First up, i’m not in the habit of speaking up publicly, but I feel I have something to say…
Since I started out playing records 16 years ago, I have become increasingly frustrated by the lack of respect for our dance music heritage & artistry output In this increasingly naive era of disposable music, where tracks stay in people’s record bags (or should i say laptops) for a nanosecond before being ruthlessly sidelined for ‘newer, fresh’ material. I’ve always tried to play music that speaks to me. A lot of new stuff does get in the bag, there is always great fresh music out there somewhere but I also find that I’m continually drawn back to various cuts due to their continual aural radiance and integrity. These are the sort of records that connect with my mind… even if I have heard them many times before..
I hope people out there get where I’m coming from before passing judgment…. As it seems to me that what we are all presented with now is one big ego ball of media driven competitiveness. This saddens me. Where is the love?…
I believe really knowing every moment in a record allows one to fully harness the dancefloor and the mind of it’s occupants by delivering music in a way that goes far beyond words… Favouring quality timeless music regardless of age or release date, rather than ‘quick fix’ records is the way things roll over here.
For all those DJ’s out there with no musical integrity, I urge you to dig a little deeper in your quest and search out timeless music, never mind the ‘genre’. Leave those ego’s at the door and come soak up the flavors because at the end of the day, it really is all about the music…. So with that in mind I hope you enjoy the journey here, an honest, straight up mix from the soul……. Miles
Konstructure label boss is back with another deep exploration. “Blance Point” is a three track EP that looks deeper into his detroit influenced sound. From classic arrangements to dub techno that keep feet on the floor and heads in the air.
New Shake gear backed with remixes from Osborne and Photonz on Astro Lab Recordings! ‘At The Bonnie Brook’ catches him in a top mood, banging out bucking house beats with crisply cornered synth edits finished as only Shake can. Osborne’s mix drops the tempo for a ruff Detroit jackers fix, while Photonz gives contrasting ruff and smoove fixes on the flip.
New release on Mikrowave from Cassegrain, with a Perc remix. Nautical sounding subtle techno.
Deep and dubby techno reworks from Manchester’s JS Zeiter, touching up a Berlin-inspired Detroit groove with effervescent chords.
Mr. Bosco has outdone himself with this 2 tracker EP release for Minimal Soul Recordings. Uptempo kicking and Detroit-inspired techno. He goes full tilt with both sides, setting ornate rhythm patterns to hold his florid melodies and uplifting synthline vibes.
The Detroit band project (Moodymann, Anthony Shake Shakir and DJ Stingray) makes their debut on Planet E with this nice melodic yet ruff house/ techno hybrid.
SCSI is back with a classy Detroit techno record which has been sat in the vaults for quite some time waiting patiently to be released. As the second part of the Lost Trax series expect deep bass, booming 808 kicks and Carl Craig-esque sounding strings. The Lost Trax series is a project for producers who have inspired the label to record something special and release anonymously as we don’t believe it’s necessary to sell music on the strength of a specific artist’s reputation.
This EP is the debut release for Shift London and is Red Rack’em akaDanny Berman’s deepest release to date. “Underground” sees a dubbed out Detroit groove teased out over a driving bass line and understated kick drum. “Exhalt” tunnels even further into the machine functions of ever so warm deep house, with the quirkiest of synth lines arising in unison with a kick drum from the electronic ether to smile inducing results.
Jennifa digs deep into her bag for two dreamy house numbers plus ethereal remixes by Isoul8/Volcov & Marco Nega. Mostly instrumentals, bathed in a warm, uplifting glow.
Patrick Specke enters the floor with some smiling excursions of deepness on Hello… Also a late night groove remix by Delano Smith!
