Hard pumping, purely floor dedicated Shedism.

The Air Texture Series asks two Producers/ Performers to select a double CD worth of unreleased music. The only guidance is the music should not be main floor bangers, other than that we get out of the way, allowing them autonomy over their selection. This time Steffi and Martyn were asked to step up. Exciting, since as residents at Berghain/Panorama Bar – two of the most important dancefloors in the world… how would two such respected artists approach our experimental ethos.
Immediate, boomy, uplifting DJ tool Techno cuts.
To celebrate Kontra-Musik Records hitting the ten-year mark, founder and label owner Ulf Eriksson has put together a collection of some of our finest releases. This has been a daunting task, for we are happy to announce that we could easily have made several very different compilations that we would have been equally contented with – there are so many superb tracks we had to leave out. This has, however, been a labour of love. Much like the label itself. Eclecticism has always been a lodestar for Ulf Eriksson, as we hope this collection gives testimony to. The label has always been moving freely between techno, house and more experimental sounds. Kontra-Musik intends to show different angels of perspective, not to convert you to a new Religion or Ideology. Being open to a broad variety of sounds and rhythms – judging them not solely by their functionality but rather by their personality – has been the Kontra-Musik way from day one. While it has been a crooked and sometimes exceedingly hard road to follow, we’re hoping to carry on for several years to come. After 10 years, the label still feels meaningful and current to us – in short: it’s still worth it. Kontra-Musik would like to thank everyone – from contributing artists to faithful friends of the label who have supported us all these years. None of this would have been possible without you.
Fuelled on late ‘90s Detroit, Berlin and Brummie techno vibes, Seelow aka Shen aka René Pawlowitz turns up the infectious, latinate 909s and stealthy chord build of TFExx4A recalling his earliest aces on the Stronghold or Opulence 12”s, and likewise with the deeper, percolated bounce of TFxx04B for fans of Female, Regis, Claude Young.
Right on cue, Rene Pawlowitz drops another set of Head High bangers just in time for summer. While previous releases from his Power House imprint have been short but sweet affairs, the brilliantly named Megatrap offers a full nine tracks of what Hard Wax have referred to quite concisely as “uplifting Breakbeat Techno in golden 1990s leaning style”. Those who have heard the previous Head High material will know exactly what to expect, but there’s still much excitement to be had in getting stuck into such a sizeable portion of throwback techno, the likes of which are likely to liven up any party. There was never any doubt, but Pawlowitz has done it again.
Reissue of 2008’s highly sought after Vancouver with a new special remix by Head High aka Shed.
A new release by René Pawlowitz, regardless if it is as Head High, Wax, EQD, WK7, The Traveller, Shed or any of his other project names, is always big news. “The Dirt / Fluid 67” is the first new Shed release since his fantastic third album “The Killer” on 50 Weapons released in July 2012. The single unites 2 of the main elements of the Shed sound: dry and puristic functional techno on the A-Side and UK rave euphoria on the B-Side.
New project from René Pawlowitz aka Shed. The Final Experiment with two tracks under two Shed’s new aliases of Craft and Seelow. Well equalized, effectively waxed DJ tool killer Techno.
Lovely 1990s UK Hardcore & original Techno revival cuts coming from Head High on Power House imprint.
Bittersweet atmospheric & raw, pure techno from Rene Pawlowitz aka Shed under his Wax moniker.
Shed presents under his newst aliases WK7 and Head High two 90’s influenced and Detroit house flavoured techno tracks.
René Pawlowitz aka Shed returns to Ostgut Ton under the new moniker The Traveller and delivers the first 12′ of this new project. Under his new guise Pawlowitz picks up at his roots and delivers a deep techno record made for the floor. The beats on the A-Side ‘A 100’ are fierce, the melodic synth line lifts you up while everything around appears to be burning down. The experimental first track on the B-side ‘BER’ meanders without beats and full of broken chords around thatmoment of ecstasy without ever reaching a break. On the B-side’s second track ‘Bypass’ René says hello to the techno-heroes, rolls out a red carpet and shows them what he has learned.
A very special compilation of 11 tracks of selected Kontra-Musik remixes. Featuring artists like Scuba, Shed, Marcel Dettmann, Substance, Move D and Silent Servant to name but a few.
Shed’s 50Weapons debut. He’s created something completely unique; rather than boom, the rhythm of “The Praetorian” pulsates, taking a metronomic, sand-dry snare and combining it with an undulating pad melody with a distinctly dreamy quality. “RQ-170” meanwhile ticks along with the head-nodding rhythm of dubstep, utilising bass frequencies almost below the range of hearing, while a snarling rasp burrows through the track’s centre.
Two uncompromising techno cuts from the Equalized camp.
New release coming from When In Doubt by 2562, as a one-off addition to the Fever LP from earlier this year. Arguably the most popular track on 2562’s recent ‘Fever’ album, ‘Aquatic Family Affair’ is here on wax again in full glory, extended and re-cut. Half reissue, half remix 12”, the flip has Head High aka Shed giving his favourite albumtrack ‘Wasteland’ the Powerhouse remix treatment, slow-building and boombastic as only he can.
