
DJ Yoav B. releases three new tracks on the Belgian Meakusma label. Gently rubbing shoulders with Detroit Techno and HipHop, built on crazy loops and raw rhythms, the tracks are enhanced with psychedelic and playful sounds, that give them the feeling of being in continuous flux and movement. The mood here is absorbing yet ambivalent. On top of this, Protect-U, from the fantastic Future Times camp, delivers a remix, pulling the music away from reality, firmly aiming it for the universe. With a mid-tempo House feeling, a crispy bassline and abstract synthesizer pattern, they take the listener beyond the infinite.
Nicholas makes his debut on 4lux. “All Night Long” is an old school 90’s piano house nugget that also gets the remix touch by 4lux head honcho Gerd: early 90’s house influenced vibes. The flip contains “All I Need” and the slow paced house cut “Stay Together”.
New Mahogani release from Joy of Sound Productions, with some lovely soulful house and a wonderful beatdown soul cut with sublime male vocal. All with that rich, organic Mahogani feel – congas, Rhodes, live bass etc.
Praterei present their third installment, 7 Citizens returns with more Chicago synthestry in the form of ‘Quietus’. The remix comes from Force/Emerge and proffers a gritty low slung alternative.

Perspectiv Records kick off their 2011 vinyl releases with the ”Bribe ’em With Candy” EP. This is the debut on the label for German duo Motec and Daniel Gelbe under their production pseudonym, Eve White, featuring some exquisite deep house tracks.
Classy Dub House grooves from Session View for Enypnion. Both the original ‘Orange’ and the ‘Pressure Mix’ are carved with pneumatic hi-hats and aqua-swung bass and measured matrix of FX. The title tracks is more idiosyncratic, unusually pulling up the kick drum anchor a quarter through the track and leaving us in cold outer dub space with only a sharp hi-hat and absorbing atmospheres for the duration.
The second offering from Laak on their Austere imprint is another defined four tracker. “Back of Beyond” kicks things off, a sincere heads down jam combining Latin percussion elements with a killer bass line and warm chords. The second track, “Don’t Ever Leave” is a heartfelt lament on the feeling of loss, slowing the tempo down. On the flip, “Cosmic Causeway” offers something a little different although keeping with the warm pads, this time the use of a spaced out trumpet keeps things flowing. The remaining track “Cantankerous Emotions” is a little different as regards to the beats, but loses none of the soul and profoundness of the other tracks.
The first EP on Austere is coming from Laak, underground music for the deep heads, with a sound palette of warm pads, discreet analog melodies and vintage drum patterns. The tracks give a huge nod to Chicago, Detroit and the forefathers of the genre but remain contextual and fresh.
