KWC 92 – S/T [LIES069]

The highly anticipated follow up to their 2013 Dream of the Walled City (OST) LP, Samo DJ and Max Stenerudh return with another far out record complete with backstory. Originally composed as an accompanying piece for artist Thomas Jeppe’s exhibition in Tehran, Iran the music contained on this release was originally pressed on extremely limited cdr’s given out for free at the exhibition. As it stands it would have been a crime to keep this music in the private sector, thus now we see an official release in long playing format here on L.I.E.S. Dream-like, full of drama, suspense and full of cinematic overtones, once again the duo of Samo and Max deliver beyond the full scope of psychedelic soundtrack madness.

Inhalants – Deep Florida [LIES070]

INHALANTS - Deep Florida

New Yorkers Matt Morandi (Jahiliyya Fields) and Max Ravitz (Patricia) take the buyout, cash in their 401k’s, and opt for early retirement down to ”Deep Florida” on their debut LP for L.I.E.S. Titles like Humid Widow, Dark Duties, and Chasing the Dream set the tone for what can only be called a tropical storm of synthesizer chaos atop dusted drum programming and hazy vibes.

Gunnar Haslam – Lebesgue Measures [LIES066]

Picking up where he left off on his last long player ”Mirrors and Copulation” we hear an evolution in Haslam’s sound New York’s Gunnar Haslam appears on L.I.E.S. with his third lp for the label titled “Lebesgue Measures”. Picking up where he left off on his last long player “Mirrors and Copulation” we hear an evolution in his sound throughout the nine songs. Still there are the understated yet grooving acid lines next to carefully programmed drums and attention to surrounding detail which creates beautiful and balanced atmospheres. There is a brightness coupled with an underlying sullenness tapping into some sort of mystical and seemingly obscured narrative which moves through the entire record. Deep and immersive stuff to say the least.

Jean Nipon / The Magendie High School – Industry Steal Vol.2 [LIES068]

Jean Nipon most recently known for his standout productions on Parisien label ClekClek Boom joins the L.I.E.S. stable. The a-side sees Nipon go straight for the throat with a Chicago-esce muted-synth beating drum track, not unlike early Poindexter or Ricky Smith productions- it is effective, dj ready, and geared for the club. The two track b-side takes a more mellow and dusty approach- without losing his sense of rhythm engaging drum programming push along tape warbled melodies as the tracks expand and release, balancing out and letting this ep breathe perfectly.

ADMX-71 – Coherent Abstractions [LIES067]

Adam X is back with his third album release under his industrial guise, ADMX-71. Adam returns to the L.I.E.S. front with Coherent Abstractions, a brand new album of singular experiments that pull from every corner of electronic music’s landscape into a comprehensive and propulsive full-length. Coherent Abstractions pulsates with fractured rhythms, vacillating melodies and mesmerizing compositions that showcase Adam’s impressive history working in all aspects of the underbelly of electronic music. Noise and industrial elements seep into the album’s 11 songs, churning the cold and abrasive into feverish new territory. Though Coherent Abstractions operates primarily in sounds of solitude, guest vocalist Janina joins Bound and Broken for a rare vocal collaboration on an ADMX-71 track.

45 ACP – Turn On The Night [CCCP018]

Smooth yet dusty and rusty retro house on offer here from D.K. aka 45 ACP on L.I.E.S. offshoot Russian Torrent Versions. Taking an interesting change in direction from its usual choice of banging peak time techno tools. Also worth mentioning his album “Change Of Tone” was also released this year on the former. All the tracks on this release here sounding reminiscent of early nineties school Chicago house and all in rather convincing fashion.

DJ Overdose – Hero’s Gone Mental EP [LIES062]

Must have record from a key figure in the West Coast’s (of Holland that is) underground scene. DJ Overdose has already smashed this year with his Master Control release on Viewlexx and picks up right where he left off with these four tracks. Moody, dramatic, filled with basslines and insane drum programming, this record is meant to be played loud on the dancefloor. Check the curveball title track Hero’s Gone Mental for maximum heads down in the cut vibes.

M//R – M//R [LIES048]

M//R aka Billy Werner delivers the goods through 4 stylistically diverse tracks we see him move through techno, electro, slow beat head nod cuts, and psychedelic broken beat UK cut ups. Usually a record of such would be a head spinning genre disaster of ransom note proportions but M//R pulls it off with style and power, each track strongly standing out on it’s own.

Pvre Matrix – Burning Sulfur [LIES027.5]

Danny Moore aka Pvre Matrix is from a generation of young techno producers out of Brooklyn who come at the music without preconcieved notions or boundaries in their approach to production and playing live. Impeccabily produced without losing its sense of urgency or brutality and clocking in at breakneck speed, Pvre Matrix is out for blood, and his three track debuts prove as such.

45 ACP – Change Of Tone [LIES061]

Known for his work on the Antinote label as DK, 45 ACP is the alias of Parisian producer Dangkhoa Chau. Having seen prior releases on Italian label, Dog in the Night Records and French label Odd Frequencies, 45 ACP has caught the attention of L.I.E.S. Records where we see him issuing his debut six track LP. Not straying too far from his prior works, we get a wide yet cohesive grouping of tracks throughout the record. Sounds ranging from the slo-mo cosmic chug of 7th Circle, to the percussive boogie leaning Ground to Ground or the Sakamoto-esque lush b-side opener Hidden Garden, 45 ACP delivers start to finish proving equally effective on the dancefloor or in your headphones.

Jahiliyya Fields – Chance Life Moon Dance [LIES060LP]

Brooklyn-based experimentalist Jahiliyya Fields presents his second album on L.I.E.S. On Chance Life, Jahiliyya Fields changes track a little with the 11 tracks a tad closer to the dancefloor. While there are still out-there moments (including a bizarre spoken word cut), for the most part the album pairs his throbbing synthesizers and crusty electronics with dense techno grooves, psychedelic tribal rhythms and humid box jams.

Slugbug – Russian Torrent Versions 17 [CCCP017]

Slugbug offers up a four track ep for the Russian Torrent label. While the title track is a massive electro cut sure to scorch floors. The three remaining cuts explore more tense and moody territories that explore more industrial and downtrodden house vibes that wouldn’t be out of place at Medusa’s back in the day.
