A new release by Detroit veterans Keith Tucker & Anthony ‘Blaktony’ Horton. Known mostly for his vocals, writings and concepts, DEMF vet-Blaktony places his producers hat on to release on Technorama Records his new electro project alongside of Keith Tucker, part of the famous electro duo Aux88, who has recorded under several monikers such as Optic Nerve, K-1 or Alien FM since the very early nineties and who has built his own unique style of electro and techno music out of Detroit.

After a mini-hiatus, Lunar Disko Records returns with a four track EP featuring two of their favourite producers, VC-118A and Delta Funktionen. VC-118A aka Samuel van Dijk guides the listener into deeper realms of sound via three more expertly crafted electro tracks. Aficionado’s of VC-118A’s deep sound will be particularly pleased with this latest installment of emotive electronics from the VC-118A project. Delta Funktionen makes his Lunar debut and completes the EP with a killer techno / electro remix of Vlucht Naar Nachtschade. DF combines rough 808 drums and a deep moog-like bass with VC-118A’s sparse and spacious sound to devastating effect.

Hipodrome’s 2013 Review (Part 2 of 3)
The second part of my review of 2013 is dedicated to the best events and performances I attended this year. Part 1 includes the preferences of the hipodrome blog’s followers.
VA – 100DSR Compilation [100DSR]
17 years after first releasing a cassette EP from label boss Marsel van der Wielen under his Peel Seamus guise, Delsin has now hit the landmark category number of 100. Truth is, taking into account choice re-issues and specials such as the recent house series, there have already been scores more than 100 releases. Nevertheless, in that time the Dutch label has become synonymous with a wide range of timeless sounds from house to techno to dub to electronica, nurturing and championing some of the most respected names in the scene, all of which can now be enjoyed on 5 separate, various artist vinyl EPs or one impressive two disc compilation. Far from just a collection of tracks, the 100DSR compilation has been carefully curated to tell the tale of Delsin. Each record conveys a slightly different part of the story – be it house, techno, beats or electro – yet every one is tied together by the label’s own underlying sense of desolate melancholy. Across the five EPs and complete CD collection there are tracks from newbies and old favourites alike, including Sawlin and Delta Funktionen, John Beltran and Bleak, Redshape and Convextion, Gerry Read and Claro Intelecto.
