John Barera & Will Martin – Graceless [DOLLY020]

Boston based production duo and room-mates John Barera & Will Martin continue their journey into sculptural, storytelling House music, with their debut album on Dolly – ‘ Graceless’. The pair’s work has found a wider audience since the success of ‘Reality’, which found its way into the hands of Berlin’s Steffi, and acted as a central gear and in her 2013 Panorama 05 Mix. John Barera has been a firm disciple of the House and Techno world for the past 10 years, and after launching Supply Records in 2011 has brought an elegant, resoundingly universal mixture of underground club tracks to the fore. A fresh and fruitful partnership with close friend Will Martin grew out of the pair’s rapidly growing studio, and the latest results can be found here over the 8 cool, classy and refined contemporary House tracks.

Sounding more fresh than ever Steffi & Dexter deliver 3 razor sharp dancefloor bombs that will unite dancefloors worldwide. XDB – Ganivon EP [DOLLY017]

XDB returns on Dolly with the ‘Ganivon’ EP, the follow-up of his excellent ‘Recago’ ep from 2011. XDB is once again delivering the goods, with 3 top-notch contemporary techno tracks filled with his trademark hypnotic melodies, lush strings and solid groovin beats. Favourite is ‘Tonik’ with its classic Detroit-feel and special atmosphere. Great follow up of Dolly Dubs 01! Once again Staffan Lindberg is delivering. His nice & smooth ‘The Orbit’ is a great & optimistic club track that will have the sun shine on any floor, with the mighty Trevino remix adding a slightly rough edge to the original version. But don’t let the easy-going fool you! The b-side dives in deeper territories with ‘Y2K’ that reminds a bit of early Kevin Saunderson works, and ‘Feel like dancing’, which is a proper sexy house burner for the morning hours. Wonderful & diverse release.

VA – 1 [DOLLY014]

Outstanding EP on Dolly again, who keeps on delivering at the highest level. Four equally strong tracks (of which three will be featured on Steffi’s upcoming Panoramabar mix cd) by Dexter, Third Side, John Barera & Will Martin, and label lady Steffi herself. Crossing the thin line of contemporary house & techno with slight hints of acid and proper US deep house, but basically all just can described as strong & plain groove, for maximum dancefloor delight.

Dolly’s first release in 2012 and immediately setting a high standard for the year to come! This time Aroy Dee under his M>O>S> disguise is delivering the deepness. Present as usual are his trademark vintage synths & drums, but this goes beyond the average retro Chicago stuff… skillfull on the machines while it’s very clear the music comes from deep within.
