Tony Sicoria ‎– Impromptu EP [OTHR001]

The story behind the chosen name of this EP – Tony Sicoria ‎– Impromptu EP , has Tony Cicoria (his real name) as the main character, a doctor struck by lightning resulting in out of body experiences and vivid dreams of playing compositions and triggering a sudden insatiable desire to listen to piano music. His case was first presented in Oliver Sacks’s book “Musicophilia”, chapter 1, A Bolt from the Blue: Sudden Musicophilia. Outhere is a sublabel  of the Bucharest label Inhere, focusing on experimental music, jams & live cuts.

Deepchord – Auratones [SOMALP117]

A foray into deep, organic, cinematic dance music. Subterranean bass, intercepted alien transmissions, and stripped down dance-beats meld with sheets of sounds that roll over the listener like waves lapping up on the shore. Shimmering, watery, brain hemisphere synchronization tones caress and melt stress away. Dance floor friendly tracks that work equally well in one s private listening space. Immersive music with a distinctive aquatic quality. Inspired by Detroit & Berlin s dance genres, but tempered by more ambience / atmosphere than one would expect from those genres. Music without harshness or rough edges. Fuzzy, out-of-focus, soft-sounds that slip in and out of the listener’s consciousness. Uniquely melds current dance rhythms with lushness and spirituality. Synesthetic sounds that trigger sensory experiences in cognitive pathways other than hearing smells of perfumes, thoughts of colours, and altered perception of time and space. Psychoacoustic, cerebral, electronic listening music for those wanting a different experience than the current harsher, darker dance trends are offering. Responsibly made gentle music designed from the ground-up to have a positive effect on the nervous system and leave the listener invigorated and recharged. Chi-building sonic balm. Timeless, exotic dance tracks for a new school of electronic music enthusiasts who are searching for beautiful sounds, crafted with a higher purpose in mind.

Nthng -Turn To Gaia [125DSR]

Amsterdam based artist nthng lands on Delsin with three tracks that touch on driving dub-techno and dreamy ambient. ‘Oralage’ opens with upbeat drum programming and gliding hits that make for a smooth flowing groove. Distant pads add some spacey atmospheres and the production is effortlessly warm and driving. ‘A Souls Search’ takes time out to drift in the cosmos, with waves of muted euphoria washing over you as you sink into clouds of ambient bliss. Lastly, ‘Turn To Gaia’ is a dubbed out techno roller, with long legged drums looping down low, reverberating chords adding weight and distant bell sounds charting the whole thing in a harmonic glow. It rounds out a super smooth and seductive EP.

Waage – W [THL022]

Thule are on an unstoppable roll at the moment, both mining the archive and doing a great service to the next generation of techno producers in Iceland. The deep, dubby headspace most readily associated with the label continues in abundance with the emergence of Waage, who under the tutelage of Thule old guard Exos has taken to production like a natural. There’s a supremely reduced air about “W1”, but the rubbery bassline simply can’t be argued with. The dub techno tropes are out in full force on “W2” though, with some sumptuous chords that come on like cracking ice. “W3” then pushes even further out into that heady space where minor key chords can never have enough reverb before the sinister, simmering creep of “W4”.

Glueped – Destiny EP [VM002]

GLUEPED - Destiny EP

Glueped is the collaborative alias of Mihai Mihalcea and Cristi Tudorache, better known as Teluric and Melodie. Already having released with their solo projects on some of the scenes most distinguished imprints, they have joined creative forces once again to put together an EP for Vade Mecum, an already familiar output for Teluric. The result will set you sailing in shifty winds – going from nostalgic to ecstatic, from mystery to comfort and warmth, without losing touch with the dancefloor.

Sentomea – Preface [123DSR]

Delsin’s next trick is a debut double 12″ from Sentomea, an Amsterdam native, real name Sander Schuurman, you might not have heard of but a real synth freak. Exclusively producing his music in hardware-based live takes, and that gives rise to perfectly imperfect stuff that feels visceral and alive. Often making music with a visual connection, this EP is full of versatile 909 beats and fizzing electronic textures. ‘Relative Solace’ is up first and is a frosty house trip with bell textures and melancholic strings sounding all celestial and heavenly. ‘Wander’ is all about a sludgy 909 groove being lit up with bright strings and icy hi hat ringlets as dissonant pads stretch and skew all about the arrangement then ‘Fortitude Boogie’ has classic Detroit pads, a lovely broken rhythm and a funkateer bassline that makes the whole cut dance and emotional dance. ‘Fluid’ is more stripped back and clean, with rubbery 909 drums plodding below watery, gurgling synth sounds up top and this most expressive and textural EP closes with the experimental FM synthesis that is ‘Matter’ with its raw, off beat grooves and glassy surfaces, and finally ‘Reminiscent,’ a horizontal, star gazing cut that encourages you to lay back and day dream in the grass.

Mystica Tribe – Island Oasis [SSDB001]

Mystica Tribe is the musical alias of Tokyo-based producer, Taka Noda. Drawing on a wide range of influences from dub, soul, bass music, rhythm and blues Mystica Tribe has quickly been developing a very distinctive sound that exists in a weird, freaked out zone between dub and techno. Noda is especially interested in deep, psychedelic music, and this is reflected in his productions, which are equally suited for late night listening sessions or bent, broken in dancefloors. Now he heads over to Canadian label Silent Season for his debut album, capitalising on his emergent career in the field of dub-influenced downtempo with his most complete artistic statement to date. From the spacious stalk of ”On The Lookout” to the edgy piano delay of ”Peek-a-Boo”, this is the work of a man who has immersed himself in the tradition of classic dub music, but not at the expense of bringing things up to date. The loose, live and natural feel of the album is testament to Noda’s skills in the production department, not to mention his instinct for a killer sub-heavy rhythm.

Vakula – B [BANDURA006]

Having begun the year with a 12″ of dub techno and ambient tracks that all boasted titles beginning with A, Vakula has decided to move onto the letter B. Musically, the script is similar, with glistening and slowly-shifting opener “Bikote” sitting somewhere between dub techno and ambient techno. With its lilting, echo-laden chords, galactic reggae shuffle and flotation tank chords, “Bifurcus” is a deep space treat, while “Biofenosis” is an altogether bolder, cheerier and more forthright trip into dubbed-out house territory (with a dash of techno thrown in). For those seeking more horizontal fare, the ambient dub epic that is closer “Binarity” should safely ease you into the required position.

Sven Weisemann – Separate Paths EP [121DSR]

A year after his first release on the label, German deepsmith Sven Weisemann is back on Delsin with a sophomore effort entitled Separate Paths. Down for his moody outings on labels like Mojuba and Telrae, this new four track affair continues to mark out the man behind it as a master of atmosphere. Grooves floating in mid air and subtle melodies drift by like half remembered thoughts. Head music that also makes your body move. It may only be four tracks long, but this EP truly takes you on a journey somewhere far away from this world.

VA – Edition 3 [MLM007]

The talented Italian producers Pietro Caprioglio aka Autre and Federico Pedron aka Xinner kicking it off with “Nebula”. An emotional piece of late night techno music full of analog warmth and heart warming depth. Autre´s “Seiryu” is an athmospheric and loopy groove monster for the deeper dancefloors.
Dresden´s Kryptic Universe delivers with “01309 Stairways” one of those georgeous and simply perfect analogue sounding dub techno tracks. Incredibly textured piece of work wich could have been already a classic since the golden basic channel / chain reaction years. Owen Jay and Brian James closing it up with “Chordless”, a mind blowing take of chord driven club material.
