Norm Talley / Michael Zucker – South by Midwest [FS001K]

Owner operator of Finale Sessions Music Michael Zucker has brought you a sister label called Finale Sessions Music to showcase his own music with close friends and family. The first release it’s starting with the Detroit veteran Norm Talley and label boss Michael Zucker. Norm Talley track called “Power “it has the sublime Detroit deep sound with its sharp chords and that pumping deep kick and claps and it also has additional work from another Detroit legend Delano Smith but what makes this track is the fantastic vocals from the soul. Track two “Lock Jaw” is just raw beatdown late night track with deep chicago classic sound with a pumping kicks and mind altering synth. Then next is Michael Zuckers first track “Parisian Nights” with it’s classic filtered classic chicago sound with proper pads and chords with a vocal drifting in and out of the spectrum . Track two “ Thought Process” is just an amazing deep inspired melodic trip with key’s and that classic b4 organ that sets the tone for the pads and that lifted filtered sound.

Delano Smith – Precipice EP [MM011]

The label boss’s return to his own Mixmode sees him explore earthy house rather than the streamlined beaters that made Odyssey such a smash. Precipice EP has three hypnotic tracks of organic Motor City textures and rhythms. Mariana’s Song builds with the strong fluid motion omnipresent in all Smith’s productions. Mechanical drums drive a rugged analogue bass line, while flowing pads are layered to create a bright soundscape. The track is one to captivate the floor, building effortlessly to lock it into step. Set over a tight locomotive groove, Delano’s talent for twisting up vocal samples creates a smokey, atmosphere on Celebration. Toughening the drums and easing in the bottom end, choice drum fills heighten the impact of the beautifully swung drums. The dusty beats on Dream Come True bounce with a wide eyed rawness. At once fragile and assertive, the soft chords are reclined above a gently insistent bass line to give the floor or the home stereo a comfortable ride. Able to focus the output of his own label on the kind of tracks that first saw him emerge, Delano has built a bridge to introduce new ears to the sound of his city.

Tomorrow we are heading to Munich, for a few days. So, we are are also looking for some party time there. I’m a little disappointed by the party offer in Munich this weekend, especially with Harry Klein and Rote Sonne. But, we are going to check out the newest club in town, Bob Beaman Club, and looking forward to hear/see again Delano Smith.

If you are around, don’t hesitate to say hello.

Sushitech presents the new Delano Smith album, An Odyssey. Delano shows us the musical world he is living in today. Taking all of his experiences from the past years, all the various styles of records he has played and all of the inspiration that has soaked into his soul from playing in major clubs and cities around the globe, the album comes together as a single entity and represents the sound of Delano Smith and his work with Sushitech. The album sound is deep, lush and dry just as you would expect from a true Detroit legend. Moving all the way from Deep House to Techno, Delano and Sushitech have collected his best works during the last 2 years and compiled an album of new tracks and unreleased rare mixes.

Delano Smith – Light Shades Of Detroit [SUSHP0136]

Cover art - Delano Smith: Light Shades Of Detroit

Delano Smith was suitably impressive on the recent ‘Dark Shades Of Detroit’ EP. He’s just bettered that with the ‘Light Shades Of Detroit’ EP on Sushitech’s sister Purple offshoot… Three tracks of heads-down, quality deep & dark house music from Delano.
