Tantra – Hills Of Katmandu [MS501]

TANTRA - Hills Of Katmandu (Patrick Cowley & Jurgen Kopper remixes)

Bologna born Italo Disco legend Celso Valli’s ‘Tantra’ project had one aim; to push the boundaries of disco. Released in 1979 in the vein of Cerrone and Giorgio Moroder, ‘Hills of Katmandu’ is a unique, progressive slice of classic Italo Disco. The pulsating ‘Moroder-on-steroids bassline’, menacing female vocal and warbling synths take you on a trippy disco journey. Patrick Cowley’s “Original Underground Mix” is a work of pure genius that unleashes his skills on the synths and somehow manages to surpass the original. On the flip-side, there is the original 16’20 minutes version of the Jurgen Koppers mix, an extended re-edit of the original Celso Valli version, which appeared first on Disconet in 1979, and in the following year on the US (Importe/12) release of the “Tantra – the Double Album” longplayer.

GAG – Flyin Bolero / P.T Dance [GR004]

GAG - Flyin' Bolero (reissue)

Giorgio Records presents the first official reissue of the experimental project GAG, from 1983, which includes two very different songs. Flyin’ Bolero is spacey and hypnotic while P.T. Dance is lively, and perfect for disco nights. Unknown and obscure, these two tracks are cataloged as Italo Disco tracks but go further. As always, Giorgio Records enriches the reissue with two remixes. Flyin’ Bolero has been entrusted to Armonics, Bari producer and great artist. P.T. Dance to Kid Machine.

Chiara – Rec / Studio Line [BAP137]

The summer sun is high in the sky. A cocktail in hand. The soundtrack: Chiara. Steeped in Latin rhythms, produced with the golden touch of Francesco de Bellis (Francisco), this two-tracker is set to a serious groove. Beats chatter and mingle in the evening heat of “Rec”. Bass smoothness and brassy blasts are sweetened by Chiara’s vocals before dramatic strings flash like lightning, igniting this already energy-packed encounter. “Studio Line” continues that theatrical touch. Bold keys, echoing the cinematic grandeur of Italy, are supported by dynamic drum patterns as a vocal sample circles. Styles spin and spiral, the track twirling between genre tags refusing to be pigeonholed. Elements of East and West glide and pirouette hand in hand across this stunning 7”, Chiara offering the perfect soundtrack to dance from dusk to dawn.

Awesome Orientalists From Europa – Vol. 2

Awesome Orientalists From Europa is an edits project dedicated to awesome music and new politics. Inspired by record labels and DJs that specialise in reissuing ‘world’ music, A.O.F.E. turns the tables on the perception of exoticism by rediscovering obscure and forgotten western dance floor tracks. The music published in the project fantasises about the foreign, tribal and oriental, but was in its whole created in the west, for the west.

All profits from this release are donated to NGOs that fight Islamophobia, antisemitism and racism in Europe.
