WT Records makes another turn. This time aiming back at the dj. A beautiful and functional 3 part vinyl dj series: DJ Muscle.. No posers. 3 records with 3 catalog numbers. Each part has a full color jacket & label art by Marion Guillet. The series starts with slow mo freaked out Pink Floyd makes dance music from Serbia and moves on to space disco, freaked out emotional outsider house, and all the way back to wild African influenced electro dance beat. Hand picked by label head and music lover, Dj Speculator aka Willie Burns, the 3 part series will be a solid addition to any djs record bag and good enough to satisfy the collector as well.

Sir Stephen – House Of Regalia [SILK032LP]

Nawlin Dahlin Sir Stephen creates a time-trippin’, style-hoppin’ virtual reality fantasy zone with his new LP House Of Regalia. 8 flava profiles to drop on yr tongue – from the Brand New Heavies-inspired, NDea-diva vocals by Fleur de Lis on One x One, to the cooltempo/rare groove take on New Order, Dance For Life, to the Underworld-weary born-and-raised slippy ripper Get Wet. HOR is a lux layer cake of sister-soul mantras (I ll be pushin on!), acid jazz latte lounge breaks, jackin-the-Black Box piano house holds, thrown shades, fashion plates, and dizzy dancefloor dee-lites. This is music for dancers, pure n sample.

Soundstream – Julie’s Theme [SOUNDSTREAM006]

Cover art - Soundstream: Julie’s Theme

Two discoid house cuts by Soundstream on his own label. On “Julie’s Theme”, there’s some unabashed delay rippling going on, but still that ever-loving disco groove sits underneath in the bassline on the one and the natural hand claps. On the flip, the disco is thoroughly loud and proud, with “Inferno” resplendent in searing Philly strings and slinky bass that was built for grooving.

Mango – Edits #1 [BLK001]

https://clone.nl/platen/artwork/large/plaatimage25677.jpg

Two edits from Mango. A side is amash up with Paris Grey’s Don’t lead me, somehow made a bit more brittish with a broken beat and 90’s chill out zone, future sound of london strings. B side contains ‘Move’ which sounds like very early Chicago.

The Organ Grinder – Jersey Jam / My Rendition [CATAPULT006]

https://clone.nl/platen/artwork/large/plaatimage25290.jpg

Two proper peak time house tracks here from The Organ Grinder blending UK Garage vibes with traditional US House. My Rendition is a refined and warm housey affair which kicks off on a light piano tip before the bass creeps in to disarm and charm dance floors. Vocal snippets drop in over the breakdowns and the tracks irresistible melody to lead it to an intense atmospheric peak. Jersey Jam is a svelte jersey style future groover which sticks to the basic principles of crisp drums paired with a melodic hook set around a simple and quirky arrangement with an infectious vocal gluing the whole track together.

VA – Dead Cities Vol.1 [EYED001]

Portuguese duo Photonz curate Dead Cities compilation – whose title is inspired by the Future Sound of London album of the same name – which is the most articulate expression yet of their love of warped electronic music. Limiting the selection to a group of artists who are close, local Portuguese talent is prominent and due to this tightly-knit approach, there is a cohesive sound on the compilation, but it could never be called smooth or polished.

Alan Hurst – Nzambi Remixes [ERS004]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS456757-01A-MED.jpg

After the tense and dramatic soundscapes of Jason Letkiewicz’s Nzambi LP under his soundtrack guise Alan Hurst, Emotional Response have put the tracks to the test for three appropriately oddball remixers. Fellow L.I.E.S. affiliate Terekke turns out a heavily sedated dub of “Nzambi” that rides a pacey house beat but buries everything in delay and reverb. Timothy J Fairplay brings some serious sleazy 80s electro tones to “Parallel Sensations”, complete with predatory vocal and thick ladles of synthy goodness. Finally, Jonas Reinhardt cools off the intensity with a blissful ambient version of “Before The Dawn” which plunges headfirst into a warm bed of melodic drones.

The Reflektor aka Gifted & Blessed – Las Ruinas Mayas [WO-2K12]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS477177-01A-MED.jpg

There has been much speculation about the significance of the Mayan system of timekeeping. Many researchers on the subject have verified that the Mayan long count calendar, which is only one of several advanced timekeeping tools devised by the Mayan people, comes to an end on December 21, 2012, with no real clear explanation as to what exactly that signifies. This musical offering is not meant to speculate on the meaning of this date. Instead, it serves as a tribute to one of the most astronomically, mathematically and architecturally advanced civilizations in the history of planet Earth. Each track is a tribute to one of the many Mayan spiritual sites known to date.

Kassem Mosse ‎– Staat Aus Glas EP [SOTU004]

https://soundsoftheuniverse.com/img/eEVuRUplRSt6cDBHZlRJZk91RzBZQT09/staat-aus-glas-ep-kassem-mosse-diana-policarpo.jpg

Three exclusive raw house & techno tracks from Kassem Mosse on Sounds Of The Universe label. This single is part of our Art+Sound 12” series. Channeling diverse percussive and rhythmic traditions – religious drumming ensembles filtered through astral jazz, Underground Resistance’s rugged 909 output tempered with considered minimalism all cut together with signature slow motion groove, textures contrast and sci-fi synths.  This first EP on the Sounds Of The Universe label travels through the dissonant orchestral sweeps, gliding metallic harmonics and tight polyrhythms of ‘Staat Aus Glas’, the skidding delay and offkilter 80s darkside of ‘Escape From Frankfurt’, and the saturated cinematic techno of ‘Nacht An Allen Tangent’.

Carl Taylor – Debbie’s Groove [EPM002V]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS478780-01A-MED.jpg

Debbie’s Groove sees Carl Taylor in full on jacking mode, with tinges of disco and a stomping beat that will see you heading straight for the nearest dancefloor. Robert Hood turns his hand to Debbie’s Groove adding that magic touch, with a deep bassline, funky claps and a vocal snippet that echoes his Floorplan sound alongside the tougher tech workouts we’re used to hearing from this master technician. Good Vibrations gives us a deeper blend of the house meets techno sound that Carl has become known for, with its tough syncopated groove reaching dizzying heights.

OB Ignitt – Oh Jabba [FXHEIGNIT]

https://images.junostatic.com/300/CS476033-01A-MED.jpg

FXHE present their final transmission of a superb year in the shape of Oh Jabba, two tracks of stargazing house music from OB Ignitt.  “Oh Jabba” is a wonderfully simple yet melodic house track, crunchy drum machine rhythms rippling away feverishly beneath a calming array of swooping Rhodes and Moog flourishes. Complementing this, “Space Age Stepping” is a more searching affair, relying more on the rugged drums and gurgling analogue bassline to achieve lift off.
