‘Digital Solutions’ is a culmination of a 35 year relationship with music production for the mastermind behind Model 500, techno pioneer Juan Atkins. Marking the 30th Anniversary for the first label in a genre that has taken over on a global scale, Digital Solutions is only the second full length album ever to be released on the seminal cornerstone of dance music, Metroplex Records. Definitive Detroit is what the world has come to expect from Atkins, and this selection of tracks delivers just that. Exploring both electro and straight four on the floor, Digital Solutions gives a glimpse into what will be deemed a blueprint for the next 30 years. Model 500 and Metroplex welcome you to the future with Digital Solutions.
Juan Atkins returns to R&S on a Model 500 solo mission. The last Model 500 single enlisted the help of the live line up that includes Detroit techno royalty Mike Banks and UR alumni Mark Taylor, but this latest release is just Juan in the studio and back at his best. ‘Control’ is vintage Model 500, the classic electro that Atkins pretty much invented, with his treated vocals riding over the crisp rhythm programming, dark basslines and Detroit synths. ‘The Messenger’ on the flip is a moodier affair, with the liquid synths almost running away with themselves over the rough beats.
NDATL bring you the last installment of this legendary series! First up we have an unreleased verion of Alexander Robotnick “Problemes D’Amour” retouched by Detroit native Kenny Dixon Jr. Followed up by tracks from Juan Atikins, Alton Miller and Abacus.
The first single from Model 500 in eleven years, and the first recorded by the new band line up is most definitely an event for R&S Records. Uptempo electro techno tracks from Juan Atkins with classic bass lines and robotic vocals.
