Exos – My Home Is Sonic [DSRX9]

Delsin is focussing on a re-issue project, the return to the spotlight is My Home is Sonic, a standout techno, dub and minimal album by Exos originally released in 2001 by Icelandic producer Arnvidur Snorrason aka Exos. Few have done minimal dub techno better before or since this masterpiece album, so it’s right that 2015 sees it revisited by fans old and new alike.

Sven Weisemann – Fall Of Icarus EP [DSR/C3]

Delsin’s C-Series welcomes Sven Weisemann. Known for his deep, atmospheric and cuddly house and dub, he draws on the heritage of Detroit and Chicago at the same time as imbuing tracks with his own sense of smoky, jazz infused soul. Fall Of Icarus contains it all, heavenly pads accompanied by rasping basslines, blissful ambient chords, buried deep drum lines and beatless dub excursions. A slowly churning current drives things along as you are left suspended in the midst of it all and this one closes out another superlative EP from both Delsin and Weisemann.

Mohlao – Neurowaves [DSC007]

Dutch producer Mohlao is next up on Shipwrec offshoot Deep Sound Channel with a four track EP that showcases his specialist dub techno style. This four track EP kicks off with ‘Cladistic Mutation’, a sparse underwater soundtrack with only the gentlest suggestion of rhythm, lots of reverb and tiny little details that float by like micro-bacterial debris. ‘M2’ is a more beat driven dub track but is still way below the surface: the kicks are smooth and hunched over, the chords are smeared out in all directions and the atmosphere is lo-fi and grainy. On the flip, ‘Grain’ gets even more energetic, with firm techno kick drums setting a stern tempo as all sorts of aqueous details and spacious effects pepper the groove. ‘Neurowaves’ closes things down in blissfully dubbed out and horizontal fashion, with large sweeping pads, tweaked filters and evocative little details all placing you firmly under water.

Bnjmn & Best Available Technology – De/Re-Constructions [ADLP004]

Astro:Dynamics start off 2015 with a collaborative LP from Berlin-based Ben Thomas aka BNJMN and Portland, Oregon-dwelling Kevin Palmer aka Best Available Technology. This collaborative album is a document of a musical dialogue between the two artists that has been ongoing for a number of years. The passing back and forth of ideas and snippets in the pursuit of feedback gradually grew into a body of work that eloquently moulds each artist’s sonic palettes and approaches – harking back to Thomas’ previous cross-atlantic collaborative work with Brainfeeder’s Teebs under his earlier Jackhigh handle.

Sonitus Eco – The Light Between Oceans [SSV007]

Here are times when the ocean is not the ocean – not blue, not even water, but some violent explosion of energy and danger: ferocity on a scale only gods can summon. It hurls itself at the island, sending spray right over the top of the lighthouse, biting pieces off the cliff. And the sound is a roaring of a beast whose anger knows no limits. Those are the nights the light is needed most.

Varg & Hypnobirds – Linje 19 LP [CDRLP024]

Northern Electronics artist Varg returns to Glasgow label Clan Destine Records for a second release this year. Dedicated to the various stops on Line 19 of the Stockholm metro, Linje 19 finds Varg working with a new partner in Hypnobirds. As you’d expect, the prevailing mood over the four tracks here is deep and atmospheric, see the discordant, delay-laden dub techno of opening track “Bandhagen”. From here Varg and Hypnobirds burrow deeper into the subterranean crawl space between ambient and techno with closing track “Hagsatra” a particular highlight. Here they take the listener on an icy but strangely warming voyage into otherworldly sonics.

Seph – Cinética [AMR007CD]

The Aula Magna Records team is proud to present Cinética, Seph‘s new album. This is a project that takes his characteristic IDM-driven techno sound to the next step: just as it explicitly reveals Seph‘s intimate relationship with a fresh noise-textured sound palette it also makes evident that the artist‘s rhythmic engagement has pushed him to more complex beat programming than on his previous music.

Deepchord – Luxury Part 2 [SOMA417]

Rob Modell expertly crafting two starry, melodic and admirably hypnotic compositions for Soma Records. Choose between the twinkling melodies, rolling chords and starlight grooves of “Luxury 3” and the bolder, more sci-fi tinged “Luxury 4”, whose undulating percussion, fluid chords and dub-style live mixing guarantee eyes-wide-shut thrills.

CV313 – Fading Lights [ECHOSPACEDETROIT015]

The second 12″ single from Echospace in 2014, engineered and mixed down from 1/4″ analog tape and mastered by the talented fellas at Alchemy Mastering in London; focusing and enriching every finite detail. “Fading Lights,”, a vortex of analog warmth provides a provocative synergy pushing the boundaries between synthetic and organic movement, a sonic illusion. These enthralling hypnotic moments lead us into the seduction of groove with, “Magenta” a lesson in space and bass. The art of restraint is clearly on display as one feels as they are floating in zero gravity for an extended 14 minute journey which leaves you feeling as though only a moment has gone by, sonic submersion of the highest order. This is music to drift out, to float in, to dream thru, to love to, the magic is in the mystics.

CV313 – Dimensional Space [CV313LP]

There’s been a world of hurt in regard to this album, the original masters recorded from 1996-2010 were submerged underwater due to the flood in our home studio where boxes of old reel’s were never to be recovered again. Finally, years of restructure on live recordings and pain staking undulation in the restoration process have lead us to finally accomplish what so many expected wouldn’t happen: an awakening of sagacious spirit: With that being said It’s our distinct honor to present the sonic world of “dimensional space” the highly anticipated debut album from cv313. This album has taken a cosmic eclipse where two events collide for Unison. The culmination of this project lead to synergy, creative experience re-invented and re-imagined, flow of an astral vortex.
