German artist Martin Matiske’s start in music came at the hands of the legendary DJ Hell, who invited him to his first DJ gigs in 1999 at one of his Gigolo label nights in Munich. His own productions, inspired by early electronic pioneers like Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre, soon followed on International Deejay Gigolo Records, as have many more since on Frustrated Funk, Bordello A Parigi, Moustache Records and Central Processing Unit. ‘Moments’ gets a sublime remix treatment from the prolific and endlessly creative Legowelt.
Acid Reflux is an EP compiled by Acid Adams that focuses on acid sounds from different times, genres and genders. The journey starts with the deep and melodic excursions by Nihilist and softcoresoft before we enter a sweaty basement to get lost to rough and punchy tracks by ADSX and Ida Bux. On both sides, a track from the 90s (which has never been released on vinyl before) is followed up by a new composition that was inspired by its predecessor and has been produced especially for this release. Since the 90s-tracks are exclusively by male producers, the concept tries to balance this era-inherent state of affairs with the fact that the new tracks are solely by finta* artists. On a meta-level, this release is about connecting times, genres and genders, beyond forms of binary thinking.
Third episode of whispers of an ancient world. In these new interludes, the artist DMX Krew realizes his personal vision of the well-known story by Jorge Luis Borges, The Library of Babel. Borges takes as a starting point to explain the universe two realities that are essential for the world of libraries: the library, as a physical space, as a continent, which also contains the greatest wealth that can be conceived as it is the compendium and sum of everything. human knowledge and understanding. But this place, this library is not a silent, uninhabited, inert space, but rather something alive, full of activity, guarded by librarians and used by all men, in turn librarians in search of giving meaning to their nature, to what that surrounds him, to the past, present and future of humanity. And here we have the other reality: librarians. Borges interprets that each man is a librarian, someone who inhabits and explores the infinite hexagons of the Library, in search of his particular interpretation of the world. Although it also establishes the figure of the librarian as custodian of books, of knowledge, as an interpreter who knows how to decipher all the mysteries that the Library contains inside, an official who has unraveled the content of the infinite Library that requires subjects who know how to keep it. and at the same time help men, all of them librarians, to find meaning in everything.

Keith Farrugia aka Sound Synthesis’ home base of Malta may not be renowned as electro central, but the consistent stream of superlative releases he’s made there under the name Sound Synthesis have certainly put him on the map. In keeping with the floor-aimed functional nature of his tracks, this eight cut selection is a double 12” rather than an album and indeed, wherever you dip into it you’ll find iron-cast electro manoeuvres destined to keep feet moving. A valuable addition to any electro DJ’s armoury, this set has the right tune for just about every moment you care to mention.
