Alpha 606 – Afro-Cuban Electronics [IT036X]

Alpha 606 is Hialeah born, Miami dwelling Armando Martinez, who offers an intoxicating concoction in the form of his unique take on electro. Taking the genre’s classic sci-fi synthetic aesthetics and coding them with his own Cuban musical heritage, there’s a real funk and spirit in Armando’s machines. The carnivalian drum frenzy of “Afriba”, the tipped humanized elements of “Shake”, the hypnotic house headnods of “Black Mermaid” the roomy reverberations and lean make-up of “Whale Memory” and plenty more comprise a unique melting pot that references all points past and future.

I.B.M. – From The Land Of Rape & Honey (The Suppressed Tapes ) 1995-2005 [IT035]

Jamal Moss (aka I.B.M. – Insane Black Man) is a lost warrior of sonic truth. Digging through shoe boxes of cassettes, video tapes, and mini discs, we have collected the secret tapes of one Insane Black Man. This is an archive of the impetus of his genius, containing perhaps the holy grail of all Jamal Moss tunes The Land of Rape and Honey and Tribal Retribution. Artists on labels like LIES are still searching for these originals. We have taken them from their dusty and damaged condition and painfully & meticulously restored them. Now we can present these fragile raw and pure visions with the greatest level of quality. Finally the full impact of these ideas can be felt.

This is the second release on Eye Teeth, the new techno sublabel of Interdimensional Transmissions, a remix EP with interpretations direct from the peers of Israel Vines. Features an incredible peak time remix of “WWKD” from Silent Servant. It is followed by another powerful and surprisingly straight techno take on “WWKD” by the often more experimental and industrial Talker. The B Side features a version of “Relapse” by Eye Teeth founder and curator BMG. This is his first published remix created entirely on his modular.

While ‘Hexagon Cloud’ may be Erika’s debut solo release, this is by no means her introduction to the scene. For years Erika has been a member of Detroit’s Ectomorph and co-conspirator of Interdimensional Transmissions, but since these projects play shadowy games with identity and perception, she may just need that introduction. Composing without the aid of a computer, Erika’s system is centered around a rare highly flexible hardware sequencer. The ideas flowed quickly, and what began as an EP quickly blossomed into a double album with the aid of production from BMG. Science and music, dreams of space and microscopic organisms, mutation of plant life and the birth of stars, all come together effortlessly in her work to sound like post acid techno subterranean spelunking in a quest to return to the stars. Or at least to the northern “Hexagon Cloud” of Saturn.
