Modularz presents a new release by Japanese producer Hattori Hanzō. Hattori delivers a great body of work focused on Extremely functional tracks with lots of driving rhythms, space influenced hypnotic grooves with the right amount of tension and drama.
This time, Dixon returns under his own name and under his most successful alias, Population One, on one split EP for Developer’s Modularz label. “Code Of Conduct” and “Concrete Playground” represent the Population One side, the first tune being a subdued kick filled with cavernous space above it while the latter is more classic Population One thanks to those bizarre melodic twists. Dixon serves up “Touching Bass” and “The Beholder” on the flip, two jazzy techno sculptures that are instantly recognizable as his own.

Modularz Label owner Developer presents his first LP „In Pure Form“. This is a real wealth of work that developer has been creating over the last year. Its a fairly large catalog of tracks focusing on raw rhythms, strong tools and powerful funk fueled techno. This is a massive selection of functional tracks direct from the Developer factory of techno.
The Spanish duo Exium and french artist Elyas present a special split EP presenting a funk fused space journey and go deeper into the sound of functional grey area techno. Sonically the release pushes the listener into what currently identifies the label’s sound introducing various works that are made for a wide range of facilities and situations and continue to shed light on what is ahead.
The arrangements are compiled by a selected group of producers focusing mainly on rhythms made for building. We wanted to merge the idea along side true innovators of modern architecture and the thought process it took for reinvention during those times.
New release by Spanish techno master Oscar Mulero with support on the remixes from the Modularz regular Truncate and the German techno minimalist Sleeparchive. Mulero’s originals leave a long lasting impression and show a great example of his remarkable adaptability of staying current with the most cutting edge sound of techno over the decades. The second installment in Developer’s July emissions. “Dirty Drive” sees Developer stretching to work a melody into his machinery, coming out with a metallic dub chord drowning in its own echo, while “Dirty Drive 2” adds some complexity to the musicality and creates an utterly engrossing hook in the process. Shifted’s remix keeps a careful distance between the clean beat and the murky textures of the dubby elements, but for a real lesson in refined techno composition head straight to Stanislav Tokachev’s “Building Peaks”. Simplicity doesn’t come more captivating than that synth line.
With his Modularz label becoming a firm bastion of unfiltered techno machinations, Developer sets about bombarding our senses with his productions and curations across two vinyl releases this month. For the first part, his own “Heated” rattles through an industrial landscape devoid of colour, instead populated by reverb decays and distant clangs of metal. The rest of the record is handed over to Truncate, whose “Diffraction” flips the script with a central melodic hook and a thoroughly austere beat. Jonas Kopp’s remix beefs up that same theme by doubling up the phrase and edging towards a peak time monster, while Markus Suckut takes things deeper and into a more house compatible realm.
