Scrolling back a few years, Mood & Grooves present one of the very earliest (and digital only) Kyle Hall releases for the first time ‘pon wax. ‘The Water Is Fine’ was produced roughly around the same time as his FXHE debut so what you’re hearing is a lovely snapshot of a producer in near-embryonic form. ‘Create Your Existence’ makes a cautious start, taking its time to warm up with silken chords before dropping a thick house beat and sparkling keys. ‘Tomorrow Is The Day’ is nothing short of a stunning house track, the sort of gear you’d expect to hear from Shake in his prime (when in fact this guy was 17 when he wrote it!), and finally ‘One Ribbon’ sails home on a kinked shuffle of raw percussion and head-melting interstellar jazz keys. Lovely.

For release number 207, Ovum welcome D’Julz back to Ovum Recordings. A stunning three track EP that once again highlights D’Julz’s genial knowledge of the dancefloor. ‘Second Hand Feet’ sees him exploring the power of the “groove”. Whilst on the flip we are treated to two choice cuts in ‘Baka Gaijin’ and ‘Brace Brace’ which, taking influence from his times in 90′s NYC, are set to tear up today’s floors in London, Berlin and far beyond.
New York’s Neurotic Drum Band open up their recent (and perfectly titled) “Robotic Hypnotic Adventure” to a trio of classy remixes. Fellow New Yorker Abu Duque channels his techno roots into this more disco-shaped mix by keeping the bass deep and powerful and adding plenty of huge dynamic builds, all built around the original’s warped piano parts. The Runaway mix keeps things more blissful and Balearic, while Harkin and Raney add some deep and dark strings to their mix – a pleasing counterpoint to the original’s old-school piano-house vibe.

A welcome return for Tel Aviv’s Yoav B on Delsin Records. This is fifth full length single, again in his own freestyle sound. “Higher Love” sounds like house done by a passionate liquor store, with it’s lazy house beats and dramatic synthlines. ‘Love Dub’ is a more freestyle beat jam, whereas ‘Soul Surrender’ has a gritty moving bassline.
New Swedish label Aniara Recordings brings us deep, dirty and slow house from the southern part of their vast country. Gothenburg duo Genius of Time give us a fresh take on what modern house music can be. Well-crafted tracks that build slowly but surely through a rolling groove and pumping basslines. Two oldschool meet new school house burners.
After his brilliant previous “CCCP EP” Conforce strikes back on Modelisme with another great release titled “Black Stroke EP”. A side “Black Stroke” original is an hymnic detroitish tune, the swingy groove and the right strings, provided from an high sensitivity. Guests on this ep, the excellent Kink & Neville Watson worked out an old school acid house remix with a typical chicago vein as they do know to do. To complete “Pretty far from here” is a superb old school house track, subtle deep funky sounds on raw beats with a sensual mood.
